"Mid-Pacific Wrestling" 7/28/77
Jul 23rd, 2007, 7:22pm

“Mid-Pacific Wrestling”
KITV4 Studios
Announcers-Lord James Blears and Ed Francis
Taped-7/8/77
Airs-7/28/77

Blears opens the show with High Chief Peter Maivia.

Blears, “Tally-Ho everyone and aloha! I’m here with High Chief Peter Maivia. Peter, you certainly surprised Ripper Collins last week.”

Maivia, “I did. He cheated to beat Don Leo Jonathan and I wasn’t happy with that. I’m glad that I will be getting a chance at the Hawaiian Title.”

Blears, “Yes you will. Tomorrow night at the Blaisdell Center, it will be Peter Maivia taking on Ripper Collins for the Hawaiian Title. Don’t miss that one. We will see Peter in action later in the program. Also fans we will see the two semi-final matches in the tournament for the Hawaiian Tag Team Titles. The Wild Samoans will meet Johnny Karisma and Jerry Monit and the Von Steigers will take on Bill Francis and Sam Steamboat.”

Match #1
High Chief Peter Maivia def. “Handsome” John Anson (6:49) w/Samoan stump puller

Ed Francis is with the Destroyer.

Francis, “Destroyer, you are one of the best known masked men in the sport. You didn’t make it to the finals of the tournament for the Hawaiian Title. What are your plans now?”

Destroyer, “First of all, it’s the ‘Intelligent, Sensational Destroyer. I would have won the title if you hadn’t assigned an incompetent official in my match with Jonathan. Now I get another chance to show him what I can do.”

Francis, “That’s right, tomorrow night, at Blaisdell, it will be the Destroyer vs. Don Leo Jonathan.”

Destroyer, “Intelligent, Sensational Destroyer, get it right Francis and Jonathan, I will beat you!”

Match #2
The Destroyer def. Robert Toronto (4:28) w/airplane spin

Blears is with the Hawaiian Champion Ripper Collins.

Blears, “Mr. Collins, you heard Peter Maivia, he’s ready for you.”

Collins, “Ready for the ‘King’? You must be kidding. That tattooed savage is a pretender. I am the ‘King of Wrestling’ and the ‘King of Hawaii’. All my loyal subjects love and worship me. They know I will destroy Maivia, just like I did Jonathan.”

Blears, “Pretty big talk, Mr. Collins. I think it will be a great match.”

Match #3
Non-Title Match
Ripper Collins (Hawaii Champion) def. Mr. X (6:18) w/elbow drop

Francis is with the Von Steiger Brothers.

Francis, “Gentlemen, you go to the ring to meet Bill Francis and Sam Steamboat. Can you beat them?”

Kurt V.S., “Two Hawaiians? Of course we can beat them. We are proud Prussian Warriors, those two are low-life Hawaiians.”

Karl V.S., “Francis, you’d love to see your idiot son and that pineapple picker beat us, but deep in your heart, you know they cannot. The Von Steiger Brothers will rule over these miserable islands!”

Francis, “Let’s go to the ring for the first semi-final match.”

Match #4
Semi-Final Match in the Tag Team Tournament
The Von Steiger Brothers def. Bill Francis and Sam Steamboat (6:03) Kurt V.S. w/claw vs. Francis

We see a highlight package of the Samoans in action.

Blears, “The Samoans take on Johnny Karisma and Jerry Monti next.”

Match #5
Semi-Final Match in the Tag Team Tournament
The Wild Samoans def. Johnny Karisma and Jerry Monti (5:20) Afa w/Samoan drop vs. Monti

Blears and Francis wrap up the show.

Blears, “Tomorrow night at Blaisdell, here’s what you will see,

For the Hawaii Title
Peter Maivia vs. Ripper Collins

For the Hawaii Tag Team Titles
Von Steiger Brothers vs. Wild Samoans

Destroyer vs. Don Leo Jonathan

Andre the Giant vs. Johnny Karisma and Mr. X

Oh man, I can't wait to see that match between Destroyer and Don Leo Jonathan, that'll be a great one!

Maivia vs Collins will be a great match as well.  I had a lot of fun with those two when I was booking San Francisco around Christmas time, and I'll glad to see them pick things up again here in Hawaii!

Look big daddy, it's regular daddy.

El Mariachi: You want me to shoot the cook?
Agent Sands: No. I'll shoot the cook. My car's parked out back anyway.

Since Hawaii is the first promotion I ever did in this kind of setting, I always am happy to see some action outta the Aloha state. A great show, full of action and I can't wait to see what comes next
