AWA-CWA Wrestling Live from the Mid-South Coliseum, Memphis, TN Bell time 7/30/77 is 7:30 pm and matches are filmed for possible future broadcast 1) The BBC pairing of Marc Rocco and Jim Breaks mauls “Mr. Ebony” Tom Jones and Burrhead Jones. Rocco and Breaks are incredibly aggressive and to gain the submission victory, Breaks appears to dislocate the shoulder of Burrhead Jones. Rocco dropkicks Mr. Ebony off the ring apron to secure the win for the BBC. 2) Dutch Mantel defeats the Spider with a little assistance from his bull whip, hitting the masked man in the throat with the butt of the whip after a hard fought match. The Miser was berating the official, trying to create an opening for his man, ended up costing as the official missed the usage of the whip. 3) The massive Sugar Bear Harris defeats Don Ross in a body slam challenge match. Tojo Yamamoto was are ringside waving the now thousand dollars that will go to the first man to body slam Harris. Ross instead felt a huge splash in the corner and a big elbow drop to secure the 1-2-3 to go with Yamamoto san’s money. 4) Bobby Jaggers and Tito Montez defeat the Medics after Jaggers delivered a big hangman’s neck breaker. 5) Kelly Kiniski defeats Black Angus Campbell by disqualification when a frusterated Campbell drills a bloody Kiniski with a ringside chair after Kelly had repeatedly kicked out from pin attempts by the muscular Scotsman. 6) Bill Dundee defeats “Professor” Bill Ash with the Bomb’s Away. Both men got several near falls, but Dundee was able to pull things together at the end. 7) In a shocking match, Tommy Gilbert and Jackie Fargo fall to Lord John Raven and a massive mountain of a man he called his Scottish Giant. Neither Fargo nor Gilbert could get the Giant off his feet and both men were dropped with a massive splash in the corner and a standing elbow drop that pinned Gilbert for the 1-2-3. After the match, Lord Raven covered Fargo and demanded that the official count a second pin fall and under threat from the Giant, Tommy Morton counts Raven over Fargo 1-2-3. 8) Jerry “the King” Lawler defeats Butch Malone with a big fist drop off the second rope in a highly competitive match. Malone and his manager, Yamamoto, kept up the pressure on Lawler, but the King moved one step closer to getting his title shot. 9) The Miser’s duo of Phil Hickerson and Dennis Condrey defeats Southern Tag Team Champions Tommy Rich and Ricky Fields by count out after Phil drops Tommy Rich across the top rope with a reverse suplex that then has Tommy flailing on the coliseum floor, clutching his throat. The Miser then pushes his men to go after Ricky Fields and beat him down with Condrey connecting with a underhook pile driver before the three men retreat to the locker room. 10) In a battle for the AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship, Ron Garvin defeats Outlaw Ron Bass by disqualification. Garvin seemed in full control of the contest, but at every turn, Tojo Yamamoto worked for his man, finally saving the title for Bass by throwing salt into the eyes of Garvin in full view of referee Tommy Morton. Morton has to ring the bell, but this allows Bass to finally wail away at Garvin until Jerry Lawler comes to the ring, forcing Bass and Yamamoto san to slink to the back.
