I haven't met many wrestlers, but I've been lucky to not meet any who were rude.
Jimmy Valiant was great. I first met him at the local Wal-Mart, doing a signing before an indy show at my elementary school. I think I was in 5th grade at the time. I knew the Valiants had been the tag champs in the WWF, and I remembered Jimmy specifically from his feud with Lawler in Memphis (I think that had already happened) so it was a big deal to me that he was there. I went up and talked to him a bit and got an autograph. He was very nice and friendly to me, and even recognized me at the show that night.
The Rock n Roll Express were great. It was a Smokey Mountain show in Jellico, TN. This was also a big deal for me, because I had watched them as tag champs and their feud with the Midnight Express. This wasn't all too long after the above mentioned show. It was at their gimmick table, but I honestly don't remember them charging me anything.
At the same show, Tracey Smothers. Same deal as the Rock n Rolls. If anyone that night charged me for an autograph, it couldn't have been more than $1-$2. He was very fan friendly, and you could tell he enjoyed being there (If you've ever been to Jellico, you could understand how maybe some wouldn't be so enthusiastic. But it
was a pretty good house that night)
"Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony - You guessed it, same SMW show. Didn't seem as outgoing as the Express or Smothers, but by no means was he unfriendly.
However, that night goes down in my memory now as the night I, in all my caught up in the moment mark-dom, threw a handful of popcorn at New Jack. It gave me pause for thought years laters when I watched Beyond the Mat and saw the tattoo commemorating the justifiable homicides.
