CWA @ MSC 7/16 Bock v. Roach(British Rules Match)
Jul 18th, 2007, 6:03pm

AWA-CWA Wrestling
Live from the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, TN
Bell time 7/16/77 is 7:30 pm

1)      “Mr. Ebony” Tom Jones and Burrhead Jones defeat the masked Medics when Mr. Ebony locks a full nelson on Medic #1. The Jones boys really seem to have everything rolling against the masked men.
2)      Canada’s next great athlete Kelly Kiniski defeats Don Ross, an impressive physical specimen in his own right, with a big Canadian back breaker. Ross certainly had the power, but no real ring skills.
3)      The Miser leads his Spider to victory over Big Bill Howard. The Spider used his quickness to overmatch the veteran Howard, finishing him off with a big running double axe handle and a flying elbow drop before the 1-2-3.
4)      The Miser stays ringside to see his duo of Phil Hickerson and Dennis Condrey battle Tito Montez and Bobby Jaggers to a brutal and bloody double disqualification. All four men come away a bloody mess in this bruising fist fight.

Intermission: It is announced to the crowd that tonight’s rematch between Pat Roach and AWA World Champion Nick Bockwinkel will be fought under European Rules and supervised by a representative of the BBC, from London England, Lord John Raven. Raven then tells the crowd that what they see may not look as familiar to them as the matches they have seen so far this evening, but it is truly what makes a classic wrestling moment.

5)      The British duo of Jim Breaks and Marc Rocco defeat Ken Dillenger and Bugsy McGraw in an exciting tag team encounter. Rocco gets the pin after delivering a diving head butt to Dillenger to get the 1-2-3.
6)      Jerry “the King” Lawler defeats Dr. David Schultz with a pile driver after Schultz missed Lawler with a running elbow that leveled the official. Schultz was accompanied to the ring by Tojo Yamamoto, but was helped from the ring by medical personnel after getting the pile driver from Lawler.
7)      Butch Malone and “Professor” Bill Ash, substituting for David Schultz, defeat the AWA Southern Tag Team Champions Tommy Rich and Ricky Fields by count out after Ash is able to connect on his Arkansas Whiplash on Rich as both men were on the arena floor. Tommy tried valiantly, but couldn’t beat the ten count. After the match, Ash and Malone pound the champions until the match decision is about to be reversed. Security has to escort the victors back to their locker room.
8)      AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion Ron Bass defeats Memphis favorite “The Fabulous” Jackie Fargo in a hard fought 18-minute contest. Fargo appeared to have the upper hand early, giving the fans in attendance hope, until Tojo Yamamoto got involved, tripping Fargo as he was readying for a big running knee lift. This gave Bass the opening he needed to take control before finishing off the Fabulous One with a gord buster.

Intermission: As the ring crew makes slight modifications to the ring area under the direction of Lord Raven, the fans are reminded that the Main Event will be conducted under British Rules. The special time keeper, Marc Rocco, and the special official, “Gentleman” Jim Breaks are introduced before the combatants.

9)      AWA Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel defeats Pat Roach by disqualification to retain the World Title in a British Rules match. Through out the match, it appears that Lord Raven, who is at ringside “directing” television coverage, is slanting the rules of the contest to the advantage of the challenger by altering round length and after Bockwinkel won the first fall after nearly 25 minute announcing that the match is best of three falls. Roach won the second fall catching the distracted Bockwinkel with a boot to the head and getting the pin after a rather quick count from referee Breaks. The match end in a DQ though because as the match begins its 15th round, the champion is able to lock on his Oriental Sleeper hold. From the back charges a wild looking man with black hair and a kilt that begins to beat away at the World Champion. Breaks refuses to call for the bell and Rocco refuses to ring the bell until CWA head official Tommy Morton hits the ring and calls for the bell. Even still, Lord Raven looks to be directing traffic as all three English men and this wild haired madman continue battering the World Champion until Jerry Lawler, Kelly Kiniski, and Jackie Fargo come from the locker room to clear the ring. Bockwinkel has to be helped from the ring after the carnage finally subsides.

The Jones boy's continue to look good.

The Spider with Miser still looking good as well.

Good match and good win by Condrey and Hickerson.

The Brits looking good as did Ron Bass with his big win!

Different stips there with the main event really mixed things up well.

Great show!

Interesting to see the main event having rounds which is the norm in England, I believe.

I like that Kiniski is involved at the end.

Lawler took care of Shultz. Yamamoto seems to be having trouble keeping his charges on the winning side.

The tag wars between Condrey/ Hickerson and Laggers/ Montez is really reaching me.

Great Memphis action.

I'm glad that fans are liking the direction things are going in Memphis. I wasn't quite sure if my style would translate to this territory as effectivly as it did in to Arizona.

Kiniski is going to be an up and coming figure for Memphis over the months to come. How he will develop fans will have to wait and see.
