The veteran Steamboat has returned to Hawaii and the Blasidell crowd is solidly behind him. The match is a scientific encounter and Steamboat wins with a flying bodypress.
Winner-Sam Steamboat (16:28)

Second Match, one fall, 20 minutes
Bill Francis vs. Dr. Hiro Ota

Francis is the son of famous Hawaiian wrestler and promoter, Ed Francis. The devious Ota will be a stiff test. The early moments belong to Francis, as he uses his wrestling skill to tie Ota in knots. Ota makes a comeback, but Francis rallies. Ota turns Francis away from the official and lands a karate thrust to the throat. He covers Bill for the win.
Winner-Dr. Hiro Ota (16:27)

Third Match, one fall, 20 minutes

The veteran from  New Zealand takes on the tough man from Samoa. Toronto uses some roughhouse tactics, but Rickard retaliates and wins with the sleeper.
Winner-Steve Rickard (14:12)

Fourth Match, one fall, 30 minutes
Superfly Tui vs. Waldo Von Erich

The vicious German attacks Tui before the bell. Von Erich is unstoppable. He pounds Superfly from pillar to post and wins with a kneedrop from the top rope.

Sixth Match, one fall, 60 minutes
The Destroyer vs. Don Leo Jonathan

These two men met in the Semi-Finals of the Hawaii Title tournament. It was a great match with Jonathan getting the nod. The rematch should be just as good. The two veterans start out cautiously. They do not want to make a mistake. The Destroyer lands a boot to the mid-section and he takes over. The masked man works over Jonathan he whips him into the ropes and clamps on the sleeper.  This could be it. Jonathan gets to the ropes and the hold is broken. Von Steiger backs Afa into the corner and both Germans go to work. Things look bad early, but Afa is able to tag in his brother. Big Sika is able to clean house. The next few minutes belong to the Samoans. Kurt rakes Afa’s eyes to turn the tide. The Germans take over, and its looks bad for the Samoans. All four men end up in the ring. While Afa and Kurt brawl in the corner, Sika Samoan drops Karl and covers him for the win. The Wild Samoans are the Hawaii Tag Team Champions!

Main Event, one fall, 60 minutes
Hawaii Championship
Peter Maivia vs. Ripper Collins

Collins shot off his mouth and the High Chief answered the challenge. Maivia waits in the ring as Collins stalls. The bell rings and the “King of the Islands” takes to the floor. He argues with the ringsiders and Maivia gets more and more frustrated. Finally Collins enters the ring and they lock up. The early minutes off the match are all Maivia. The Challenger scores several nearfalls and the Collins is in trouble. Collins is able to go to the illegal tactics and gain the advantage. Collins gets a two count, but Maivia kicks out. Collins goes for the elbow drops, but Maivia rolls out of the way. The brawl continues until both men end up on the arena floor. The referee’s count reaches 20 and both men are counted out.

I can't imagine a better team to be the champs in Hawaii than the Wild Samoans. Afa and Sika can dominate there for as long as they want.

Liked the DLJ-Destroyer match with Jonathon coming out on top. I doubt this is the end of this feud though as ther is too much money that can be made from it.

Collins and Maivia will also be a long feud and somehow I don't see Collins keeping the belt for much longer.

Strong show from the NWA

I loved the Destroyer/ Jonathan match. it was a great one.

Collins is not going to beat off Maivia every night. If Maivia is able to compete regularly in Hawaii, it is only a matter of time.

The Samoans will be tough to beat.

Big night for Andre.

Great Hawaii action.
