7/20/77

Fishman vs. Crusher Broomfield

“Crusher worked over Fishman. Crusher was like a “one man gang” as he almost took the head of Fishman off. Crusher hit one big splash in the middle of the ring for the 3 count.”

Lizmark/ Tito Santana vs. Dr. Wagner/ Angel Blanco

“What a match. Full of great tag action and good wrestling holds. The end came as Lizmark had his back to Angel. Angel hit a lung blower and the Dr. Came off the top rope with a leg drop. Tito was in to break up the fight and hit a big drop kick on Wagner that sent him to the floor. Tito then hit a leg whip on Angel. Lizmark was up but hurt. He made the tag and Tito was back in. Tito hit a scoop slam on Angel. As Wagner was back in he took both men and smashed them face first into each other. Tito sent Angel into the ropes and hit his flying elbow smash. He tagged in Lizmark who then came off the top rope with a splash. Tito took Wagner to the floor and Lizmark got the big 3. This was one big upset! ”

"Angel was called out after his tag match to put the SWCW Jr. Title on the line by the G.M."

Johnny Saint vs. Angel Blanco (SWCW Jr. Title Match)

“This was one good wrestling match. The action was non-stop. Angel used a low blow behind the back of the ref. Angel then used the gedo clutch for the 3 count”

Big John Studd/Mil Mascaras/Rey Misterio vs. Igor Volkoff/ The Russian
Assassin/El Canek

“Studd and El Canek worked most of the match. Both men just would not back down. Rey got his hands on Igor and took him over the top rope hard to the floor. The Assassin got his chain out and used it on Mil. This now left both Studd and El Canek in the ring. Studd was able to lock on the bear hug. El Canek powered out to the shock of the fans. The ref was working to stop Rey and Igor as the Assassin came in with the chain and took Studd out. El Canek got the 3 count.”

Pampero Firpo vs. Larry Zbysko (2 out of 3) (SWCW Title Match)

“Zbysko took Firpo off his feet early in the match and keep it to a slow pace. Larry worked the right leg over good. Larry was able to keep Firpo down and on his back. Firpo fought back to his feet and the match was up in the air. Larry hit the shoulder breaker to get the first pin of the match.

Firpo now has fire in his eyes. He goes after Larry and hit a sidewalk slam. Firpo hit a knee drop. Firpo now is on top of Larry and hits some hard rights. Firpo has Larry hurt and locked on the claw. Larry is flat on his back and the ref moved in for the 3 count.

The fans are on their feet for the finish. Firpo has a hurt shoulder. Larry has some blood down his face. Both men fight it out in the middle of the ring. Both men hit the ropes and hit a close line on each other. They are both down with a hand on each other. The ref has to count.1…2…3 both men have pined each other. The ref has to give the belt back to Larry but he can’t stand up. Both men have to be helped to the back.”

Tito Santana/Lizmark vs. Blue Panther/ Super Astro

“Good open to the show. Lizmark hit the power bomb on Panther for the 3 count”

Fishman vs. El Canek

“El Canek was like a wild man. He would not give Fishman time to get his breath. El Canek hit the gut buster. He then set up a power lift into a back breaker for the 3 count. After the match he keeps up kicks to the face and arm until Lizmark and Tito made the save. As both men checked on Fishman El Canek moved back into the ring with a chair and took both men out.”

Rey Misterio vs. Dr. Wagner (TV Title Match)

Rey had the Dr. down and was going for the moon sault but missed. The Dr. took this time to lock on the gory special for the win. After the match was over he called out Angel. Both men put the boots to Rey. PAUL ELLERING MADE THE SAVE AND RAN THEM TO THE BACK.”

Pampero Firpo vs. Larry Zbysko (SWCW Title Match)

“Firpo was in a wild way in the match. He took Larry to the outside and ran his head into the ring post. The ref told Firpo to keep the action in the ring but he would not. The ref had to call for the bell and Larry keeps the belt. Larry did not walk out of this match. Firpo used a chair to smash the knee and face of Larry before the cops had to hand cuff him and take him to the back.”

The Russians taking out Studd was unexpected. Loved the Firpo contests with Zybysko. This turn by Ellering is pulling me in. More, please. Great action in SWCW.
