Mid South TV - June 23rd - Lot's of action
Jul 18th, 2007, 2:29pm

Mid South Intro...........

Boyd: Welcome to this week’s edition of Mid South wrestling television network, I’m your host Boyd Pierce.  We have a action packed hour of wrestling excitement.  Headlining today's card is a big Mid South Tag Team Title Match, where the tag champs Cowboy Bill Watts and Bob Roop, face one of the top tag teams in the country- Ken Patera and Jesse Ventura.  We also have a major announcement concerning the NWA World Champion Terry Funk, and who he’ll be facing at the Superdome Extravaganza.

At my side, to help me call all the action is someone who is currently undefeated here in the Mid South, Ken Mantell.

Mantell: Thanks Boyd, I’m sure all of your television viewers are honored to have me with you today.

Boyd: Ken, while I don’t always agree with your tactics, there is no denying that you are one of the top stars in the Mid South today.  And you are currently unbeaten in the Mid South rings.  I am sure it won’t be long before you'll get a crack at one of the title belts here in the Mid South.

Mantell: Yeah, since you brought it up, it is kind of strange that the Mid South brass has found a way of depriving me of a title shot.  It seems that Bob Roop was given shot after shot, until he was able to luck up and defeat Mike George.  Yet, I’ve beaten everyone put in front of me, but where is my shot at the North American Title, or at the very least the Louisiana or Mississippi Title?

Boyd: I’m sure you’ll get your chance in due time.  And speaking of Bob Roop defeating Mike George.  He did in fact win the Louisiana Championship in front of a packed crowd on Monday June 11th, in Marrero, LA.

We've got lots of action in store for you.  The big Mid South Tag Match is on tap.  We’ll see the debut of a young wrestler that goes by the name of the Junkyard Dog.  Prince Pullins and Mike Sharpe will be teaming up.  But when we come back, we’ll have all three of our singles champions in the ring with President Jack Curtis, for a very special announcement.

-------------------------------------Commercial Break---------------------------------
Boyd:  Let's go right to Reiser in the ring, we've got a special announcement from President Jack Curtis regarding the #1 contender for the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship.

<Bob Roop, Killer Karl Kox and Jerry Stubbs all stand in the ring alongside President Jack Curtis holding their championship belts>

Reiser: I am standing here with President Jack Curtis and each of the Mid South singles champions, and Mr. Curtis has an important announcement.

Jack Curtis: As many of you know, NWA World Champ Terry Funk will be coming back to the Mid South and the Louisiana Superdome on July 8th to defend his title against whomever the Mid South deems the #1 contender.  Generally the North American Champion is automatically put in the #1 slot.  However, to allow people to better appreciate the amount of talent and hard work that goes into holding any of our singles titles, we wanted to also consider both the Louisiana and Mississippi Champions as well.

After much discussion we have decided to have a #1 contenders match.  Because the North American Championship is considered to be one of the top belts in the country, and the Mid South's most coveted prize, Killer Karl Kox gets an automatic slot in the #1 contenders match.  Next we had to decide who would face the North American Champion.  We decided that at this late date it would be unfair to make Roop and Stubbs wrestle today without any notice.  It would also be unfair to make them wrestle twice next week.  The we chose was to have a coin flip today between Roop and Stubbs to see who would face Killer Karl Kox next week on television.

So without further ado.  We'll let Bob Roop call the toss, since he not only holds a singles title, but also one half of the tag titles.
<Jack Curtis flips the coin>

Roop:  Tails never fails!!!!!

Curtis:  Tails it is!

<Roop jump up in obvious excitement>

There we have it Killer Karl Kox will face Bob Roop one on one next week on tv.  The winner of this match will get to meet NWA World Champ Terry Funk in the Superdome.

I’d like to thank Jerry Stubbs for participating in the coin flip and wish you the best as the current Mississippi Champion. <Stubbs shakes everyone’s hand and leaves the ring>

Killer Karl Kox, would you like to say a few words.

