I vaguely remember this angle, does anyone have any insight into it?

Oh yes...I remember it well.
 
The GEORGIA TV show in which Gordon Solie hosts an "in-depth interview" which both men as to why they wear their masks turns into a brawl in the ring, with Hamilton's partner joining him, they unmask Wrestling 2 in the ring.
His face is protected as the babyfaces from the dressing room throw a towel over Walker's face and take him out of the studio.
 
Later in the show, WRESTLING 2 returns, jumps into the ring and unmasks one of the Assassins (not Hamilton), but his face is protected as well.
 
Great stuff.

Actually -II stormed the ring wearing one of MR WRESTLING's mask and MR WRESTLING(Tim Woods) ran in with him and they unmasked one of the Assassin.  II was jumping up and down like he made a touchdown! Classic

What do you know!!
 
The Assassin vs 2 angle is on the disc I mentioned
 
In the interview 2 explains he wears a mak to help him get matches and Assassin says he does so so he's not bothered by fans,  
 
I'll post up a full listing later
