R and S Booking, Sacramento, CA 8/11/77
Aug 8th, 2007, 8:25am

Memorial Auditorium
Sacramento, CA
8/11/77

Opening Match, one fall, 20 minutes
Sam Steamboat vs. Superfly Tui

The returning Steamboat and the young Superfly go back and forth. Tui looks good, but he misses a Superfly leap. This allows Steamboat to climb to the top rope and hit the same move for the win.
Winner-Sam Steamboat (16:21)

Second Match, one fall, 20 minutes
Colosso Colosetti w/Saul Weingeroff vs. Jerry Monti

The veteran Monti gives a good account of himself, but Colosetti is too much. He applies the Argentinean backbreaker for the win.
Winner-Colosso Colosetti (13:45)

Third Match, one fall, 45 minutes
Earl Maynard vs. Ripper Collins w/Saul Weingeroff

Maynard has being doing quite well in the singles ranks. Collins is riding a winning streak, so something must give. Maynard controls the early action. His strength is too much for the flamboyant Collins. Ripper takes to the floor and confers with Weingeroff. Collins returns and the match continues. Both men have their chances until Collins hits the elbow drop for the win.
Winner-Ripper Collins (17:32)

Fourth Match, one fall, 45 minutes
Pepper Gomez vs. Texas Red

This has turned into a good rivalry. Red has gotten the better of Gomez, but Pepper is still dangerous. The early moments are back and forth. Both men gain brief advantages, but neither man is able to capitalize. Red begins to rough up Pepper, but Gomez matches him blow for blow. Gomez whips Red into the ropes and slaps on the sleeper. Red gets to the ropes and the hold is broken. Red rakes the eyes and goes to work. He sets Pepper for a piledriver, but Gomez catches Red in an inside cradle. He gets the fall! Texas Red is stunned!
Winner-Pepper Gomez (19:48)

Fifth Match, one fall, 60 minutes
The Von Steiger Brothers vs. Dominic DeNucci and Ray Stevens

These two teams have gone at it hammer and tong. The veteran Stevens has returned to California with a bang. Karl Von Steiger and DeNucci open the match. They match holds until Von Steiger works Dominic into the German corner. Kurt tags in his brother, but stays in the ring to double team DeNucci. Stevens tries to help, but the referee cuts him off. This allows the Von Steigers to punish DeNucci even more. Finally DeNucci escapes and tags in the “Blond Bomber”. Stevens goes to work and clears the ring. The Von Steigers regroup on the floor. They return and Stevens still has the momentum. Things look bad for the Germans. They are able to rally and trap Stevens in the corner. Ray escapes and tags in DeNucci. Dom is on fire and again the Von Steigers are in trouble. All four men end up in the ring and we have a pier six brawl. The referee heads Stevens to the corner, which allows the Von Steigers to double bodyslam DeNucci. Kurt covers him and the official counts the fall.
Winners-The Von Steiger Brothers (22:05)

Semi-Final, one fall, 60 minutes
NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Championship
Jerry Brisco (Champion) vs. Kevin Sullivan

Brisco beat Sullivan at the Cow Palace, but Kevin was hampered by a knee injury. He says that he is healthy tonight, time will tell. The California crowd has turned against Brisco since he refused to come to Sullivan’s aid, so they boo the Champion as he comes to the ring. The early minutes of the match is a wrestling clinic. The youngster from Boston matches Brisco move for move. Sullivan catches Brisco with a sunset flip and gets a two count. That was close. The match goes back and forth, both men gain nearfalls. Kevin Sullivan is so close to becoming the World Champion. Sullivan whips Brisco into the ropes and slaps on the sleeper. This will be it! They are in the middle of the ring. Brisco fights. He inches closer to the ropes. Sullivan has the hold locked in. Brisco gets to the corner. He pushes off the turnbuckles with this boots. Sullivan falls with Brisco on top of him. The referee checks and Sullivan’s shoulders are down. The official counts the pinfall. Jerry Brisco has retained the title. Brisco is groggy and Sullivan is stunned.
Winner-Jerry Brisco (23:12)

Main Event, one fall, 60 minutes
Pacific Coast Tag Team Championship
The Royal Kangaroos (Champions) w/J.C. Dykes vs. Tony Garea and Dean Ho

This is the match the fans have been waiting for. These two tag teams are as good as any team that has ever wrestled in California. The bell rings and it’s Charles vs. Garea. Tony is on fire and Charles quickly gets frustrated. He goes to the fisticuffs, but Garea matches him with rights and lefts. Charles takes to the floor to confer with Boyd. Charles returns to the ring and tags in Boyd. Boyd fares a little better and Garea tags in Ho. Ho takes control and it appears that the Challengers may have the Champions number tonight. Ho traps Boyd in the full Nelson. This could be it! Charles runs in and breaks up the hold and Garea enters to make it two on two. The action is wild. While the official is trying to clear the ring, Ho rolls up Boyd. He has him for at least a five count, but the official does not see it. He turns to count, but Boyd kicks out. The match continues until all four men are in the ring again. This time the official cannot regain control and is forced to disqualify both teams.
Result-Double Count Out (21:43)

Great job, Tom.

Gomez getting the win over Texas Red surprised me. Does keep the rivalry going.

The Von Stiegers get a big win over the tough team of Stevens and DeNucci. This should get them a title shot.

Great showing by Sullivan. Glad to see the results were clean.

Boy, the main was everything I thought it would be. I hope the re-match will be soon.

Fantastic card.

What I like about San Francisco is that while it may not be real flashy, it's been consistently good, week in and week out.  Things progress nicely, and every show is entertaining.

Maynard vs Collins would've been a fun match.  I was rooting for Maynard, but I always kinda knew that Collins would probably end up the winner!

DeNucci and Stevens make a really good team.  I wouldn't have thought it, but they've managed to gel together nicely.

Brisco vs Sullivan was really good.  I think this Sullivan kid could really go places in wrestling, he seems to have his head on straight, and plenty of talent.

Look big daddy, it's regular daddy.

El Mariachi: You want me to shoot the cook?
Agent Sands: No. I'll shoot the cook. My car's parked out back anyway.

I don't know. I predict Sullivan will relocate to Florida and his head will spin around and around and around... Smiley

Thanks for the feedback guys.