Kox:  Thanks Mr. Curtis.  Bob Roop, you’re one heck of a champion and wrassler.  We’ll tighten up them boot straps next week and may the best man win.

Terry Funk, I hope your watchin’ cause you escaped out of the Superdome the last time we met, but this time that belt will be staying in the Mid South!!!! <fans cheer wildly>

Curtis: Thanks Mr. Kox.   Mr. Roop?

Roop: I am also very excited to be in this match next week.  It's been my lifelong dream to be the NWA World Champion, so I’m gonna give it my all and do whatever I need to do to win that strap.  My #1 focus will be preparing myself for this match next week so I can have an opportunity to face the World's champion.  Killer Karl Kox and I have been up and down the highways together, but next week we'll have to check our friendships at the door.
<Roop and Kox shake hands and exit the ring>

Ken Mantell:  I'll tell you what Boyd, Bob Roop better wait a while before he starts focusing on next week.  He's got a tag team title defense today!

Boyd: That's right we'll see Bob Roop and Cowboy Bill Watts defend their tag titles right here on tv today.  But when we come back well see the debut of a guy that calls himself the Junkyard Dog.

----------------------------------Commercial Break----------------------------------
Boyd: Welcome back.  I'm excited to see if this newcomer can live up to his name, cause there are not many things meaner than a Junkyard Dog, as Jim Croce says.  Reiser is in the ring for our first match.

Junkyard Dog
vs
Don Serrano

The crowd does'nt really know what to expect from the newcomer, Junkyard Dog, but his strength and charisma are undeniable.  Serrano uses some illegal tactics to gain the upper hand.  However, Serrano makes a fatal mistake and charges JYD who catches him in the air.  JYD lifts him high in the air and comes down on him full force with an awesome powerslam.  1.....2.....3....

<after the win, the Junkyard Dog goes into the seating area where he is greeted and hugged by the fans>

Winner - Junkyard Dog (4:13)

Boyd: It looks like to fans have really taken to this exciting newcomer.

Mantell:  Well it's obvious that his biggest weakness will be worrying about what the fans think about him.

Boyd:   When we return we'll see today's television main event.

-----------------------------------Commercial Break-----------------------------------
Boyd:  Welcome back.   Let's to to Reiser.......

Reiser:  It seems we have a bit of a problem with the tag team champs.
<Bob Roop grabs the microphone>

Roop:  I'd like to apologize to the fans and my partner, but I've got a nagging shoulder injury that my doctor advised that I rest this week.  I could probably go in an emergency, but it's best that I sit this one out.

<Watts grabs the mike>

Watts:  Are you kidding me?  We've got to defend our titles right now, or we'll lose them right here on tv.  You're just finding this out now?  How am I going to get someone to fill in for you right now?

Roop:  I apologize man.  If you had to, you could beat these two chumps by yourself.

Watts:  I just don't understand how you could do this.  What do you mean you could go in an emergency?  This is a tag team title match.

<Junkyard Dog who was just leaving the seating area pauses as he hears this and walks back to the ring>

Roop:  You know what I mean.  It's not like a world title match or anything.  I'm sorry man.  You know I hate doing this, but if I injure my shoulder anymore I could lose my chance at the World's Title Match.

<Watts is shaking his head in disbelief.  JYD steps up>

JYD:  Excuse me Mr. Watts and Mr. Roop, I couldn't help overhearing what was going on.

Roop:  Hey kid, let us handle this.  We've got this under control.

JYD:  I don't mean to mettle, but I know I just finished rassling, but I'd be honored to fill in for you if Mr. Watts can't find anyone else.

Roop:  Look kid, we appreciate the offer, but this is a Mid South Tag Team championship match, I did think you're quite ready......
That isn't Don Serrano standing over there.......<pointing to Ventura and Patera>

Watts:  So you're serious, ha Roop?  You know what?  I may be crazy.......but you know what kid?  I like your spunk.....<gesturing to JYD>

<Jesse Ventura and Ken Patera who had been watching this from their corner approach......Ventura grabs the mic>

Ventura:  Hey we didn't come all the way down to hillbilly country, from New York City to watch you girls kiss....We've  come to win some more gold!!!!!

