NWA Stampede T.V. taping 7/1/77
Jul 11th, 2007, 12:01am

NWA Stampede
Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Stampede Corral
July 1, 1977
Taped for syndication across Canada, as well as major markets across northwestern U.S.

Promoter: Stu Hart
Announcer: Ed Whalen
Referee: Smith Hart

Taped for week of July 8

Billy Robinson defeated Dynamite Kid in 17 minutes after a one-handed backbreaker. DK controlled most of the match after attacking before the bell. He unloaded his full arsenal, but Robinson survived and eventually pulled out the win.

The Wild Samoans, Afa and Sika, destroyed Buck Zomhoff and Steve Regal in under a minute when Sika pinned Zomhoff after a flying splash. The Samoans attacked before the match and didn't give their foes a moment to breath.

Dr. Bill Miller made Salvatore Bellomo submit to a Argentine backbreaker in 4 minutes. Most of the match was scientific, but Miller took a few shortcuts to win.

Don Leo Jonathan, Waldo von Erich and The Destroyer defeated Mighty Igor, Bret Hart and Jake Roberts in 23 minutes when the Destroyer made Igor submit to the figure-four leglock. A brawl ensued post-match when the Destroyer wouldn't let the hold go. Roberts hit Jonathan with a chair, and von Erich busted Hart open with his helmet.

Robinson vs. Dynamite was a great way to kick off the event. What an outstanding match, one of the best matches I could imagine putting together.

Great show. Really glad to see Stampede back up and running and I think you can really make it a premier promotino with the talent you have available to you.

Robinson v. Dynamite would have been an amazing match and to open TV with it really shows that you have good things in store. Would like to hear some reaction to these matches and interviews will really explain the motivation some of these talents have.

Very good show. It had a good Calgary feel and Robinson vs. DK would have been a reat TV match.

Good to see Stampede back up and running.

I always like Billy Robinson, and this match with DK would've been a great one!

I would've paid good money just to see that 6-man main event!

I'm glad to see people are happy with where things are going. I'm going to run Stampede with more of a japanese wrestling feel, so hopefully the angles and fueds will mostly get over based on in-ring action.

Robinson vs. DK would have been a great way to kick off the new version of Stampede.

Seventeen minutes allows the story to be told.

The six man really put The Destroyer over. I look forward to what you have for him.

A well laid out program.

good to hear that brian. that is sorta my vision for NACW with the lucha stuff. i don't want it to over lap the american stars at all, but i feel it does need a strong lucha influence. your japanese idea is a good one.
