.
.
The opening plays, accompanied by Herb Alpert’s A Bandita.  We see short clips of some of the stars that have appeared on Maple Leaf Wrestling over the years, like Whipper Billy Watson, Gene Kiniski, Bruno Sammartino, Johnny Valentine, Jack Brisco and many more.

We then join Lord Athol Layton standing behind a podium with the Maple Leaf Wrestling logo on it, behind him, the Maple Leaf Wrestling logo and a big red and green Maple Leaf.

Layton: "Cheery-O everyone, welcome to Maple Leaf Wrestling, I'm Lord Athol Layton.  Whether you're on the East coast, the West coast or anywhere in between, we thank you for inviting us into your homes each and every week.  We've got a fantastic show lined up for you today.  The Russian Bear, Ivan Koloff, will be in singles action, as will the United States Champion The Sheik.  The youngster from Montreal, Dino Bravo will be here, and we'll see the tag team of the BlackJacks in action.  Our feature bout will see The Crusaders team up to take on Chris Tolos and the Wildman!  It's going to be an action-packed hour, so let's get things started."

MATCH #1 - 1 fall, 10 minute time limit:
Ivan Koloff defeats a preliminary wrestler on Georgia TV after connecting with a top rope kneedrop onto his opponent, leading to the pinfall.

Eddie Creatchman and U.S. Champion The Sheik walk in and join Layton on the set.

Layton: "Gentlemen, on Thursday night at Maple Leaf Gardens, The Sheik and Chris Colt were involved in a match with Bobo Brazil and Mark Lewin.  Let's take a look at what transpired in the final moments of that match."

VTR - The Sheik & Chris Colt vs Bobo Brazil & Mark Lewin, from July 19 at Maple Leaf Gardens
A big haymaker puts Colt flat on his back on the mat, and Lewin makes a mad dash for his corner!  Bobo comes in, with Colt just starting to get up off the mat.  Bobo pulls Colt up, then whips him into the ropes and gives him a huge back bodydrop.  The Sheik starts to come in, but as he sticks his head through the ropes, Bobo charges at him, driving a knee right into The Sheik's head, and the Noble One tumbles back through the ropes and to the floor!

The fans errupt as Bobo turns his attention back to Chris Colt.  Bobo pulls Colt up off the mat...COCOA-BUTT!!!  Bobo gives Colt the Cocoa-Butt headbutt, and Colt goes down like a sack of potatoes.  As The Sheik starts to pick himself up off the floor on the outside, inside the ring, Bobo covers the barely-conscious Chris Colt, leading to the 1,2,3!!!

After the decision has been announced, The Sheik and Eddie Creatchman enter the ring.  Creatchman berates Colt, telling him that he cost them the match and that he's a loser.  Suddenly, The Sheik attacks Colt from behind and gives him a vicious beating!  Colt's in rough shape anyways, and this isn't helping.  The Sheik pulls Colt up to his feet...FIREBALL!!!  The Sheik throws a fireball at his tag team partner!

WAIT A MINUTE...Bobo Brazil and Mark Lewin charge back down the ramp and into the ring!  They go after Sheik and Creatchman, but they bail out of the ring and hightail it to the locker room.  Bobo and Lewin then come over and check on Colt, who is rolling around on the mat, clutching his eyes.  They help him up and help him to the locker room as the fans give them a thunderous round of applause.

Creatchman: "As you could plainly see, Layton, Chris Colt cost us the match!  Colt was the weak link in that team, and I should've known better than to bring him in as the Sheik's partner.  That was a rare lapse in judgment on my part, Layton.  BUT, it's just a minor setback.  Things are looking up now, because on August 9 at Exhibition Stadium, The Sheik will add the World Heavyweight Championship to his already impressive collection of titles!  Nick Bockwinkel, you had better be ready, my friend, becuse you've never been in the ring with someone like The Sheik."

Layton: "Abdullah the Butcher was victorious as well on Thursday night, he defeated Killer Kowalski.  However, the Butcher is conspicious by his absence here today."

Creatchman: "Don't worry about that, Layton.  The Butcher has some unfinished business to take care of in other territories.  But let this be a warning to each and every wrestler in Toronto...I can bring the Butcher back, at any time, and I will not hesitate to bring him back and unleash him on anyone who DARES to get in my way!"

Layton: "I'm sure the other wrestlers here in Toronto will take that warning very seriously.  Fans, we've got to take our first commercial break, but when we come back, The Sheik will be in action."

Layton: "After what took place on Thursday night at Maple Leaf Gardens, a big tag team grudge match has been signed for August 9 at Exhibition Stadium."

At this time, the camera pans out and The Crusader and Rufus R. Jones are standing with Layton on the set.

Layton: "The Crusader and Rufus R. Jones will team up to face Baron Von Raschke and Greg Valentine in that huge tag team event!"

Jones: Layton, Greg Valentine is scared!  Why else did he refuse a one on one match with me?  He knows what's comin', and he's tryin' to get outta payin' the price for what he did!  Valentine, you listen up, I'm gonna get my hands on you in that tag team match, and after I do...there ain't gonna be nothin' left of ya!"

