Hosted by Lord Athol Layton
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

.
.
The opening plays, accompanied by Herb Alpert’s A Bandita.  We see short clips of some of the stars that have appeared on Maple Leaf Wrestling over the years, like Whipper Billy Watson, Gene Kiniski, Bruno Sammartino, Johnny Valentine, Jack Brisco and many more.

We then join Lord Athol Layton standing behind a podium with the Maple Leaf Wrestling logo on it, behind him, the Maple Leaf Wrestling logo and a big red and green Maple Leaf.

Layton: "Cheery-O everyone, welcome to Maple Leaf Wrestling, I'm Lord Athol Layton.  Whether you're on the East coast, the West coast or anywhere in between, we thank you for inviting us into your homes each and every week.  We've got a fantastic show lined up for you today.  The Crusaders will be in tag team action, as will The BlackJacks, Mulligan and Lanza.  We'll see the madman from the Sudan Abdullah the Butcher in action, as well as the German Champion Baron Von Raschke.  Bobo Brazil and The Sheik will be in action as well!  As I say, we've got a big show lined up, so let's get started."

MATCH #1 - HANDICAP MATCH - 1 fall, 10 minute time limit:
Abdullah the Butcher defeats Terry Yorkston & Bob Marcus after hitting Marcus with the Sudanese Elbowdrop, then slamming Yorkston on top of him, and pinning both men simultaneously.

Killer Kowalski walks in and joins Layton on the set.

Layton: "Mr. Kowalski, you've certainly got your work cut out for you on Thursday night, you go one on one with the man that we just saw in action, Abdullah the Butcher."

Kowalski: "Layton, I was in the ring with Abdullah on July 1st at Exhibition Stadium, in a tag team match, and I'll tell you, he's not so bad.  He's got a big reputation, but after being in the ring with him, he's highly overrated!  Creatchman, Abdullah, I want the two of you to get real close to the screen and listen to this.  On Thursday night at Maple Leaf Gardens, I'm going to show Abdullah the Butcher the true meaning of the word "pain".  There's a reason why they call me "Killer" Layton, and on Thursday night, Abdullah's going to find out, first-hand, just what I'm talking about!"

Layton: "There you have it fans, Killer Kowalski is ready for Abdullah the Butcher this Thursday night, and we've got to take a commercial break.  When we come back, Baron Von Raschke is in action."

MATCH #2 - 1 fall, 10 minute time limit:
Baron Von Raschke defeats a preliminary wrestler on Portland TV after locking his opponent in the Claw, for the submission.

After the match, Rufus R. Jones walks in, on crutches, and joins Layton on the set.

Layton: "Rufus, first of all, thank you for joining us here today.  Last week, something transpired, that I'm sure made you very happy to watch."

Rufus: "It sure did!"

Layton: "Last week, Greg Valentine was fined and suspended by AWA president, Eddie Einhorn.  Let's take a look"

VTR - Last week on Maple Leaf Wrestling
Einhorn: "Lord, everytime I watch that, it makes me sick to my stomach.  So, as a result of that attack, the AWA has decided to fine Mr. Valentine $5,000 and suspend him for 30 days!"

There’s some commotion…Greg Valentine storms the set, and he’s not happy!

Valentine: "What?!?!  Einhorn, you idiot, you can't do this!  I didn't anything wrong, Rufus R. Jones hit me, you saw it, I was just defending myself!  I'm the victim here, Einhorn!"

Einhorn: "Mr. Valentine, please, I've watched that tape several times, what you did was completely uncalled for, and quite honestly, here in the AWA, we will not stand for such behaviour.  I've made my decision, and it's FINAL!"

With that, Einhorn walks off.

Valentine: "This is a travesty, Layton!  I didn't do anything wrong!  $5,000 is merely pocket change, but that's not the point, it's the principle...I shouldn't be fined OR suspended for defending myself!  This will not stand, Layton, I'm calling my lawyer, and we'll see what he has to say about this!"

Valentine continues to rant and rave as we cut away to a commercial break.

Layton: "Greg Valentine has been disciplined, and rightly so in my opinion, for what he's done to you."

Rufus:: "Greg Valentine, you attacked me, you got exactly what you deserved.  You call yourself a man, Valentine, but you ain't nuthin' but a coward, you attack a man when he's down and out.  But listen up, Valentine, I'll be back!  That's right, I've been cleared to come back at the end of July...the same time you're suspension's up!"

Layton: "That's right, he'll be back in early August, and Rufus, I'm sure you're anxious to get him in the ring."

Rufus: "You're damn right, Layton!  For the last two months, all I've done is sit at home and think, the one thing going through my mind is that Greg Valentine, you tried to end my career.  You almost did it too, Valentine, but you didn't get the job done, and now I'm comin' for ya!  Valentine, I'm gonna hunt you down like a dog.  I'm gonna get you in that ring and give you the whoopin' that you deserve!"

Layton: "There you have it fans, Rufus R. Jones will be looking for a match with Greg Valentine just as soon as he can get him in the ring.  Let's take another quick break, but when we come back, The BlackJacks, Mulligan and Lanza, will be in action."

MATCH #3 - 1 fall, 10 minute time limit:
BlackJack Mulligan & BlackJack Lanza defeat Nick DeCarlo & Duncan MacTavish after Lanza hits DeCarlo with a boot to the jaw as DeCarlo came off the ropes, leading to the pinfall.

Eddie Creatchman, The Sheik, Chris Colt and Abdullah the Butcher walk in and join Layton on the set.

Layton: "Mr. Creatchman, this Thursday you and you're men..."

