IWA's Ohio tie in
May 16th, 2007, 9:55am

What was the tie-in with the Northern Ohio area if the promotion was down in the Carolinas. I noticed in another post the IWA was shown around North eastern Ohio, and from the looks of things a lot of the roster are guys who were very popular in the Cleveland and Pittsburgh areas. I grew up in PA for years and the roster reads like a who's who of people that worked this area. Just wondering what the tie-in was with Great Lakes main stays Jack Reynolds, Brower, Johnny Powers, Igor, etc... that they all seemingly worked the Carolina promotion.

If I didn't know it was a Carolina based promotion, from the looks of things, I'd assume this promotion was out of Toledo, Ohio or something.

I have wondered this for years, hope someone can help.

When the IWA started up in early 1975,the tv show was syndicated nationally
and house shows were held in many different states. After Johnny Powers
took over it was a smaller version that ran house shows mainly in the
Carolina's.

The  1975 house show below took place shortly after the first IWA tv tapings in
Georgia. The ad does not mention the IWA but the tv show was "International
Championship Wrestling."

George Becker to Charlie Harville:"You are looking at the next Worlds Champeen!" referring to Johnny Weaver in 1965.
