I have to report I just heard from Kathy FItzpatrick that our very dear friend SHERRI MARTEL passed away.

Once I have further details, I will been updating more.

This is an extremely sad day for me.

I want to pass my condolences to Sherri's family, friends and fans.

my mouth just hit the floor when i saw this elsewhere about 5 minutes ago.
man..this caught me off guard. that's two people we have now lost that were at fanfest in rockville,md last august. all i can say is that am very greatful to have met her, briefly as it was in recent years. she and ernie ladd have left us as two REAL legends of this business. i salute them both with the respect they so deserve.

It is a shame, but like so many others, I'm glad that I had the chance to meet this very beautiful Legend. Was lucky enough to meet her twice, and I'm especially grateful to the promoters that set it up. We're losing a lot of Legends here and there, So I for one am even more thankful for the hard work that the promoters go through to give us the chance to meet, greet and mingle with the Stars of Yesterday.

I just read about this a few minutes ago. Like Bobby, I am in complete shock. She was only 49. I remember her being at the first fanfest. And her acceptance speech at the wwe hof last year was certainly one of the highlights of the ceremony. She was certainly a legend in this business and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family. RIP

Not trying to hijack a thread here, just stating -- this is real folks. Sherri is gone. The Lord has her now. RIP, Sensational one.

I work with Sherri in WCW and she was one nicest lady in wrestling
and saw her at fanfest in Charlotte few years ago we talk for hours about our days in there
and work with her at Tony Hunter's CCW in Lenior,NC and gave her an gift copy of theme music liked Sexy Boy Her vocal singing Shawn Michaels Theme to Harlem Heat she loved it
and met her husband nice guy he was but i will miss my friend

Sherri my friend i will see you again my friend
& don't give Elizabeth any hard time okay up there

I met Sherri and her husband at the bar at the first FanFest and she was a real sweetheart! At the Rockville Fanfest I had her sign an old magazine with her and Miss Elizabeth on the cover, and she took a couple of minutes to look at it and mentioned how sweet Elizabeth was and almost had a tear in her eye. She was also fun to watch at FanFest when she met fellow workers she hadn't seen for awhile....Sad day very nice and classy lady....RIP
