WWA INDIANAPOLIS- BOCK VS BRUISER
Aug 6th, 2007, 1:56am

WWA INDIANAPOLIS WRESTLING
     Hinkle Fieldhouse
     Indianapolis IN
     8/5/77

MATCH #1
BIG DADDY  vs  GETO MONGOL
1 Fall, 15 min. Time Limit

GETO attacks BIG DADDY at the bell.  He keeps the advantage for
several minutes until the big Brit crushes him backwards into the turnbuckle.  A big splash later, and BIG DADDY gets the three count.

WINNER:  BIG DADDY @ 12:56

MATCH #2
DEWEY ROBERTSON  vs  MOONDOG KING
1 Fall, 15 min. Time Limit

Young DEWEY gets the advantage on KING with quickness and agility.  THE MOONDOG never catches up and is pinned by ROBERTSON following an airplane spin.

WINNER:  DEWEY ROBERTSON @ 10:12

MATCH #3
KILLER KOWALSKI  vs  MITSU ARAKAWA
1 Fall, 30 min. Time Limit

Both men are seeking revenge in this match.  ARAKAWA does his pre-match ritual and the bell sounds.  The two combatants go toe-to-toe in the middle of the ring trading chops and punches.  KOWALSKI gains the advantage with a kick to ARAKAWA'S stomach.  KILLER continues working on the stomach with knee drops and kicks.  ARAKAWA finds relief by sliding out of the ring, but ringside observers see bruises forming on the asian's mid-section.  ARAKAWA takes an eight count before rolling back in the ring.  KILLER continues his attack until the 26:00 minute mark.  Ay that time, a man lumbers to the ring unseen by the grapplers.  The fans recognize him, though, as...GEORGE CANNON!!!  CANNON nears the ring apron and gets KILLER'S attention.  As KOWALSKI argues with CANNON, the referee tries to get the KILLER back to the middle of the ring.  With the referee's back turned, ARAKAWA grabs a handful of salt, turns KOWALSKI around, and connects with the salt to KILLER'S eyes without the referee seeing it.  ARAKAWA makes the cover and gets the pin.  CANNON & ARAKAWA walk to the back together as the fans pelt the with cups.

WINNER:  MITSU ARAKAWA @ 29:13

INTERMISSION

MATCH #4
MARK LEWIN  vs  CHRIS COLT
1 Fall, 45 min. Time Limit

LEWIN charges the ring as he seeks vengence for his friend, BOBO BRAZIL.  COLT doesn't know what hit him.  LEWIN chops, punches, and kicks Colt for the first 10 minutes of this contest.  Slowly, COLT interjects some offense into the match with a thumb to the throat and a chokehold.  COLT brandishes a chain and bloodies LEWIN with punches to the head.  COLT remains aggressive for the next 20 minutes as LEWIN'S face is a mask of thick plasma.  The crowd stirs and them roars as a tall figure makes his way to the ring with the help of crutches.  It's...BOBO BRAZIL!!!  BOBO slaps the mat to encourage LEWIN to fire up.  It works as LEWIN slowly makes it to his feet and begins to pummel COLT with lefts and rights.  LEWIN works on COLTS neck until he locks on the sleeperhold.  COLT struggles, but to no avail.  The referee raises COLT'S hand once...twice...DING DING DING!!! The bell sounds marking the end of the match.  LEWIN raises his hand in victory, but the referee pulls it down and it is announced that the match went to the 45 minute time limit!  COLT leaves the ring.  An exhausted LEWIN grabs the house mic and challenges COLT to make their match Wednesday in Ft. Wayne a TEXAS DEATH MATCH!!!  COLT nods his approval as the fans go wild.  LEWIN & BOBO hug as the fans go nuts!

