CWF MIAMI BEACH-TITLE CHANGE-8/1/77
Aug 1st, 2007, 9:02am

CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING FROM FLORIDA
MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION HALL
MAIMI BEACH, FLORIDA
AUGUST 1, 1977 7 PM
REFEREE: LEO GARIBALDI

Promoted by: CWF
Sanctioned by: NWA

Match 1-

THE CREEPER defeats JUAN SEBASTIAN with a backside.

Time: 7:29

Match 2-

HERCULES STEVENSON defeats NELSON ROYAL

Late in the match, Stevenson catches Royal in a belly-to-belly suplex. He goes right in for the cover. Garibaldi counts Royal’s shoulders down, even though he clearly gets his foot on the rope before three. Royal argues mightily and slams the ropes in disgust before leaving.

Time: 14:29

Match 3-

JIM BRUNZELL/ BOBBY EATON defeat MISSOURI MAULER/ PAUL DEMARCO

The two ring veterans take advantage of the youthful inexperience of Eaton for much of the match. Mauler and DeMarco work on Eaton’s neck and shoulders. Brunzell does manage to weaken Mauler’s back when he is in there.

The end of the match comes when a double clothesline sends DeMarco through the ropes to the arena floor. He hits the floor hard. Mauler is hit by a double dropkick, further hurting his back. While Brunzell watches out for DeMarco, Eaton catches Mauler in a fisherman’s suplex for the pinfall.

Time: 18:39

Match 4-

GORGEOUS JIMMY GARVIN w The Great Bolo/ THE SPOILER w Sir Oliver Humperdink defeat BOB ARMSTRONG/ RIC DRASIN.

Spoiler and Garvin try to get Armstrong to lose his cool by stalling early on. It works and Spoiler especially focuses in on the head of the Georgia star. Garvin and Drasin try to make shows of strength, which gives Drasin a distinct advantage.

Drasin is chasing Humperdink and Spoiler around the ring as the match comes to a close.
The Great Bolo jumps on the ring apron. Garvin takes a belt buckle from his inside his boot. He hits Armstrong in the throat with it, as Garibaldi puts Bolo back on the floor.
Garvin lifts Armstrong into a brain buster for the win.

Time: 22:29

MATCH 5-

DUSTY RHODES defeats STEVE STRONG

This is a match that starts out as a counter versus counter match but quickly descends into a brawl. Strong does his damage with high impact wrestling moves, a bone jarring running powerslam being one of them. Dusty just deals out a good, old country style whipping. Eventually, Strong starts taking short cuts.

Late in the match, Strong has The Dream in his swinging full nelson. Garibaldi is hit by Rhodes’s arm in the head and is down. Rhodes mule kicks Strong in the fruit salad, breaking the hold. He, then, follows up with a knee lift and a bulldog. When Garibaldi recovers, Dusty is covering Strong. He counts the three.

Time: 25:59

Match 6-

FLORIDA HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
LUMBERJACKS OUTSIDE THE RING

JACK BRISCO defeats BUDDY WOLF w/ SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK for the Florida Heavyweight Title.

This is a lumberjack match due to the interference that Jack Brisco has had to endure from The House of Humperdink.

Brisco gets an early advantage, as Wolff is thrown out several times and is more concerned with the lumberjacks than Brisco. One of those times that Wolff returns to the ring, Brisco catches him with a European forearm. It staggers Wolff and Brisco goes for the right knee.

Wolff recovers and returns the favor to Brisco, throwing him in the area where The Spoiler, Steve Strong, and Jimmy Garvin are waiting. Brisco is mugged until the faces around the ring break it up. Wolff works on the back after DeMarco runs Brisco into the apron.

Wolff locks on the Boston Crab deep into the contest. Brisco tries to get to the ropes, urged on by Brunzell and Eaton. Spoiler and Garvin slam Brunzell and Eaton into ring posts. Brisco is able to get to the ropes to break the hold.

Brisco finally locks on his figure four. Spoiler and Garvin are pulling Wolff toward the ropes. Brunzell and Eaton slam them into the ring steps. While passing back by the action, Eaton takes a swing at Wolff. It connects. Wolff is unable to make the ropes. His shoulders fall to the mat because of the pain. Brisco gets the three count and the Florida Heavyweight Title.

I like the team of Brunzell and Eaton.  That was a big win for them over a tough team in the Mauler and DeMarco.

Dusty Rhodes vs Steve Strong would've been a fun match.

That lumberjack match was awesome, and congratulations to Jack Brisco on becoming the Florida Champion.

I'm with the Baron: Brunzel and Eaton could be the team to take down the Manchurians.

Good to see Jack get the Florida title. He can get a good match out of anyone, but I'm still waiting to see Dusty Rhodes do something to get gold around his waist.

The Garvin-Armstrong feud that you have running can really be something if you get it going for quite a while. Bob and Jimmy have quite a few great matchs left between them.

Superb wrestling action! Congrats to Jack Brisco on his title victory. Enjoyed the Dusty v. Strong match.

"Rhodes mule kicks Strong in the fruit salad". That made me laugh.
