If this is true, it is even a sadder ending. I won't fully believe this until more details are available. I really hope this is not true. I have been a fan of Benoit's for 16 years ever since I saw him wrestle Jushin Liger for the first time. The second time I saw him was teaming with, ironically enough, Beef Wellington, against Liger and Pillman, which was a great match. When WCW signed him in 93', I was excited. He had a good debut match with Brad Armstrong on the Clash, and then had that bout with Scorpio at Superbrawl 3, which at the time, was one of the best matches I had ever seen. At the time, I remember I couldn't understand why no one talked about this match, because I thought it was Pillman-Liger level. I was marking out for his team with Bobby Eaton, and was irritated that WCW didn't push that team harder. My favorite memory of him in ECW was his match with Al Snow at ECW Arena. When he returned to WCW in 1995, he had many great matches with Eddie, Dean, Finlay, and even Sullivan. The best memory he gave me though was at the 2000 Pillman Memorial show. Not because I met him and got a photo with him, but because he had the show stealer with Regal, which is still the best pro wrestling match I have ever seen live, from an in-ring standpoint. I remember being slightly disappointing that Regal would be his opponent going into it, as I didn't appreciate Regal's ability as anything more than a "solid" worker. That match made me a fan of Regal, and greatly upped my opinion of his ability. He had a lot of great matches in WWE. I watched the RAW special tonight. I never saw that ladder match with Jericho before, but what aired was tremendous. The 04' Rumble which he won I had never seen before either, and it looked really good. I loved the Liger highlites also. I thought WWE did the best job they could with this show under the circumstances. Benoit has been consistently great for the past 17 years in the ring. He always gave 100%. It was easy to take Benoit for granted since he's been on national tv every week for the past 11 years, but it just shows how great he was. He never slowed down. I'd like to remember Benoit as the ultra talented worker that he was. I don't want to think of him as someone capable of killing his wife and son, so I hope this is not the case. It would explain though why he had a "family emergency" and missed the PPV. I want to hear more details.