<Patera hits Watts.   Roop exits the ring, the bell rings and the match is underway>

Mid South Tag Team Championship
Bill Watts & Bob Roop (JYD subbing for Roop) - Champions
vs
Ken Patera & Jesse Ventura

The veterans try to isolate the inexperienced JYD, but his heart and energy more than make up for experience.  However he is fatigued after having already wrestled once earlier.

Watts and JYD, together make a solid team, even in their first match together.

They throw JYD out of the ring and go to work on Watts.  Ventura and Patera use outstanding teamwork to wear down Watts.  Patera delivers a shoulder breaker on Watts, then tags in Ventura who delivers an awesome knee to the chest.  Ventura then climbs to the top rope, against the referee's warning.  Just as he's leaps from the top rope the Junkyard Dog dives in the ring over the prone Watts, taking the full brunt of the knee in his back.  The referee calls an automatic disqualification for coming off the top rope.

Winners by DQ: Watts and JYD (9:02)

<Bob Roop comes to the ring and helps JYD and Watts out of the ring>

Boyd:  That Junkyard Dog has the heart of a lion, if nothing else.

Mantell:  Yeah, and the brains of a scarecrow.

Boyd:  We'll be right back.

----------------------------------Commercial Break-----------------------------------
Boyd:  Reiser is in the ring for our next  match.

Killer Karl Kox
vs
Terry Latham

Kox makes easy work of Latham.  Winning with the brainbuster.
<Deepak Singh sat just out of camera view watching the entire match and taking notes>

Winner : Kox (3:10)

Boyd:  Well be right back.

-------------------------------------Commercial Break-------------------------
Reiser:  Monday night June 25th Mid South Wrestling comes to the Biloxi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum for huge night of wrestling action.

In a return bout, Cowboy Bill Watts & Bob Roop face Ken Patera & Jesse Ventura

Mississippi Heavyweight Championship Jerry Stubbs meets Ken Mantell

The Ortons meet Prince Pullins and Mike Sharpe

The Junkyard Dog will be here, and lots more.

--------------------------------------Commercial Break-------------------------

Boyd:  All of our contestants are ready for the next match.  Let's go to the ring.

Prince Pullins & Iron Mike Sharpe
vs
Carl Fergie & Jerry Usher

Pullins and Sharpe look great together again.  Fergie and Usher are no contest.  Pullins softens Usher up with an outstanding dropkick,  he tags in Sharpe who finishes Usher with a piledriver........1......2......3.

Winners: Pullins & Sharpe (6:34)

---------------------------------Commercial Break------------------------------
Boyd:  We've got about six minutes of airtime remaining.  Let's go to the ring for our final match.  Hopefully we can get a winner before time runs out.

Bob Orton Jr.
vs
Johnny War Eagle

War Eagle controls the early minutes of the match, beating Orton from pillar to post.  But if Orton Jr. is nothing, he's resiliant.  Like a cobra, Orton Jr. takes advantage of an opening and strikes.

Orton Jr. lands a high knee to the chest of War Eagle to delivers a devastating blow.  Orton Jr. then sets War Eagle on the top turnbuckle for the superplex.......1.........2........3..

Winner: Bob Orton Jr. (5:03)

Boyd:  Bob Orton Jr. was impressive once again.

Mantell:  I'll tell you what, Junior is someone who I'd like on my side in a battle.

Boyd:  Well Ken, the clock on the wall says its about that time.  It's been another great hour of wrestling.  Next week we'll see Killer Karl Kox and Bob Roop go one on one, to see who gets a shot at Terry Funk in the Superdome.

Mantell:  I hope they beat each other to death......

Boyd:  For my co-host Ken Mantell, I'm Boyd Pierce, see you next week.
