Jeff Hardy in the doghouse
Jul 31st, 2007, 7:41pm

Dave Scherer is reporting that Jeff Hardy no showed last night's Raw without ever contacting anyone to say he wouldn't be there. He is in serious hot water right now and his job is in serious jeopardy. His program with Umaga has been scrapped and Umaga was turned face on last night't Raw.

- Scherer reports as well that Lashley is legitamitely hurt which is why they ran the angle on Raw last night where his shoulder was injured by Kennedy and his feud with Carlito was dropped with no explination. He has been experiencing pain in the shoulder since suffering an injury at Backlash in April. He saw Dr. Andrews in May but continued to work until this week when the injury got worse. Lashley is going to have his injury examined by Andrews in Birmingham tomorrow but he is hopeful that he won't need surgery.

- Mike Johnson is reporting that Triple H will actually make his return on the 8/13 Raw from Madison Square Garden.

They're really having problems...Edge is out, Triple H is out, Michaels is out, 'Taker's out, now Lashley may be next?  That sucks!

I did wonder why they didn't do something with Hardy last night, he attacks Umaga last week, then nothing.  It did seem weird, I guess that explains it.

So I'm assuming last night was the start of a Santino - Umaga double turn, as Santino certainly came across like a heel, at least to me.

Regarding Rey, I'm not really sure, he's just never done anything for me, personally.

That's not to say he's not a good wrestler, and obviously he's very popular, but just me personally, I've never been a fan of his.

Rey's a great wrestler, but I don't think he should've received a run at the World "Heavyweight" title. Now, as far as the "Cruiserweight" title goes, that's a different story.

Rey dominated the cruiserweight division 10 years ago. And without much emphasis put on that division, it's kind of a waste for him to be in that spot at this point...

Although you could look at it the other way round in that if Rey had that belt then it would make it seem more important (much like the almost surreal 'visibility' of the IC title being on Umaga throughout his Mania main event program).

Vince isn't hot on Rey holding the adult's belt, nor really beating any top grown-up guys, so Rey is in this weird position of being a headliner that Vince is seriously biased against putting over anyone....therefore he naturally is going to lose a lot to bigger guys maybe leading up to fluke PPV wins for the payoff. Perhaps a 'heat saving' device would be Rey being a long term Cruiserweight champ....he would be able to dominate & beat the normal Cruiserweight wrestlers week in week out (perhaps giving those guys the much needed rub in the process), but when he fights bigger guys to whom he'll usually lose, they can do a deal where the Cruiserweight title is not on the line when facing people outside that weight class, so even if he suffers a high profile defeat against, say, Umaga, they can play up the deal that Rey is still a fighting, dominant cruiserweight champion who valiantly tried to wrestle someone who greatly out-powered him.

They could even have a special Rey Rey kiddies belt with funny eyes + JD Costello, sure to be hot at the merch table.... Wink

I think it would be great if the WWE pulled the wool over everyone with all this build up of bringing Rey back, and having everyone looking forward to his return, only to turn him into a major heel. And then give him a big run with the Cruiserweight belt.
