Looking for results from Charlotte on Christmas 88
Jul 24th, 2007, 11:43pm

My buddy went to a show in Charlotte in Christmas of 88.  I can't find the results.  When I go to the Cawthon page my computer shuts down, says there's a virus detected and an alarm goes off.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cawthon only has one match listed for that show:

NWA @ Charlotte, NC - December 25, 1988 (5,000)
NWA World Champion Ric Flair defeated Eddie Gilbert (sub. for Sting) (the first ever Flair-Gilbert match)

Never understood why more wasn't done with Flair vs Gilbert. They had a match or two on TBS in late 1988-early 1989 that led to Steamboat arriving as Gilbert's mystery partner vs Flair and Barry Windham. That could have been some good stuff, but I think Flair and Eddie butted heats creatively behind the scenes so I guess that worked againsta  program ever getting rolling.

Eddie was relatively small, and it was clear from day one that he was going to be a  mid-card guy there. I mean, the guy teamed with Ron Simmons, who was not getting a substantial push by any means, against the Fantastics, and it was Gilbert who did the job. I don't think it had anything to do with butting heads creatively.