WINNER:  NONE-  TIME LIMIT DRAW

MATCH #5
CRUSHER  vs  ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER
1 Fall, 60 min. Time Limit

CRUSHER & THE BUTCHER is a classic.  Most fans expect to see CRUSHER sink to ABDULLAH'S level and brawl with the Sudanese madman.  CRUSHER shocks everyone as he spends the majority of the match wrestling the BUTCHER!!!  ABDULLAH is clearly thrown off balance as CRUSHER twarts his illegal tactics with arm drags, headlocks, and head scissors.  The BUTCHER finally gets to use his trusty fork after 15 min.  CRUSHER busted open and finally tears into ABBY with bolo punches.  The BUTCHER reels as CRUSHER is a man on a mission.  The BUTCHER begins to bleed and weakens against the ropes.  One more bolo punch and the BUTCHER falls through the ropes and is counted out!  CRUSHER celebrates in mid-ring as the fans mocks the BUTCHER as he slinks to the back.

WINNER:  CRUSHER @24:01 by COUNT OUT

MATCH #6
GEORGE STEELE & BULLDOG BROWER w/GEORGE CANNON vs  THE GRAHAMS
1 Fall, 60 min. Time Limit

Much like last week at the Fieldhouse, this match was uncontrollable mayhem!  Both teams fought all over the building, hurting security and fans along the way.  At one point, all four men rolled down the steps from the top of the Fieldhouse in a tangled mass.  In the end, all brawlers wound up fighting in the streets until Indianapolis police separated them with billy clubs.  CANNON somehow managed to talk the police into not arresting the behemoths.  After order was restored, one fan was quoted as saying, "That's the damnedst thing I've ever seen!"

WINNERS:  NONE-  NO CONTEST

INTERMISSION

MATCH #7
AWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
NICK BOCKWINKEL  vs  DICK THE BRUISER
1 Fall, 60 min. Time Limit

This match is a lesson in frustration for the fans and BRUISER.  BRUISER gains the advantage early with hip tosses, stomps, kicks. and punches.  Unfortunately, after each move, BOCKWINKEL rolls out of the ring to catch a breather.  This continues for the next 30 minutes as NICK mocks BRUISER by doing jumping jacks and push-ups on the arena floor until the nine count.  BRUISER'S patience runs out and he begins to make desperate mistakes.  BOCKWINKEL takes advantage of this with his superior mat skills.  Whenever the BRUISER begins to make a comeback, NICK takes a powder until...From the back comes CRUSHER, LEWIN, BRAZIL, & BIG DADDY!!!  The fan favorites surround the ring and make it impossible for BOCKWINKEL to escape.  BRUISER takes over and is on his way to World gold when he slams NICK near the corner.  BRUISER climbs the ropes to deliver the big knee drop, but BOCKWINKEL rolls out of the way.  BRUISER clutches his knee, which allows NICK to slap on a figure four.  BRUISER braves the hold for nearly three minutes, but can't take the pain any more and submits.  BOCKWINKEL doesn't release the hold until BRUISER'S friends enter to rescue him.  The fans are disappointed, but they know DICK has the number of the World Champion.

WINNER:  AWA WORLD CHAMPION NICK BOCKWINKEL @ 48:05

Bruiser submits to Bock. Don't know if I've ever seen that. Good match.

Colt match with lewin going the time limit was good.

Arakawa in the Cannon stable is making that groups outlandishly brutal.

Beer drinking by Crusher in the ring. Don't know if I've ever seen that during this time frame.

Liked the show. Interesesting to have known when the card started. Would have gotten home really late for the kids.

Good layout and your color useage was great! Very easy to read!

Some very good matches here with tons of excitement.......

but, I have to agree with macwfan on this one as I believe you are way out on the fringe here for 1977.

Beer drinking in the ring, fighting in the streets to be broken up by police with billy clubs, these things sound to much like today's product to me.

The first four matches were very good and right on the money.

Thanks guys.  You were right on the beer thing.  I've modified it.  Please bare with me on the fighting in the streets.  There is a method to my madness.  I appreciate any comments or criticisms.  It helps me to present a better product.  Thanks, again.  Mike.
