AWA-CWA Wrestling Live from the Nashville Civic Auditorium, Nashville, TN Bell time on 7/13/77 is 7:00 pm 1) Kelly Kiniski, Canada’s next great athlete, defeats Big Bill Howard in a spirited contest after connecting with a Canadian back breaker 2) The British duo of Marc Rocco and “Gentleman” Jim Breaks defeat the Medics after Rocco delivers a diving head butt to Medic #1 and Breaks locks on his inverted hammerlock to get the submission victory. Rocco and Breaks stay on top of the Medics, but leave the ring after the referee threatens to overturn the match as the Brits continue beating down the hapless Medics. 3) Ken Dillenger puts forward a hearty effort, but falls to the Spider after being clipped with a huge running double axe handle. The Miser, who is watching at ringside, looks on pleased with the victory. 4) “Professor” Bill Ash defeats “Superstar” Bill Dundee with the Arkansas Whiplash after ramming Dundee into the ring post on the outside. The two men go at each other like rabid dogs, barely staying within the rules, until the referee goes down when Bill Dundee goes for a flying shoulder tackle on the Professor, but Ash moves out of the way and Dundee takes referee Paul Morton down. From here the match spilled outside until the finish. Intermission: During the short intermission, it is announced that Monday night Ron Bass defeated Jerry Jarrett for the AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship in a brutal fence match and that Jerry, due to injuries incurred in the match, could not be cleared to take his rematch. To fill the match tonight, a random draw has taken place of the wrestlers in the back. The match however will go forward, but will be a non-title match up. 5) Phil Hickerson and Dennis Condrey battle Tito Montez and Bobby Jaggers to a bloody double count out when the brawl between all four men spills to the outside. The Miser tried to get involved, but the brawl was too far gone for him to stop the avalanche. 6) Jerry “the King” Lawler defeats Sugar Bear Harris, with Tojo Yamamoto, after a big fist drop off the second rope. Lawler seemed to pull something out of his tights while Yamamoto was arguing with the official that Lawler had done something illegal earlier, but it had disappeared in time to see the King get the 1-2-3. 7) Pat Roach, the replacement for Jerry Jarrett, defeats AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion Ron Bass in a battle of the bullies. Both men constantly push referee Paul Morton to the brink of a disqualification, but as the match approaches the 45-minute time limit, Roach dropped Bass with a running knee lift and then dropped the knee off the second rope for the 1-2-3. Yamamoto san, who remained at ringside for this contest is irate that Bass twice in one week has lost non-title matches to top challengers.
