WWWF MSG 6/11/77 BRODY VS GRAHAM
Jul 1st, 2007, 12:05pm

ARGENTINA APOLLO AND CARLOS ROCHA VS. PETE DOHERTY AND BULL POMPETTI

The team of Apollo and Rocha have been getting noticed lately as they have toured the Northeast, and they have just returned from a victorious tour of Spain and Portugal. They show superb team work and take the match after Apollo hits 4 dropkicks in a row on Pete Doherty  to set him up for the pin.

“HIGH CHIEF” PETER MIAVIA VS. DR. X

The Paramount High Chief makes his return to Madison Square Garden after a long absence to face the masked Mr. X. The Samoan Hight Chief waists no time with the masked man, pinning him after a Samoan Drop.

GORILLA MONSOON VS.  DOUG GILBERT

Monsoon has been looked renewed and refreshed as of late, while Gilbert has been struggling to keep his win/loss record even. Gilbert throws everything at Monsoon, with nothing to loose Gilbert is hoping to surprise Monsoon and put him down to reposition himself for bigger matches. Much to Gilbert's dismay, that won't happen today as Monsoon continues on his winning streak putting Gilbert down for the 1-2-3 after an Airplane Spin

VICTOR RIVERA VS. JERRY VALIANT

Rivera and Valiant both made their WWWF debuts in the last month and both have gone undefeated. They put those records on the line against one another here tonight. The two men are slow to start feeling each other out, neither wanting to be the first to make a mistake. The pendulum swings back and forth throughout the match with both men having moments of control, but neither was able to capitalize for a win. Finally the bell rings while both men are slugging it out to signal a time limit draw. It takes a moment to pull them apart, and it is obvious these two men will meet in the ring again soon.

FLAG MATCH: TONY ATLAS VS. KARL VON SCHTOLZ

Von Schtolz is without manager Fred Blassie, Blassie has made it clear until Schtolz starts winning, he won't have anything to do with him. The loser of this match will have to wave the flag of the winner. Schtolz puts up a fight, but he is really no match for the young Mr. USA. Atlas wins yet another match here in Madison Square Garden with the Full Nelson. Scholtz refuses to wave the Flag at first but finally does, then leaves with his head down while Atlas waves from each of the four corners.

CARLOS COLON, ANDRE THE GIANT AND CHIEF JAY STRONGBOW VS. WWWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS KEN PATERA, JESSE VENTURA AND CAPTAIN LOU ALBANO

Words can not even begin to describe the all out war that was waged in this six man tag team contest. All six men went at each other with reckless abandon for a good 30 minutes. Referee could barely control a match, that no one ever got a distinct advantage in. After the 30 minute mark was passed all six men ended up in the ring together, while Dick Woherle tried to get the four illegal wrestlers out of the ring, he argued with Albano until Andre grabbed the Captain, body slammed him to the mat and hit a sit down splash on him. Albano laid in the ring like a dead fish. Patera had Colon set up for the Swinging Neckbreaker on the outside of the ring, but Andre broke it up. Dick Woherle tried to wake  Albano up while Stongbow and Ventura, the legal men pulled themselves to their feet.

With the referee distracted Ventura uses this as his chance to pull a pair of Brass Knux out of his tights, one has to wonder if Ventura can win a match without resorting to foreign objects. Ventura with a wild look in his eyes swings for Strongbow's head, but the Chief ducks and Ventura goes spinning around!!!! Strongbow grabs Ventura and plants him with an Atomic Drop!!!!!! Ventura is waddling around in great pain and walks right into a Big Chop from Strongbow!!!!!!! The Chief covers Ventura and Dick Woherle turns around  and counts the pin!!!!! 1......2..........3!!!!!!!!!! Chief Jay Storngbow pins Jesse Ventura!!!!!!!!

NIKOLAI VOLKOFF VS. SD JONES

Before the match can begin Volkoff sings his Russian National Anthem and gets pelted with garbage. Before he can finish SD Jones rushes him and the referee has no choice but to ring the bell. Special Delivery has Nikolai rocking and reeling as the match starts, and is really the first man to take the fight to Volkoff. The fans are on their feet cheering on SD!!! But Nikolai is able to regain his balance and when he does he damn near takes SD's head off with a Running Clothesline. The Russian Strongman then just punishes Jones before winning the match with The Russian Backbreaker, leaving SD Jones in a heap in the middle of the ring.

WWWF CHAMPIONSHIP: BRUISER BRODY (CHAMPION)  VS. SUPERSTAR GRAHAM

The challengers comes to the ring, ushered out by the cheers of his new fans. The champion is booed heavly as he enters the ring. Gary Micheal Cappetta makes the final introductions, and referee Dick Kroll gives final instructions before calling for the bell, and the title match is on!!!!!!!

Brody wastes no time going right for Graham, like a wild animal possessed with by a rabid spirit, Brody looks to rip Graham's flesh from his bones. Brody and Graham are fighting tooth and nail, no quarter asked and none given here in this battle of the titans. Neither man is able to back the other up, and this just turns into a slug fest in the middle of the ring. Brody then rakes Graham's eyes, but Graham answers back by raking Brody's eyes!!!!!! It's getting down and dirty in Madison Square Garden folks!!!!

