SYNDICATED THROUGHOUT FLORIDA AND THE SOUTHEAST

Gordon stands outside in front of the Miami Beach Auditorium. He says that Championship Wrestling from Florida this week will start inside the Miami Beach Auditorium with the empty arena match between Dusty Rhodes and The Assassin. It will take the place of the TV Title match this week. The only people in the building will be the wrestlers, cameramen, referee Sonny Driver, and Gordon.

The rest of the show back at the Tamps Sportatorium will feature tag action and a main event of Mike Graham battling Chief Tio. The sizzling summer action will begin when CWF returns.

THE ASSASSIN vs. DUSTY RHODES

The Great Bolo is not allowed in the arena for this match. Gordon barely gets in the introductions before the enemies go at it. Both wrestlers work on the shoulders. Driver stops Assassin from loading up the mask. Gordon points out that this kind of match allows the referee not to have to worry about outside distractions. Dusty knocks the object out to the arena floor.

Even though the match has a regular count out, Driver allows the wrestlers to take it to each other on the arena floor. The Assassin throws Rhodes into the chairs at ringside. A chair shatters and Assassin starts to beat Rhodes with it. Driver tries to get in between. Assassin hits Driver with a piece of the chair. Driver calls for the bell.

Assassin continues to beat Rhodes. He drags Rhodes to the concessions stand and rams The Dream’s head into a pop corn machine. Assassin laughs at the camera and leaves a bloody Rhodes.

DUSTY RHODES (W) by DQ @ 13:04

Gordon says that it looks like Stardust has lost the battle and the war. He says that the show will return to the Tampa Sportatorium after this.

A local promo airs for the matches at the Robarts Sports Arena in Sarasota on July 22. Bell time is 7 PM.
.
.
The show returns to a VTR of Austin Idol. He mentions the attempt of Buddy Colt to get involved in his match with The Spoiler in Fort Lauderdale. He says that if Colt wants to get involved, Jackson, he’ll make it easy for him. Wrestle Idol in a handicap match with Spoiler as his partner. Idol looks at the camera and says, please come into the Heartthrob’s pad.

Gordon, sitting at the interview desk, says he knows Idol has lots of youthful energy, but Colt is a former Florida Heavyweight Champion with a handful of tricks he probably hasn’t seen. A handicap tag match may be too much for the Southern champ to overcome.

Gordon sends it to the ring.

BOB ARMSTRONG/ RIC DRASIN vs. JACK ARMSTRONG/ DOUG SOMMERS

Armstrong and Sommers get in very little offense in this match. Drasin and Armstrong dominate, with Drasin pinning Sommers after a pile driver.

ARMSTRONG/ DRASIN (W) @ 3:19

Armstrong and Drasin meet Gordon at the interview desk.

Armstrong tells Gordon he is not finished giving that pansy Garvin an old fashioned Georgia butt whipping. Drasin says he can take losing to Strong but Strong and a loaded elbow getting the win sits in his crawl. Strong doesn’t pin him with a pile driver—Drasin’s finisher…Not in his house.

Gordon says that the Beauty and the Beast may not live happily ever after if these two men have anything to say about it. The Brisco Brothers are next.

The show returns to Jack and Jerry Brisco joining Gordon at the interview desk. The Brothers mention The Spoiler getting involved in matches between Jack and Buddy Wolff for the Florida Heavyweight title. Jack says for the masked man to face him and Jerry straight up and tag with Wolff. Jerry says those bums don’t want any of what the fans are going to see up next.

THE BRISCO BROTHERS vs. CHIN LEE/ THE RUSSIAN SICKLE

The only moves the heels get in are when Wolff, Spoiler, and Humperdink come out to watch the match. Jack and Jerry quicken up the pace, with Jerry scoring the submission from Lee with a figure four.

BRISCOS (W) @ 3:39

The Briscos chase the trio to the back after the match is over.

Paul De Marco comes out to the interview desk. Gordon welcomes him to the Florida wars. De Marco rudely cuts Gordon off and says he will take whatever methods he has to to get to the top of the card. Nelson Royal seems to have been put in his way of making that climb. He wrestled Royal to a 20-minute draw in Miami Beach last week. That won’t happen this week. Trust him.

Gordon says a new team from the Southwest makes their debut here next.

A local promo airs for the card at the Jacksonville Coliseum on July 25. Bell time is 7 PM.
.
.

Buddy Colt joins Gordon at the interview desk. He is laughing uncontrollably. Idol wants a man in the ring that has learned more wrestling in his sleep that he has in his career. Idol wants him in a match with the intimidating Spoiler as his partner. Colt turns slowly to Gordon and says, “Deal done.”

Gordon points out that the Grand Canyon State has sent quite a few wrestlers to Florida in recent days. Ric Drasin, Cien Caras, Paul DeMarco…to mention a few. The next team is a part of that invasion.

HERCULES STEVENSON/ MACHO MAN JOHN RINGER vs. MIKE DAVIS/ DENNIS HALL

Hall and Davis get in some offense early in the match. Stevenson and Ringer confer on the floor, firing each other up. Davis is the partner that bears the brunt of that motivation.

The duo double teams Davis. The match ends as Ringer has Davis in a bear hug. Stevenson tags Ringer’s back. Ringer increases the pressure and Davis’s shoulders hit the mat. Stevenson lands an elbow drop and pins Davis.

STEVENSON/ RINGER (W) @ 4:03

Gordon brings Stevenson and Ringer over to the desk.

Ringer says that he and Hercules are used to champagne dreams on a caviar budget. He says they have to beat somebody big to make that happen. Stevenson says that the promoters have put Brunzell and Eaton in their way. Good for us; bad for them.

Gordon reminds the fans the main event is next.

A local promo airs for the card at the Miami Jai-Alai Fronton on July 27. Bell time is 7 PM.

A VTR airs from the Orlando Sports Arena. Sir Oliver Humperdink says since The Manchurians pinned Austin Idol in a tag match his men should be considered the number one contenders for the Florida tag belts. Today, Chief Tio will show Mike Graham what it means to be in the Samoan War Zone.

MIKE GRAHAM vs. CHIEF TIO

This is a highly violent match, which works in the Chief’s favor. The one mistake Tio makes in the match almost costs him the victory. He charges Graham in the corner and Graham ducks. Tio hits his shoulder on the ring post. Graham goes to the top rope for a flying body press.

Humperdink jumps up to the ring apron. Driver makes Humperdink go back down to the floor. Humperdink pulls Driver down with him. While this is happening, Tapu comes in and shakes the ropes. Graham hits the ropes, crotch first. Tio follows up with a vertical suplex for the win.

CHIEF TIO (W) @ 6:29.

The beating continues until Steve Keirn and Eddie Graham clear the ring.

SOLIE: So long from the Sunshine State.

All matches on today’s card are promoted under the banner of Championship Wrestling from Florida. The bouts are sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance, professional wrestling’s oldest governing body.

Tough loss for Graham in the ME, but hte Manchurians are one of the toughest team in Florida.

Like the push I'm seeing for Stevenson and Ringer. As you know, they were stallwarts in AZ and can really show their skills here.

Really liked the Assasin-Rhodes match, but I thought there was no DQ in an empty arena match...

Solid TV.

Neat concept with the empty arena.

Rhodes over the Assassin was a good win.

Good win by Armstrong/Drasin.

Anytime the Briscos team together is a good thing!

Stevenson/Ringer still looking good!

Great idea, great show!
