The Assassin is back in the studio today, as he will put the Florida TV Title up against Cien Caras. Bob Armstrong and Paul DeMarco are in singles action. The House of Humperdink is represented by the team of Buddy Wolff and The Spoiler. Gordon assures the audience they won’t want to miss a minute of the CWF action, which starts after these messages. . .COMMERCIALS . . An angry Dusty Rhodes is at the interview desk before the studio crowd is let in. He says he is tired of turning around and seeing The Assassin in his face. This has to stop and he knows just how to bring it to a close. On August 17th, at the Orlando Sports Arena, CWF is having a Back-to-School Spectacular. Dream turns toward the camera and says let’s turn out the lights and let the party be over. Assassin, let it be me and you: Loser Leaves Florida for 90 Days, Lights Out Match. Gordon talks about a commercial that says G. E. brings good things to light. Well, taking the lights away in Orlando on August 17th may bring bad things to light for The Assassin. We’ll get the TV champ’s thoughts after his title defense. TV TITLE MATCH THE ASSASSIN w/ THE GREAT BOLO vs. CIEN CARAS The promoters chose Caras because of his recent winning streak. Early in the match, Caras, with his lucha style, presents problems for The Assassin. On a flying leg scissors attempt, the masked villain grabs the ropes. Caras hits his shoulder hard on the mat. Assassin cinches in and punishes the shoulder. Despite some mini-rallies by Caras, Assassin is able to get the win with a standing hammerlock. THE ASSASSIN w/ BOLO (W) @ 7:28 The Assassins, Unlimited members join Gordon at the desk. Assassin points to his head and says the lights must be off in Dusty’s head, too, if he wants a lights out match with him. Bolo says no sanctions by the NWA means no Pillsbury Dough Boy for 90 days. Betty Crocker won’t have the competition to worry about. Gordon says that the Lights Out match won’t be anything to laugh about on August 17th. Paul DeMarco gets in the CWF TV ring when the action continues. . . COMMERCIALS . , A local promo airs for the card at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona, Florida on July 29th. Bell time is 7 PM. . . The Great Bolo remains at the interview desk during the second match. Gordon asks him if he is interested in expanding Assassins, Unlimited. Bolo just says, “Deal with it. You have no other alternative!” Gordon says he really does, but, like Andy Griffith, he will let it slide in the name of good fellowship. PAUL DEMARCO vs. NELSON ROYAL Gordon mentions that Royal and DeMarco have wrestled in different arenas in CWF over the past two weeks, with DeMarco getting the best of Royal. Bolo mentions that Royal was the Junior Heavyweight Champion and that says volumes. Bolo gives several technical insights. Both wrestlers take advantages early on. Bolo leaves the interview desk at one point. Royal is distracted by that and DeMarco slips in from behind and executes a belly-to-back suplex. DeMarco puts his feet on the ropes for extra leverage on the pin. DEMARCO (W) @ 6:28. Bolo looks hard at Royal and shakes his head as he leaves. Royal is obviously frustrated. Gordon says that Bob Armstrong is not feeling Gorgeous lately and he tells the fans why next. . . COMMERCIALS . . A film clip shows a match from Sarasota between Bob Armstrong and Jimmy Garvin. Garvin pulls an object from his boot and uses it on Armstrong for the win. Gordon says that Armstrong has won and lost a lot of matches in his career. He told Gordon that it will never be over with Garvin when Garvin beats him like that. They will talk after the next match. BOB ARMSTRONG vs. BILL WHITE The veterans put on a match that is a crowd pleaser. White doesn’t break the rules, but he bends them pretty well. He gives Armstrong all he can handle. A thunderous knee lift from out of nowhere helps take out White. Armstrong applies the spinning toe hold for the win. ARMSTRONG (W) @ 4:15 After the match, Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin and The Great Bolo attack Armstrong. Garvin picks Armstrong up and lands a brain buster. Garvin, then, pulls off his belt and whips Armstrong with it. Ric Drasin comes in and runs Garvin and Bolo off. Security and Drasin carry Armstrong to the back. An exasperated Gordon sends the camera to black. . . COMMERCIALS . . A local promo comes on urging fans to come see the card at the Miami Beach Convention Hall on August 1st. Bell time is 7 PM. . . Jack Brisco has a promo from a locker room. He says he is tired of his matches against Florida champion Buddy Wolff being decided from outside the ring. He wants a lumberjack match at the Miami Beach Convention Hall this Wednesday. He knows he can beat the pants off Wolff if the match stays in the ring. Gordon seems surprised with this announcement. He surmises that Wolff and Humperdink will be just as surprised with it after this upcoming match. THE SPOILER/ BUDDY WOLFF w/ SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK vs. DANNY MILLER/ DENNIS HALL Wolff and Spoiler dominate this match. The end comes when Wolff Irish whips Miller into the ropes. He lifts Miller into a bear hug. Spoiler leaps from the middle turnbuckle and drives Miller to the mat with a claw. The winning pin quickly follows. SPOILER/ WOLFF w/ HUMPERDINK (W) @ 3:28 The three House members join Gordon at the interview desk. Gordon tells Humperdink of the lumberjack stipulation. Humperdink seems confident that Wolff will still win. He says that Brisco’s superior attitude has rubbed a lot of wrestlers in both locker rooms the wrong way. Lumberjacks may not be the edge Brisco wants. Humperdink is about to take his men to the back when Gordon asks him if he has heard about the match he will be involved in for the Back-to-School Spectacular on August 17th. Humperdink says he is just trying to lead his men one match at a time. Gordon says that Austin Idol will take on Humperdink and a partner in a handicap match. Humperdink looks a little scared but says any House member would give him an advantage. Gordon asks what advantage Buddy Colt would give him. The crowd erupts and Humperdink takes his charges off camera quickly. Gordon reminds the audience the main event is next. . . COMMERCIALS . . A local promo airs for the matches at the Fort Homer Hesterly Armory in Tampa on August 3rd. Bell time is 7 PM. . . A montage of match action featuring Antonio Inoki airs. A picture of the Florida title is shown on the screen. The word “NEXT” is superimposed. Gordon says that whoever is the Florida Titleholder on August 17th will defend against Antonio Inoki in Orlando. STEVE KEIRN vs. PRINCE TAPU w/ HUMPERDINK Keirn comes into the ring first. Before Tapu and Humperdink can get to the ring, Keirn goes after Tapu. He runs Tapu’s head into the pole and Humperdink is furious. Keirn takes a bloody into the ring and wears Tapu down. Humperdink gets involved with a clumsy, but effective, chop to Keirn’s throat. A belly-to-belly suplex by Tapu is followed by a pin. Keirn puts his foot on the rope. Eventually, Humperdink tries to use a Florida tag belt again. Mike Graham tries to take it from him and it accidentally hits Tapu. Keirn clamps on a sleeper for the win. KEIRN (W) @ 5:39 Humperdink rushes to the interview desk. He says Chief Tio has the flu today and this would never have happened if he had been here. Hump demands a match for The Manchurians next week, title on the line or not. SOLIE: So long from the Sunshine State. Promoted by: CWF Sanctioned by: NWA