Graham finally is able to use his strength to push Brody against the ropes, he tires to whip Brody, but Brody reverses it. Graham ducks a clothesline from Brody and comes back with one of his own, that doesn't even move the champion. Graham fires off three punches then hits the ropes again, bouncing back with a second clothesline on Brody that rocks the big man, but doesn;t take him off his feet, Graham hits the ropes again, Brody goes for a clothesline, Graham ducks, Brody goes for a back elbow, Graham ducks, Graham hits Brody with a Shoulder Tackle!!!! AND NEITHER MAN BUDGES!!!!!!!

Brody pounds on his chest like King Kong, and Graham answers back by ripping at Brody's eyes a second time then BODY SLAMMING THE CHAMPION!!!!!!!!  GRAHAM COVERS!!!!!!

Brody kicks out at one. Graham is measuring Brody as the Champion rises to his feet, Graham moves in and locks in the Bear Hug!!!!! But he isn't able to hold it long as Brody  tears at Graham's eyes forcing the break. Brody then knocks Graham to the mat with a Big Kick to the face. Brody doesn't let up and goes straight to a choke on the mat. Every time referee Dick Kroll gets to 4, Brody breaks and reapplies the hold as to not get Disqualified. Finally Brody lets Graham off the mat and starts to choke him with the middle rope!!!!!! Brody takes the winded challenger, whips him into the corner and charges full speed ahead, but Graham moves at the last minute and Brody crashes into the corner. Graham is still having a hard time breathing but is intent on pressing his advantage. He climbs the turnbuckle and starts to rain punches down on Brody's head when he reaches eight, he starts to bite Brody on the forehead!!!!!!!!

Graham pulls Brody out of the corner and tries for a Vertical Suplex, but Brody blocks it, Graham tries a second time, and once again Brody stops him from executing the move. Brody pushes Graham off and the two monsters of the mat are standing eye to eye again. It doesn't take long for the fists to start flying again!!! Graham blocks Brody's punch and fires off on the Champion, Graham then unloads with a series of unanswered punches that backs Brody up to the center of the ring. Brody is rocking again, and Graham is intent on finishing this, he hits the ropes, but before he can try anything Brody once again flattens Graham, rushing him and crushing the Superstar's head with a Running Kick to the Face!!!!!!

Brody now has the challenger where he he wants him, Brody quickly grabs Graham and sets him up for a Piledriver, the same move he used to win the WWWF Title from The Living Legend Bruno Sammartino!! Graham is struggling, but Brody's able to set Graham up, he put Graham's head between his legs and tries to lift Graham's body up, but the Superstar fights it!!!! Graham reaches deep down inside and is able to backdrop Brody, breaking free of the Piledriver!!!! Brody is quick to his feet, but Graham has gotten a burst of adrenaline and has hit the ropes, when Brody turns to where Graham was he is meet with a Jumping Knee to the Face that sends the Champion crashing hard to the mat!!!!! Graham scrambles and quickly covers the dazed champion, hooking in a three quarter Nelson!!!!!!!

SUPERSTAR BILLY GRAHAM IS THE NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WORLD WIDE WRESTLING FEDERATION HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brody is protesting the count as Graham is handed the title. Brody grabs Referee Dick Kroll and is yelling at him. Brody tosses Woherele down and Graham greets him by hitting him in the face with the WWWF Title!!!!!!!! Brody is knocked from the ring from the belt shot and Graham stands triumphant holding his new crown high in the air while Brody throws things around at ringside. One more time Gary Micheal Cappetta makes the announcement:

WOW!  The Superstar is the new Champion!  I was hoping that this was where this thing with Brody was headed.  I hope Graham gets a nice, long reign with the title.

I liked that 6-man tag team match, that was a great match.

All in all, this was a very good show.

The Reflection of Perfection, the number one selection, the man of the hour, the man with the power is the NEW World Wide Wrestling Federation Champion! Graham is the man and if it weren't forthe fact that he is in the evil NWA, I'd be trying to book him left and right.

Great undercard matches. I especially liked the efforts by Victor Rivera and Gorilla Monsoon.

Ventura getting pinned by Strongbow was an ending of the match I did not expect.

The Atlas match gives Tony a push to moe high profile matches.

The Superstar comes through in the clutch. Will be interested to see how Brody deals with this.

Grest show.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Since taking over the WWWF back in January I had one plan and that was to make Superstar Graham the WWWF Champion, sure thats what really happened so it's not much of a stretch, but I wanted to do it with Graham as a babyface. After talking to, well actually after bugging the hell out of Topo about it, I figured out how to make it work. Brody was picked to be the transitional champion, sure he may have been in the early part of his carrier but if you check Youtube there are clips of a Brody-Bruno match that are excellent.

So anyway, it has taken 5 months to set the WWWF to where I wanted it, really this is the start of my vision for the WWWF, I think it will be a fun ride, and I hope that you come along for it and enjoy it as much as I am enjoying putting it together.

I never really thought you were going to make Brody champ long-term. It's too early for him. Graham will now have the opportunity to become even more of a legend than he did IRL.

Great card! Congrats to Superstar Graham on his title victory. I checked out his book from the library and finished it this weekend. Great read and great to see him on top of the WWWF.

Big win for Tony Atlas.
