Tom Jones got the victory for his team with a swinging full nelson on Swords. 4) “Professor” Bill Ash defeats Ken Dillenger in a strong battle of Junior Heavyweight with the Arkansas Whiplash. 5) The Spider defeats Bobby Jaggers in a Kansas Strap match after the offical had been knocked down. The Miser then throws some powder into the eyes of Jaggers, allowing the Spider to get the strap off his wrist opening up his full offensive arsenal. Jaggers is taken down by a dropkick and the Spider delivers a big flying elbow drop to finish off Bobby and he grabs the strap just enough as the dazed official counts the 1-2-3. Intermission: Fans are reminded that tonight’s main event will be for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship and that only Mr. Bockwinkel’s title will be on the line. Also, as a special attraction, there will be a fence match for the AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship between Jerry Jarrett and Ron Bass. 6) The British duo of Jim Breaks and Marc Rocco defeats the Medics after Rocco delivers a diving headbutt to Medic #2. The Brits are dominant in this performance, dictating style and pace to the masked duo. 7) “Superstar” Bill Dundee defeats Bugsy McGraw with the Bomb’s Away. McGraw takes a blow to the head early on in the match and isn’t able to shake the cobwebs loose. 8) Tommy Rich and Ricky Fields defeat Butch Malone and Dr. David Schultz by disqualification to retain the AWA Southern Tag Team Titles. The disqualification comes when Schultz is seen loading up his elbow pad before he was to deliver his patented Buckshot Elbow on Fields. Despite the bell, Yamamoto san occupies the official while Schultz drills Ricky and Malone delivered a big side leg sweep to Rich before he and Schultz deliver a spike pile driver to Tommy, leaving the champs laying in the ring. 9) In the main event, AWA World Champion Nick Bockwinkel defeats European Champion Pat Roach with the Oriental sleeper hold in a classic 38-minute match that sees both men getting near falls. Roach seemed a little lost early on in the contest, expecting there to be a break for rounds and almost getting himself counted out. After this, the pacing seemed to favor Bockwinkel for the next 15 minutes until Roach was able to bring his power to bear. In the end though it is the technical talent of the champion that kept the belt with Bockwinkel. 2nd Intermission to erect the fencing: During this break, it is announced that the next match is for the AWA Southern Heavyweight Title and will be a no disqualification match. 10) In this special attraction, Outlaw Ron Bass defeats Jerry Jarrett inside the fence to become the new AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion after delivering 4 back breakers to Jarrett’s previously injured back. Bass’s attack is directed by Tojo Yamamoto and focuses on that back that Bass had worked over 5 days previous in Louisville. Ron Bass takes the title, but he must remain inside the fence as the cascade of debris from the crowd can only be weathered inside the steel. Medical personnel do make it through the shower of debris to help bring Jerry Jarrett to the back by streatcher.