Creatchman grabs the mic from him!

Creatchman: "Layton, you just shut up and listen.  I know you'd like to see Mark Lewin and Bobo Brazil beat these men, or Killer Kowalski emerge victorious against Abdullah the Butcher, but I've got a rude awakening for you, my friend, it's NOT going to happen!  That's right, I'm going to GUARANTEE victory for my men on Thursday night, that's how confident I am in their abilities and in my managerial skills.  Bobo Brazil and Mark Lewin are obviously stupid men.  After the beating they received at the hands of the Sheik and Chris Colt a few weeks ago, you would think they'd stay far, far away from these men.  But, they've come back, looking for another beating, and that's exactly what the Sheik and Chris Colt are going to give them on Thursday night!  The Sheik and Chris Colt are going to DESTROY Brazil and Lewin!"

Layton: "Now hold on a second, how can you call them stupid?  They're professionals, and they don't back down from a challenge."

Creatchman: "You call it what you will, Layton, I'll call it stupidity.  As far as Killer Kowalski goes, I heard him out here earlier, but you know what?  I'm not worried, Abdullah the Butcher's not worried.  Killer Kowalski was a dangerous man once upon a time, but no more, he's washed up now, a has-been.  Abdullah the Butcher is the future of this sport, and he's going to prove it on Thursday night when he ends the career of Killer Kowalski!  Layton, maybe Kowalski can get a share a hospital room with Bobo Brazil or Mark Lewin after Thursday night's show at the Gardens."

Layton: "We've got to cut away to another commercial break, but when we come back, we'll take a look back at a big tag team match that took place on July 1st at Exhibition Stadium between Bobo Brazil and Killer Kowalski vs The Sheik and Abdullah the Butcher."

ARENA TAPED - From July 1st at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto, ON
Killer Kowalski & Bobo Brazil defeat The Sheik & Abdullah the Butcher after Bobo slips out of Abdullah’s grasp, and The Sheik accidentally nails the Butcher in the throat with a foreign object.  Bobo then pins Abdullah.

Layton: "On Thursday night at Maple Leaf Gardens, Bobo Brazil teams up with Mark Lewin to face The Sheik and Chris Colt in a tag team encounter, and Killer Kowalski will go one on one with the dangerous Abdullah the Butcher!  Fans, you definitely don't want to miss either one of those matches, so you'll want to make sure you have your ticket for this Thursday night at Maple Leaf Gardens."

After the break Canadian Champion The Crusader walks in and joins Layton on the set.

Layton: "It would seem that you've got a lot on your plate right now.  You've still got your sights set on Nick Bockwinkel and the World Heavyweight Title, but there are challengers lining up for a shot at that Canadian Title as well."

Crusader: "That's right Lord, but right now, I'm completely focused on my match with Baron Von Raschke on Thursday night at the Gardens.  I've seen Von Raschke in action these last few weeks, and I know that he's a very dangerous man.  If I'm not 100% focused on him, I could leave the Gardens without this belt.  So, I've had to put everything else out of my mind right now, and just focus on Baron Von Raschke."

Layton: "Let's talk about Nick Bockwinkel for a moment, the last two matches have both gone to the limit, the first went 60 minutes, the second, on Canada Day at Exhibition Stadium, went 90 minutes.  It seems that you and Bockwinkel are about as evenly matched as any two opponents could possibly be."

Crusader: "I would agree with that.  Bockwinkel's a great wrestler, he wouldn't have held the World Title this long if he wasn't, but I truly believe that I have what it takes to beat him and take that belt.  I will see Bockwinkel in the ring again soon enough, and when that happens, I want a match with NO time limit, so that way, nothing can save Bockwinkel or his title!"

Layton: "Crusader, thank you for joining us, and best of luck to you on Thursday night when you defend your Canadian Title against Baron Von Raschke."

The two men shake hands, and Crusader walks off the set.

Layton: "We've got to go now, to our final commercial break.  When we return, the Crusaders will be in tag team action."

MATCH #5 - 1 fall, 10 minute time limit:
The Crusaders defeat Golden Boy Apollo & Gary McLaughlin after Crusader #1 catches Apollo with a flying bodypress from the top rope, leading to the pinfall.

Layton: "An impressive victory for the Crusaders here today.  Remember fans, we've got a huge show for you this Thursday night, July 19, at Maple Leaf Gardens.  The Sheik teams up with Chris Colt to face Bobo Brazil and Mark Lewin.  The Crusader defends the Canadian Title against Baron Von Raschke.  Killer Kowalski goes one on one with Abdullah the Butcher.  The BlackJacks face Billy Red Lyons and Edouard Carpentier.  All that and much, much more, this Thursday night at Maple Leaf Gardens."

"That does it for another week of Maple Leaf Wrestling.  I'm glad you could join us, and I hope you enjoyed the show.  Next week, we'll have another action-packed hour of Maple Leaf Wrestling for you.  On that show, we'll see The Sheik in action, as well as the Russian Bear Ivan Koloff and the BlackJacks!  Plus, The Crusaders will be in tag team action as well.  That's next week on Maple Leaf Wrestling.  Until then, I'm Lord Athol Layton saying so long everyone, and we will see you at ringside!"

Good show. Abdullah would the people's attention right off the bat. I'm a fan of the Baron, so it's nice to see him in Toronto. Also good to see the Blackjacks.

Great action from Abby. I just can't believe the carnage from Butcher and Kowalski..

Rufus and Valentine will benefit from the slow build up here.

I want to be there when The Blackjacks take on Lyons and Carpentier.

Great show.
