NWA Classics - resource thread

For promoters to share where they are finding information or pictures from. I'll go first, with the easiest two.

www. obsessedbywrestling.com has tons of photos and short bios on many wrestlers. They try to include such things as other identities, finishers and more.

www.ballparks.com can help you figure out what the major arenas in an area were. This comes in handy when trying to figure out what buildings were actually up and running 30 years ago. This won't help much if you are in an area with no major league sports, however.

www.worldstadiums.com is also pretty good. This one lists smaller arenas as well.

Can info from items that aren't on the 'net be shared here? I've got a bunch of '77 Apter mags that could give all of us some info on what was going on during this time period.

Look big daddy, it's regular daddy.

El Mariachi: You want me to shoot the cook?
Agent Sands: No. I'll shoot the cook. My car's parked out back anyway.

I borrowed this from Grog's post over at KM

December 4, 1977 @ Cobo Arena
Bulldog Don Kent defeats Crusher Verdue – COR
Special Exhibition Match: Heather Feather vs Smokey, a bear
(5-Minute DRAW!)
Bobo Brazil defeats Bulldog Brower via DQ!
Ox Baker defeats Tony Parisi – bloody!
Capt. Ed George defeats Jimmy Valiant!
Cage Match: Bobo Brazil & Tony Parisi & Ed George def Don Kent & Bulldog Brower & Ox Baker

We have a bear as Gulf Coast champion now all we need is to have him be challenged by a woman. Either that or have a feud between Ginger the Wrestling Bear and Smokey the Bear. Imagine the promos.

When you look at that card, is it any wonder I was doing backflips about having the WWWF on TV in Eastern Ohio at this time.
