A Winston-Salem wrestler, John Powers, had charged in a suit that Crockett's leases for wrestling sites in Charlotte and Winston-Salem violated anti-trust laws, but the jury found there were no violations. "The jury's decision vindicates Jim Crockett Promotions of illegally operating wrestling events in Charlotte. It shows that the Crockett family operated lawfully," said John A. Mraz, Crockett's attorney.
