Match #1 Roberto Soto defeated
Reno Tuufuli via pinfall when Roberto landed a flying dropkick on Reno and covered for the pin. (4:29)
Match #2 Kevin Von Erich & David Von Erich defeated
Magnificent Zulu and Mexican Angel via pinfall when KVE landed a flying cross bodyblock on Zulu and covered for the pinfall. (6:43)
Match #3 Al Madril defeated
Red Bastien following a crucifix into a pinfall. (9:52) Madril utilized numerous illegal maneuvers to keep Bastien off-balance during the contest.
Match #4 Killer Tim Brooks defeated
Cocoa Samoa in a brutal no-disqualification contest when Brooks loaded his elbow pad and dropped an elbow in Samoa as he lay on the ring floor. Brooks was able to drag the bloody Samoa back into the ring and gained the pinfall. (10:54)
Match #5 Texas Tag-Team Champions Mr. Fuji and Masa Saito w/ Skandar Akbar defeated
Ken Patera & Jesse Ventura via pinfall when Mr. Fuji pinned Patera. (20:56). In a tough contest, Ventura and Saito were fighting outside the ring. As the ref admonished the duo, Fuji threw salt into the eyes of Patera, blinding the strongman and leaving him prey to a Kamikaze clothesline and pinfall.
---Intermission --- Match #6 Texas Heavyweight Champion Ernie Ladd w/ Gary Hart defeated
Rocky Johnson via pinfall to retain his heavyweight title. (16:20). Ladd enters the ring and immediately attacks Johnson. Johnson is ready, though, and he dodges the attack, eventually sending Ladd crashing off the top turnbuckle! Johnson controls the match, using a series of both power and scientific maneuvers to keep Ladd at bay. Ladd, sensing the match getting away from him, goes to his bag of dirty tricks. Johnson shows that he can fight just as dirty though, using a series of closed fists to hurt the champ. Ladd is slightly busted open by the shots! Johnson has the momentum. He attempts to land an elbow drop but Ladd moves! With Johnson down, Ladd delivers a series of hard stomps to the head of Johnson. He picks up Johnson and tries to land a kick to the head. NO! Johnson avoids the kicks and sweeps Ladd’s legs from under him as Johnson gets a near pinfall. Johnson goes on the offensive and has the champ in trouble again. Out of desperation, Ladd is able to land a thumb to the throat of Johnson. Johnson can’t breath. Ladd then lands a kick to the head. He picks up Johnson and drapes him against the ropes. He lands another kick to the head. Johnson goes down like a sack of potatoes. Ladd covers for the pin to retain the Texas Heavyweight Title.
Match #7 Co-Main Event NWA World Champion Terry Funk defeats hometown-boy
Dusty Rhodes via pinfall. (28:09)
Rhodes enters the ring to the adulation of the local fans. The world champ comes to the ring and immediately attacks his challenger. Funk takes Rhodes down with a full armdrag and twist. Rhodes gets to his feet and makes his way to the ropes as the referee calls for the break. As the men are breaking, Funk lands a hard right on Rhodes. He follows with an uppercut that sends Rhodes staggering into the middle of the ring. Funk grabs Rhodes and hiptosses him to the mat. Funk clamps on an armbar. Funk is hurting Rhodes with the maneuver. Rhodes is able to get to the ropes and Funk breaks the hold. Funk attempts to whip Rhodes into the corner, but Rhodes reverses it and Funk hits the turnbuckle. Rhodes charges in with an elbow smashRhodes pulls Funk out of the corner. He drives a knee to the mid-section. Rhodes sets him for a suplex and hits it. He covers Funk for the pin. This could be it. 1....2.....NO! The crowd thought we had a new champion. Rhodes whips Funk into the ropes and waits for a back bodydrop. Funk instead grabs the ropes and lands a boot to the face. Rhodes goes down. Funk moves into a stepover toehold. Rhodes grabs the ropes and the referee calls for the break. Rhodes grabs Funk and backs him into the ropes. Rhodes pulls Funk through the ropes and both men fall to the arena floor. Rhodes whips Funk into the ring post and the world champion goes down. Rhodes stomps away at the dazed Funk. Rhodes tosses Funk back into the ring. He moves in and sets Funk for an abdominal stretch. Funk blocks it and backdrops Rhodes. Both men fall to the mat. Funk gets to his feet first. He drops an elbow on Rhodes. Funk goes for the cover, but Rhodes kicks out. Funk picks Rhodes up and whips him into the ropes. He drops Rhodes with an elbow to the jaw. Funk goes for a sleeperhold, but Rhodes escapes. Funk comes charging off the ropes and lands a clothesline. Rhodes goes down. Funk goes for the cover. He gets a two count. Funk picks up Rhodes and attempts a bodyslam. Rhodes instead hooks him in small package. The World Champion kicks out at two. Both men are exhausted. From their knees, both men are exchanging fists. Rhodes lands a big left and Funk goes down. Rhodes covers for the pin but only get a 2 count. He picks up Funk and sends him into the corner. He goes in for a kick to the head! Funk moves out of the way as Rhodes hits the corner hard. Funk quickly rolls Rhodes into a small package. 1.....2......3!!! An exhausted Terry Funk has retained his title.
---Second Intermission --- Main Event American Heavyweight Champion Fritz Von Erich defeated
Tor Kamata w/ Skandar Akbar via submission when Von Erich clamped on the dreaded iron claw. (23:14) Fritz has a fire in his eyes as he immediately attacks Kamata. Kamata uses a poke to the eye to stop the attack. He scoops up Fritz for a bodyslam. He follows it up with a smash to the head with his large boot. Kamata attempts a stepover toehold but Fritz kicks out. The two men lock up collar and elbow. Fritz goes for a top wristlock. He sends Kamata to the mat. Fritz puts Kamata in a headlock. Fritz squeezes Kamata’s head with all his strength. Kamata gets to his feet, but Fritz maintains the headlock. Kamata shoots Fritz into the ropes and goes for a shoulder tackle. Neither man budges. Kamata goes for a right hand. Fritz blocks it and lands a right of his own. He follows up with a quick left that floors Kamata. Fritz lays the boots to Kamata’s ribs. Fritz picks Kamata up and lands a gut wrench suplex. Fritz goes for the cover. Kamata kicks out at one. Both men get to their feet. They tie up and Kamata whips Fritz into the ropes. Kamata is able to land a back bodydrop. Fritz hits the canvas hard. Kamata quickly applies a hammerlock. Fritz struggles to free himself. Kamata reaches around and applies a cross-face submission hold. Fritz struggles to get to the ropes. Fritz finally reaches the ropes! The ref calls for the break. Kamata refuses to break. The ref is threatening DQ when Kamata finally breaks. Kamata lands a big boot to Fritz. Fritz rolls out of the ring. Kamata follows him out to the floor. They slug it out on the floor. Fritz slams Kamata’s head into the apron. Kamata is reeling. Skandar Akbar tries to get involved but Fritz floors the manager with a hard right. Fritz grabs Kamata and tosses him back into the ring. Fritz follows him in. He moves in on the prone Kamata. Fritz lands a knee to the head of Kamata. With Kamata dazed, Fritz locks in the iron claw!!!!!! Kamata is screaming in pain. Skandar Akbar is still out cold and can’t help his charge. Kamata has no choice but to submit!!! When Skandar Akbar comes to, he is furious and storms into the ring yelling at the referee. Fritz rushes over to Akbar, and applies the iron claw on him!!! Akbar is in pain. Fuji and Saito come to make the save as Fritz releases the hold and celebrates with the fans.