Layton: "Crusader, you had a match with Baron Von Raschke on Thursday night at the Gardens.  Let's take a look at what transpired in that match."

VTR - The Crusader vs Baron Von Raschke, from July 19 at Maple Leaf Gardens
A low blow from Von Raschke turns the tables, though, the Baron drops the Canadian Champ with a clothesline and goes back to stomping away on the masked man.  Late in the match, The Crusader takes control of the match, he gets a very close nearfall with a sunset flip on Von Raschke.  Crusader nails Von Raschke with a picture-perfect standing suplex, but Von Raschke gets his leg on the rope before the ref can render the three-count.

In the end, Von Raschke is in trouble, the Crusader has him on the ropes, Von Raschke picks the masked man up, and proceeds to dump him over the top rope and to the floor!  The referee immediately calls for the bell, disqualifying Von Raschke for throwing the Champion over the top rope.

Crusader: "Lord, over the last few weeks, Baron Von Raschke would come out here on television, and tell these people that the German wrestlers are superior to any other country.  But, as you just saw, as soon as he got into trouble, he resorted to getting himself intentionally disqualified!  On August 9 at Exhibition Stadium, in this tag team match, I'm going to prove that I am the better man, I'm going to pin his shoulders to the mat for the 1,2,3!"

Layton: "Ladies and gentlemen, that's going to be a match that you certainly do not want to miss, and it will happen on Thursday night, August the 9th at Exhibition Stadium!"

MATCH #3 - 1 fall, 10 minute time limit:
Dino Bravo defeats a preliminary opponent from Midwest TV after putting his opponent in the Airplane Spin, leading to the pinfall.

BlackJack Mulligan walks in and joins Layton on the set.  Mulligan has a title belt over his shoulder.

Layton: "I'm joined at this time by the reigning AWA Midwest heavyweight Champion, BlackJack Mulligan.  Mr. Mulligan, you've defended this title all over the Midwestern U.S.  Let's take a look at some of those title defences.

A Clip Montage of Mulligan's title defences against the likes of Verne Gagne, Wilbur Snyder and Pedro Morales.

Mulligan: "That's right Layton, Ah have defended this title against the very best the rasslin' World has to offer!  Verne Gagne is considered a legend, but Ah beat him!  Same thing with Wilbur Snyder, Ah beat him too.  The AWA keeps linin' 'em up, and Ah keep knockin' 'em down!"

Layton: "On August 9 at Exhibition Stadium, you will defend the title against a young man from Montreal, who we just saw in action a moment ago, Dino Bravo."

Mulligan: "Dino Bravo ain't nothin' but a punk!  Honestly, that boy don't even have what it takes to carry my bags, let alone get in the ring with me!"

Mulligan laughs.

Mulligan: "Looks like Ah got an easy night ahead of me on August 9!"

With that, Mulligan walks off the set.

Layton: "It looks as though BlackJack Mulligan may be underestimating his opponent, and that could prove to be a very big mistake on his part.  When we come back, the BlackJacks will be in tag team action, and we'll talk with Dino Bravo."

MATCH #4 - 1 fall, 10 minute time limit:
The BlackJacks defeat Terry Yorkston & Bob Marcus after Mulligan locks Marcus in the Claw for the submission.

Dino Bravo walks in and joins Layton on the set.

Layton: "Mr. Bravo, we just heard comments before the break from the Midwest Champion BlackJack Mulligan.  You have a match with Mr.Mulligan on August 9 for that title, and as we heard, he predicted he would have an easy night on the 9th."

Bravo: "Lord, I'm not going to take anything away from BlackJack Mulligan.  He's been a very dominant Champion since he won that title, like he said, he's beat Verne Gagne, Wilbur Snyder, Larry Hennig, the list goes on and on.  But, he's not unbeatable, and I'd like to think that I might just be the one to take that Midwest Title from him.  I'm happy to have this great opportunity to wrestle for the title in front of my fellow Canadian fans, I'm not going to disappoint them!"

Layton: "I'm sure all your fellow Canadians would join me in wishing you luck on August 9.  Right now, it's time for our final commercial break, but when we come back, The Crusaders square off with Chris Tolos and the Wildman, and that match will be the most falls to the curfew."

Layton: "An impressive victory for the Crusaders here today.  That does it for another week of Maple Leaf Wrestling.  Next week, we'll have another action-packed hour of Maple Leaf Wrestling for you.  On that show, we'll see the Russian Bear Ivan Koloff in action, as well as Dino Bravo and the BlackJacks!  That's next week on Maple Leaf Wrestling.  Until then, I'm Lord Athol Layton saying so long everyone, and we will see you at ringside!"

Bravo has come close to beating Mulligan before and he may do just that this time.

Can't wait to see Rufus get a hold of Valentine.

Colt could come back and make life tough for The Sheik.

Sheik and Bock will be great on Aug. 9th.

Great TV.
