6/11/77 Mid South - NA Title Match/Return LA Match
Jul 10th, 2007, 2:11pm

June 11th - New Orleans Municipal Auditorium

Prince Pullins
vs
Atsushi Onita

Great opening bout.  The two really got the crowd going.  This one is anybodies match......until the time limit runs out.

20 minute time limit draw

Grizzly Smith
vs
Ken Mantell

Ken Mantell rolls Grizzly up in a sunset flip and grabs the nearby rope for extra leverage.  The referee does not see the hand on the ropes.  1.....2......3...

Winner: Ken Mantell (9:43)

Ortons
vs
Chief Thundercloud & Johnny War Eagle

The popular indian duo looked very good at times.  However, the combination of Orton Sr.'s experience and Orton Jr.'s youth and grappling ability was just enough to pull it out.

Bob Orton Jr. finishes Johnny War Eagle with a superplex from the top rope.

Winners: The Ortons (16:06)

-------------------------------------intermission-------------------------------

Louisiana Heavyweight Title Match - No DQ
Mike George-Champion
vs
Bob Roop

Having the disqualification rule waived in this match was just what Roop needed.  Roop was able to fight fire with fire.

At the 20 minute mark, both guys are exhausted and George levels Roop, with what appeared to be a foreign object.  Roop goes down and George immediately covers him.  Fortunately for Roop, when he hit the mat, his right foot landed under the bottom rope.  Alfred Neely counted....1.......2....then noticed Roop's foot.

George grabs a handful of Roop's hair as he stuggles to get them both to their feet. Out of sheer instinct, Roop wraps up George in a small package and rolls him on his shoulders.......1......2.......3.......

Winner: Bob Roop - New Louisiana Heavyweight Champion (25:12)

North American Heavyweight Title Match
Killer Karl Kox-Champion
vs
Strong Kobayashi w/ Deepak Singh

This was a bloody and brutal brawl.  Kobayashi controlled much of the match using pressure holds and keeping Kox off of his feet.  It seemed every time Kox mounted and comeback and got the crowd going,  Deepak Singh would use some type of distraction.

Finally Kox has enough.  He starts fighting back and referee Jim Ross steps in between he and Kobayashi.  Kox shoves the referee away.  Ross is determined to keep this match under control, and steps between them again.  This time Kobayashi shoves down Ross.  Ross tries a third time and is met by a Kox right hand.  Ross calls for the bell.  The locker room empties
to separate them.

Double DQ (15:07)

Great match with the Ortons/Thundercloud and Eagle! Congratulations to Bob Roop on his big win! Kox/Kobayashi was a great main event! Deepak Singh was smart to keep up the distractions! Great stuff here!

Roop now has two belts. Can he do that?

I loved the Kox/ Kobayashi match.

Ortons are a good looking team that deserve a title shot.

Great stuff.
