CWA 7/18 Tag titles on the line/ Lawler v.Schultz
Jul 19th, 2007, 3:55pm

AWA-CWA Wrestling
Live from the Louisville Gardens, Louisville, KY
Bell time 7/18/77 is 7:00 pm

1)      “Mr. Ebony” Tom Jones and Burrhead Jones defeat the Medics after Tom locks on a full nelson on Medic #1 for the submission victory. Both masked men tried hard, but could not overcome the Jones boys.
2)      Kelly Kiniski defeats Don Ross with the Canadian back breaker. Fans really seemed to be getting behind Kelly during the match.
3)      Tito Montez defeats the Spider by count out in a bloody brawl that sees a great deal of both technical skill and blood-drawing brutality.
4)      Black Angus Campbell, accompanied to the ring by Lord John Raven, demolishes Bugsy McGraw. McGraw is battered from pillar to post and finished off by a big gut wrench suplex from Campbell.
5)      Gentleman Jim Breaks and Marc Rocco defeat the Tommy Gilbert and Jackie Fargo in a rematch from the July 4th spectacular. This time, the veterans seem more prepared, getting quite a few near falls, but Lord John Raven, who remains at ringside with the British contingent, distracts the official after Gilbert had delivered a big vertical suplex to Breaks. Rocco takes advantage of the distraction to deliver a big diving head butt that drills Gilbert and allows Breaks to roll on top of him to get the 1-2-3. Security has to help the trio of Englishmen to the back.
6)      “Superstar” Bill Dundee defeats “Professor” Bill Ash with the Bombs Away after Ash misses on an attempt at the Arkansas Whiplash on the outside. Tojo Yamamoto was at ringside, but very cautious in injecting himself into the match after the reaction of the crowd to the previous match.
7)      Lord John Raven braves a show of trash and verbal abuse to escort Pat Roach to the ring to face Ron Garvin. Garvin and Roach battle for almost 20 minutes before Roach is able to catch a distracted Ronnie with a big boot to the head that he follows up with a big second rope knee drop. The British tandem has to retreat to the back again with the aid of security.
8)      Jerry “the King” Lawler defeats Dr. David Schultz with a second rope fist drop. Schultz seems to be favoring his neck the entire match and was taken down at the end by Lawler delivering a neckbreaker before delivering his final blow.
9)      In the main event, Tommy Rich and Ricky Fields defeat the duo of Dennis Condrey and Phil Hickerson to retain the AWA Southern Tag Team Titles. Ricky dropped Condrey with a missile drop kick and Tommy got the submission with a spinning toe hold.

The Jones boy's keep on winning!

Kiniski and Campbell both looked great in their wins.

The Brits still on a tear!

I love the team of Rich and Fields here! Great win for this exciting duo!

Great show!

Sure wish Hickerson and Condrey could have won the titles but I guess it's not their time.

Good showings by Kiniski and Montez.

The Brits are getting over here in Memphis. Beating Fargo would have had the crowd furious.

Lawler beating Schultz was big.

Great show.

I'll be honest here and say the positive reaction to Kelly's success is a bit surprising to me. I've never really seen Kiniski IRL as more than a solid worker and maybe mid-card guy, but here fans seem behind the youngster and if the crowd is firmly behind him, you'll probably see him moving up the card even more.

One thing you will probably see more of from me than anyone else is tag team wrestling. At my last count, I've got at least 10 regular and semi-regular tag teams that will be on the cards over the coming weeks. If you are the top tag team in Memphis, I want it to mean something. The same can be said about being the top singles wrestler. With at least 5 legit contenders including the champ and 3-4 others that one can build a feud around, there is almost too much one can do here.

Thanks again for all the feedback and more is always appriciated.

I'm not sure how your fans would take to all the Brits, but at least in this case, there's no language problem to keep their motivations from getting across. I think we as promoters sometimes like to shoehorn in things that are different just to be different. I know I've done it. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Good show. Lots of Southern wrestlers who would entertain the Tennessee/Kentucky fans. Maybe put a space between matches, it's a bit hard to read.
