AWA/SWCW TV 7/15/77

AWA/SWCW T.V. Show
Announcers Gene Kelly and Rapido Rodriguez
Sunday July 15th. 1977

Welcome everyone to SWCW wrestling. I am Gene Kelly alongside Rapido Rodriguez. We have a big night for the SWCW fans. On tonight’s show we will see Lizmark/ Tito Santana vs. the Russians. We will also have in action El Olympico vs. Crusher Broomfield. Mil Mascaras and John Stuud put the SWCW tag team gold on the line as they face Dr. Wagner/ Angel Blanco. We now go to the ring for our first match of the night.

Tito Santana/Lizmark vs. The Russians

“What a start to our show. Tito and Igor lit the place up as both men went toe to toe. Tito came up short when Igor hit a knee to the gut. Igor and the Assassin made fast tags and hit good double team moves. Tito Fought back and used rights on both men. Tito made a fast dash to Lizmark for the tag. Lizmark keep up the fight and had the Assassin rocked. As Lizmark moved into the roped he caught a knee to the back. The Russians went to work on him. The action got hot as Lizmark made the tag. Tito was in and sent Igor to the floor. As Tiot sent the Assassin to the ropes Igor took the chain in hand and smashed Tito in the back. The ref called for the bell at 7min. 36sec. Lizmark moved in to help Tito and got a boot to the face. Both Russians go to work on Tito and Lizmark. They are left in the ring out cold.”

“El Canek or road has not come to an end. I have my hat back but tonight I will finish this. I am calling for Texas justice. Your mask vs. my SWCW job. If I don’t get the 1…2…3 I will leave SWCW. Let”s see if you are a man.”

“You got it Bobby. We will finish this tonight!”

El Olympico vs. Crusher Broomfield

“Broomfield used his size to put El Olympico down. Broomfield then hit a big splash off the middle rope for the 3 count at 5min.”

"Gene has Paul Ellering come out"

"Gene"
Paul you are back in SWCW and after last week you made it clear that a TV title shot is on the way. Why should you get this title match?

"Paul"
Look at me. I was the first TV champion. My wrestling skills are 100 times better than Wagner. He could not cut it as a doctor in Mexico and then he takes up wrestling. He is washed up in Mexico so he come into SWCW. He has to pay $5,000 to have Rey hurt. Wagner could not get the win by himself. I fought Rey and did not give him his due. He showed me up and I just paced up and left. I am back now and know what I have to do. I have to get my title back to prove to the world that I am the best wrestler in SWCW. Wagner I have signed to face you and your tricks will not save you. I can play as dirty as you and we will see who walks out with the title.

Big John Studd/Mil Mascaras vs. Dr. Wagner/ Angel Blanco (Tag Title Match)

“This was one good match. Mil and Studd worked hard to keep Angel in the ring. Wagner got in and mixed things up with both Mil and Studd. Mill and Angel fought to the floor. Studd was able to catch the smaller Wagner with a close line and as he got up locked on a bear hug for the submission at 7min. 14sec.”

Bobby Duncum vs. El Canek (Mask vs. Job)

“Booby came out with his cowboy hat on. He got the mic. Bobby told El Canek it was time to put up or shut up . Both men go at it in the middle of the ring. El Canek got the upper hand early and worked good moves on Bobby. Bobby got his bull rope out and the ref got in his way. Bobby pushed him down and stalked El Canek. El Canek got a boot to the gut and has the bull rope. He used the rope on Bobby. He keeps up the attack until the ref is back up. El Canel droped the rope and goes for a chair. Bobby is up and backs him down as he now has the bull rope back. Bobby and El Canek go at it hard in the ring. The action is so fast and hard. Bobby sent El Canek into the ropes and goes for the finish. Bobby missed the close line as El Canek hit a huge drop kick. As the ref checks on Bobby El Canek pulls something out of his tights. He put the object under his mask. As Bobby moves in El Canek hit a hard head butt. Both men go down but El Canek only to one knee. El Canek goes to the top rope and hit a knee drop to the face. El Canek picks Bobby up and hit the gorilla press into a backbreaker. Bobby is out. El Canek got the 3 count. The ref gave the 10 count. 1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8…9…10 El Canek has done it! Bobby has to leave SWCW!

Really like the direction you are taking Ellering. One of my personal favorites and I know you can do well with him.

The Main Event was a huge shock to me as I saw Bobby Duncum as the guy that would finally take the belt off Zbyszko after his feud with Firpo. However, by eliminating Bobby, you have made El Canek a major player in SWCW and have pushed him up the roster to the upper tier to take on Zbyszko-firpo winner or Angel Blanco for the Junior Title.

the tag team of Tito and Lizmark might be a sleeper team for new team of the year if you give them the right push in the right direction. Lot's of Lucha talent here that seems to be playing well with the anglos you have.
