Top cities in '86

What were the biggest drawing cities from the traditional JCP territory in '86?
Was JCP still running Savannah in '86?

Greensboro was the top town.It had the most seats to sell. Every angle big seem to happen in Greensboro, NC.
Charlotte and Raliegh seemed to be just behind.
 Richmond was also in the mix.

The main Virginia towns throughout the JCP era were Richmond, Norfolk, and Roanoke.  Not sure how Roanoke held up in the later years but Richmond and Norfolk remained strong.  Hampton also ran frequently and did well from what I remember.

Detroit was good to them, as were: Chicago, Atlanta, Minnesota, and a few other places. Some of the places you'd think they'd sell out in, didn't and vice versa.

Greensboro
Charlotte
Atlanta
Richmond
Charleston, SC
Norfolk
Hampton
Roanoke
Raleigh
Greenville, SC
 
Outside Mid Atlantic Region:
Baltimore
Philadelphia
Chicago
Detroit
Cincinnati
 
I know there is places I am leaving out so please fill in the blanks.

Roanoke began to suffer a decline in the mid 80's because they kept moving the days and times around.

I can say from being at many of the JCP cards held in Chicago at the Univeristy of Illinois at Chicago Pavillion - that for the most part they sold the place out
 
even the 2nd level seats, which blew
 
only time JCP didn't draw was when they doubled ticket prices for the 1987 Wargames match
 
87 Bash was a great card, they announced the Wargames coming - I run out to Ticketron - and the prices went from $20 ringside seats to $45 for ringside - only affordable tickets were in the upper tank - and they were I think $20 as opposed to like $10 for the Bash
 
needless to say, I went with my buddy & his dad, paid $20 each, then moved down to ringside when we saw that the house was over 2/3 empty
 
I made about every JCP event in Chicago from about Summer of 87 until probably fall of 1989 (except starrcade 87 - couldn't make it on Thanksgiving)
 
I never saw the place less than 3/4 full for JCP, except the one time I mentioned

That's interesting about Chicago. I attended shows in Charleston, WV during that time period and the arena was nearly empty. Then again we got crap like JJ Dillon subbing for Flair even though Flair was in the building.

I will say this - they always brought the A-Team to Chciago - at least until about 89 or so - then we started to get a steady diet of Rip Morgan, Jack Victory, etc..
 
still, the early years they brought the top guys
 
and the Raod Warriors for the most part were near the top of the card - as they were ultra over from day 1 in Chicago (they 1st appeared here in the AWA in March of 84)
 
as for response, Dusty was way over too, Sting, Nikita, Luger - Murdoch got alot of cheers for his comedy act - he was awesome as a heal in JCP
