Wargames pre-1987?
Jun 28th, 2007, 12:18pm

I saw this on another board and thought it would be interesting to see who we could put in a 5 vs. 5 Wargames match during the summer's of previous years?

1986- 4 Horsemen and JJ Dillion vs. Rhodes/Rock and Roll Express/Garvin/Wahoo

The reason I left out Magnum was because he was in a big feud with Nikita during that best of 7 series. Wahoo was cornerman for a lot of those taped fist matches for Garvin as well as teaming with him quite often on the syndicated shows. Besides, we could see a little bit of Flair vs. Wahoo 10 years past the big feud.

1985- Krusher/Nikita/Ivan/Abdullah the Butcher/Barbarian vs. Dusty/Magnum/Manny/Jimmy Valiant/Ric Flair

It would be interesting to see how a 'tweener like Flair would hold up with teaming with Dusty as well as fighting with the Russians.

Anyone else have any good ones?

Phinney,

I love your matchup for 1985.  Flair could'vd turned on Dusty in the War Games.

And while The Russians and Jones' group handled the rest of the "Dusty squad", the Andersons could sneak into the cage and break Dusty's leg after Flair turned on him.

How 'bout Flair/Arn/Ole/Tully/JJ versus Manny Fernandez/Dusty/T-Bolt Patterson/Rock-n-Roll?

This is a very good subject here.....Let me look at the years here.........

If it was done in the 85 Bash Era....I would have put:

Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA, The Road Warriors, and Ric Flair
vs.
Ivan Koloff, Nikita Koloff, Krusher Kruchev, Kamala, and Tully Blanchard
or
Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA, Ron Bass, Manny Fernandez, and Johnny Weaver
vs.
Tully Blanchard, Kamala, Buddy Landell, Black Bart, and JJ Dillon
(The reason for Weaver was to have someone fit up with Dillon because they could have done some angle to where Weaver wanted to kick JJ's a$$)

1986 would have been really interesting:
Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA, The Rock and Roll Express, and Ronnie Garvin
vs.
Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, and Nikita Koloff
or
Dusty Rhodes, Ronnie Garvin, The Rock and Roll Express, and Baby Doll
vs.
Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, The Midnight Express, and Jim Cornette
(I would have stuck Ole and Arn in a deal with the Road Warriors to see "who the toughest team was in the area")

How about going back a little further to the late 70's/early 80's.
Here's my dream wargames:
Steamboat, Youngblood, Wahoo, Blackjack, and Andre
                                  vs
Ole & Gene, Greg Valentine, Flair, and Ernie Ladd

I'd pay to see that!  Cool topic.

Man, that would have been something. I can only imagine how the crowd back then would have took to that one in particular.

Here is a 83 one for you:
Ricky Steamboat, Jay Youngblood, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, and Wahoo McDaniel
vs.
Sgt. Slaughter, Don Kernodle, Greg Valentine, Dick Slater, Bob Orton Jr.

Anymore 70's ones would be awesome to add:
I know 2 of the men that would need to be in there with one another would be Wahoo and Johnny Valentine.

So maybe
Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Blackjack Mulligan, Wahoo McDaniel and Mr. Wrestling
vs.
Ole Anderson, Gene Anderson, Masked Superstar, Johnny Valentine and Greg Valentine
