Taped on 7/29/77
Airs on 8/4/77 Blears and Francis open the show.
Blears, “Aloha and tally-ho everyone. We have a lot to talk about today. We have new tag team champions, the Samoans, and we will talk to Ripper Collins, the Hawaii Champion, and to Don Leo Jonathan, the Number One Contender.”
Francis, “Lord James, wrestling in Hawaii is back in full swing. Let’s go to the ring for our first match.”
Match #1
Sam Steamboat def. Ati Tago (5:59) w/flying bodypress Blears is with Sam Steamboat.
Blears, “Sam, welcome back to Hawaii.”
Steamboat, “Thank you Lord Blears. It is a pleasure to be back in the Islands. I’ve traveled the world, but it’s great to be home again.”
Blears, “Sam, what are your plans, now that you are here?”
Steamboat, “Well, I’ll wrestle anyone. I’d love to get a shot at Collins and the title, but one thing comes first. I saw and heard what Waldo Von Erich has been saying about the good people of Hawaii. I don’t like it and I want to show that arrogant German what a Hawaiian can do.”
Blears, “I think that would be a great match and I know Ed Francis will get to work on it.”
Match #2
Don Leo Jonathan def. Dr. Hiro Ota (6:19) w/giant swing Blears is with Jonathan.
Blears, “Don Leo, that was quite a win, as was your win over the Destroyer at Blaisdell.”
Jonathan, “Thank you, Lord Blears. I was fortunate to beat the Destroyer. He is very good. Now I want to talk about Ripper Collins. He survived against Peter Maivia through cheating and luck. Peter has commitments in other parts of the country, so he won’t be back for a while, but Collins, I’m still here! You cheated to win the Hawaii Title and I want my revenge! Collins, there is another show at Blaisdell on August 26, I want a Hawaii Title match with you!”
Blears, “Collins will be out here later. I’m sure he will have an answer.”
Match #3
Non-Title Match
The Samoans (Hawaii Tag Team Champions) def. “Handsome” John Anson and Johnny Karisma (7:32) Afa w/Samoan drop vs. Karisma Blears is with the Von Steiger Brothers.
Blears, “Gentlemen, you had your chances against the Samoans, but they got away with the titles.”
Kurt V.S., “Those two savages had great fortune that night. The fans were on their sides, Ed Francis and Lord Blears were on their sides and more importantly, the referee was on their sides. My brother and I did not expect the dishonest behavior of the official. We understand what we are up against. We have signed a contract for a rematch at Blasidell on the 26th. “
Blears, “That will be some match. I think I would question your description of the title match. I do not think the official was biased in any way.”
Karl V.S., “Listen to us, you stupid Englishman, my brother and I expected a wrestling a match and instead we got a street fight. We will be ready this time.”
Bears, “There you have it fans, a rematch between the Samoans and the Von Steigers for August 26, at the Blaisdell Center.”
Match #4
Non-Title Match
Ripper Collins (Hawaii Champion) def. Superfly Tui (5:41) w/elbow drop Blears is with Collins.
Blears, “Mr. Collins, you escaped against the ‘High Chief’, but now the ‘Mormon Giant’ wants you in the ring.”
Collins, “No, no, no! I don’t have time for Jonathan. I have commitments all over the world. I have a screen test in Hollywood, the Queen of England wants to meet me, I have a vacation on the French Riviera scheduled. I don’t have time to wrestle some genetic freak from Utah.”
Don Leo Jonathan comes out.
Jonathan, “Collins, you coward! Get in the ring with me!”
Collins, “I don’t have time.”
Ed Francis comes out.
Francis, “Listen Collins, you may be the Champion, but you are not the matchmaker, I am. Don Leo Jonathan is the Number One Contender. He beat the Destroyer at Blaisdell and he deserves a shot at the Hawaii Title and he’ll get one, on the 26th. It will be Ripper Collins vs. Don Leo Jonathan at Blaisdell!”
Collins argues, but to no avail.
