The Leland S. Stanford Jr. University marching band plays the National Anthem. A group of hippies turn their backs to the flag. They are beaten to a pulp by those around them.
Opening Match, one fall, 20 minutes
Kurt Von Steiger vs. Dory Dixon The Germans have ventured into singles action tonight. Dixon uses his strength, but Von Steiger is too much and finishes off Dory with the German claw.

Second Match, one fall, 20 minutes
Dominic DeNucci vs. Karl Von Steiger Two relative newcomers battle in this one. The California crowds have taken to DeNucci very quickly. Von Stieger batters DeNucci early in the match. The crowd rallies Dominic and fights fire with fire. He pounds away at Von Steiger and rolls him up for the pin. While DeNucci is celebrating, Kurt Von Steiger hits the ring and the two brothers pound away at DeNucci. They leave him in a heap.

Third Match, one fall, 30 minutes
Kevin Sullivan vs. Colosso Colosetti w/Saul Weingeroff Both of these men want a shot at Jerry Brisco and the World Jr. Heavyweight Title. A win tonight would put that man in prime position. Both men match holds for the first few minutes and the match is dead even. Colosetti tries to rough up Sullivan, but Kevin is up to the task. Weingeroff jumps up on the ring apron. Sullivan pushes Colosetti into him. Weingeroff falls to the ground and Sullivan rolls up Colosetti for the win.

Fourth Match, one fall, 30 minutes
Mr. X vs. Ripper Collins w/Saul Weingeroff Weingeroff seems to have recovered from his fall, if not the loss. The skilled masked man looks good, but Collins is too much. He uses his superior size to wear down Mr. X and finishes him with an elbow drop.

Fifth Match, one fall, 45 minutes
Ben Justice w/J.C. Dykes vs. Earl Maynard Ben Justice has sent Pat Patterson packing and now he and Dykes want some type of title shot. He has to get past Earl Maynard first. Maynard manhandles Justice and Ben takes to the stadium floor to confer with his manager. Justice comes back to the ring. Maynard moves in and Justice lands a boot to the mid-section. The rest of the match is all Justice and he wins with the sleeper.

Sixth Match, one fall, 45 minutes
Tony Garea and Dean Ho vs. Alexis Smirnoff and Pak Chu This feud has raged all over Northern California. Both teams have gained wins and most of the matches have been “knock-down drag-out affairs”. This one starts with Chu and Garea in the ring. They battle it out and then Chu tags in Smirnoff. They double team Tony until Ho comes in to help and it’s a pier six brawl. The referee gets things sorted out and Smirnoff gets a bit of an edge. Garea is in trouble. He is able to escape and tag in Ho. Dean cleans house. He catches Smirnoff in a backslide. Chu tries to help, but Garea holds him off. The referee counts three, Garea and Ho are victorious.

Seventh Match, one fall, 60 minutes
Bruiser Brody vs. Andre the Giant Two giants meet in this one. Both of these men have had great success in the East. The match begins with a stare down between both men. They begin to exchange blows. Brody whips the Giant in the ropes and tries to bodyslam him. He can’t get Andre off his feet. They continue to slug it out until Andre scoops up Brody and slams him. He covers Brody for the win. What a display of strength!

Pacific Coast Tag Team Championship
The Royal Kangaroos w/J.C. Dykes vs. Pepper Gomez and Haystacks Calhoun (Champions) The Royal Kangaroos have been chasing the Champions for several weeks. They have used underhanded tactics to gain a few non-title wins. Gomez and Calhoun have to be ready for anything. Boyd and Gomez open the action. Pepper is ready and he frustrates the Australian with several wrestling holds. Boyd tags in Charles, who fares no better. The action continues and both teams tag in and out. Calhoun is able to use his size to control both Kangaroos. Dykes distracts the referee and the Kangaroos “schoolboy” Haystacks. Charles covers him and the official turns to count the fall.

Main Event, one fall, 60 minutes
NWA World Championship
Bruno Sammartino vs. Terry Funk (Champion) 
This is a “Clash of the Titans”. Bruno Sammartino is a former WWWF Champion. He would love to add the NWA Title to his trophy case. Terry Funk, despite predictions, has held the World Title since the inception of NWA Classics. The crowd here at Kezar Stadium is on the edge of their seats. The introductions are made and the tension is thick. Both men circle one another wearily. They lock up and Bruno grabs a side headlock. Funk tries to shoot him into the ropes, but Bruno holds on. Funk tries everything, but Bruno is sharp and his strength is too much for Funk. Terry tries another route and goes to the roughhouse tactics. This works for a time, but Bruno matches him blow for blow. It looks like the World Title will change hands. Bruno whips Funk into the corner. Terry hits the turnbuckles hard and staggers out. Bruno slaps on the bearhug. This be will it! Funk fights it as Bruno tightens his grip. Terry is almost out. Funk summons enough energy to rake the eyes and Sammartino releases the hold. The World Champion is still in trouble. There is a commotion in the aisle. Ben Justice comes to ringside. He watches for a few minutes. Bruno continues to dominate the action. Justice jumps up on the ring apron and yells at Sammartino. Bruno turns to yell back. This allows Funk to roll him up from behind. The referee counts three. Funk and Justice high-tail it to the back. The crowd and Bruno are livid.
