The Royal Kangaroos were Norman Frederick Charles III and Lord Jonathan
Boyd. They wreaked havoc in the Mid-Atlantic territory for almost a year and
a half from the spring of 1972 until the fall of 1973. They most times used their
boomerangs to win. They eventually beat Art Nelson and Johnny Weaver
for the Brass Knucks Trophy. Here they are featured on a Burlington, NC card
in 1973.

I was at that match in Greensboro.
Art Nelson turned heel on Weaver and walked out of the match leaving Weaver for the Kangaroos.
The heat was really something to witness.
The Royal Kangaroos were a really super team in the Mid-Atlantic with out a doubt the funniest interviews I ever heard.
And I quote, "Thunderbolt Patterson is so dumb, he thinks a pig pen is something you write with!"

Yeah the heat between these two teams was tremendous. The next week on tv,
footage was shown from the match so Art and Johnny got everything
straightened out. They continued as a team for seven more months until
Art Nelson left to go to Georgia around Feb.1974. When Art Nelson returned
to Mid-Atlantic in the summer of 1974 he teamed with Johnny Weaver on tv
against Rip Hawk and Ric Flair. Art turned on Johnny in that match causing
them to lose. That is when Art and Johnny began feuding again.

I remember several really rough and bloody battles in Charlotte between Johnny & Art versus Boyd and Charles.

Plus, as I have posted before, Jonathan Boyd refusing to release a submission hold on a young wrestler named David Crockett on a WBTV taped show until Big Jim Crockett went to the side of the ring, beat his hand on the mat and screamed "That's enough! Let him up!"
