Riki Nelson's Mid Atlantic Wrestling?
Feb 28th, 2007, 11:02am

Is Riki Nelson's Mid Atlantic Wrestling promotion still operating? The website looks like it hasn't been updated in months. Just wondering.

I know they ran a show in Easley,SC maybe a month or so back.  All I recall hearing was that Chris Hamrick was on it.

I noticed an advertisement for a Mid Atlantic Show on May 5th during ECW last night. I wonder who's promoting the Mid Atlantic shows now? The ad stated that the Rock n Roll Express, Rick Steiner, Midnight Express and others would be at the show. I cannot remember the town but I think it's a small town outside of Charlotte.

Rikki's website is http://www.midatlanticwrestling.com . I'm sure it's his show. I heard Buff Bagwell is in Gastonia that night, and he usually is on a lot of Rikki's MACW shows, so that may be one in the same.

Riki's site has not been updated since last year. Most of the links don't work, especially Upcoming Events. He had a note on the website last year stating that he was getting out of the wrestling business and turning the promotion over to someone else. There was no other updates after that. They seem to put on decent shows.

Me and my friend just returned from Ricki Nelson's show in Chester, SC.  I'm very sorry to report that the show as a whole was a massive disappointment. The energy started out great. Brad Thomas started the action against a newbie. Brad made the kid look very passable. We ahve come to really look forward to brads matches. He seems to have the tools to go somewhere in this business.
The next match was a girl/girl match with Josie facing the Rock star. My goodness, I swear they exchanged arm bars for ten minutes !!!! This match single -handedly killed the energy for the rest of the night.
The next match was Ricky Morten v/s Bobby Eaton. It was everything you'd expect from a legends match, only spaced out in a match lasting five minutes or less. Still little energy from either the wrestlers or the crowd.
Intermission:  with Buff Bagwell ( still in awesome shape ) and a just now arriving Rick Steiner, doing the picture thing in the ring.
Up next: Barbarian v/s Rick Steiner. Steiner seemed like he wanted to be any place other than there. He repeatedly missed spots and no-sold several barbarian moves. The Barbarian seemed very frusterated by Steiners lack of energy and the way he was selling. Being long time fans of both guys, we were sorely disappointed with Steiner. Kudo's to the Barbarian for trying to make the best of it.
last match: Buff Bagwell v/s Ricky Nelson. Nelson hits the mike and fires the crowd up with some verbal venom. The heat he generated was intense. But the match itself lacked energy. Rick Nelson still put on a great match, but Buff seemed to only be going thru the motions .
Me and my friend are long time wrestling fans and I'm sorry to say that we probably will not invest our time or money in this promotion due to the total lack of effort displayed. It should be noted that if the opening match is the match of the night, you as a promoter, may have problems. Again , kudo's to Brad Thomas for working his tail off and giving the fans a great match.

P.S

If your seeking a great nights entertainment, we would highly recommend the CWA. They have come over to the York Rec Center in York, SC  a couple times and have brought the house down with a good combination of young wrestlers and old school techniques.

I don't even see Riki Nelson's MACW listed on the NWA site. The MACW link goes to NWA Carolina's which is based in Eastern NC. He may be an inactive member or not one at all.

It's hard to believe that in what was once the hotbed of the NWA, no NWA promotion has stepped up to even have a monthly show in North and South Carolina. I'm referring specifically to towns like Greensboro, Charlotte, Asheville, Greenville, SC, Columbia, SC and so on.
