Just saw this on the WO.  Just when it seemed like the deaths were slowing down a bit...Bam Bam and now this.

He had some really good matches, especially against Masato Tanaka, but he never found a way to make it to the top.  He'll be missed.

Sad news indeed.  It is a real blackeye for the wrestling business that so many former stars (and current stars) have been dying young.  You don't see the same ratio of athletes in other sports dying this young.  What is the problem.  Is it drugs?  Is it the fact that there is no offseason and wrestlers don't have a homestand, like baseball players, football players, etc. play half their games in their home city?  Or is there just a big spiritual downside to professional wrestling?  I would like to hear the opinons of others.  If Dennis Condrey or other retired wrestlers who post on this board don't get too mad from reading my post, I would like to hear their thoughts.

I think alot of it is a mixture of pain and fame , the pain of all the bumps and the road wear  , and the downside of fame which is losing that fame and dealing with going back to everyday life. One day you are on a jet talking to your gardener and boom in an instant you are cutting your own grass again and waiting and hoping for the phone to ring...

I agree with that assessment I just hope and pray this isn't a repeat of 1993 we lost lots of good men that year

Wonderful question.  I'd imagine it just varies.  I can't answer it because I've never been and probably never will be subjected to the life of being a professional wrestler.
