Broadcast Date: Saturday July 28, 1977

All matches sanctioned by the American Wrestling Association.

- In a match not filmed for television, The Masked Mr. Pro defeated Fred Peloquin with an abdominal stretch rolled back into a pin.

TV INTRO

Jack Curran and Jack Britton welcome the fans to another great program of International Wrestling. They go right into talking about what happened on last weeks TV with The Major, Duke George, turning on long time charge & Television champion “Mad Dog” Pierre Lafebvre! Curran mentions the debut of Eric the Red as part of the Major’s Army last week as well, and the Hangman & Eric the Red pummeling Lefebvre at the end of last week’s show, leaving the Mad Dog a bloody mess! The Major promised answers this week and Curran is waiting for them!

Almost on cue the Major makes his way out with his entire army, including Quebec Heavyweight Champion Paul LeDuc, the enforcer of the group The Hangman, and his newest find, Eric the Red.

George says he wants to talk about a number of things and first makes mention of Paul LeDuc having to defend his Heavyweight title against former champion, Raymond Rougeau on August 6th at the Montreal Forum. The Major says that LeDuc has a warm-up match here on today’s program to get him prepared for Raymond. The Major promises the opponent for LeDuc today, will be a “tough one”.

Now onto other pressing matters….Mad Dog Lefebvre….Jack Curran can not understand why the Major would fire the Television champion. Duke takes us back in time noting several instances Lefebvre cost his army Tag team matches against the Rougeau’s. The Major notes the Hangman was the one pinned, but it was the Mad Dog’s fault. Duke then brings up Lefebvre hesitantly listening to the Major’s orders during matches.

The Major says that you do not question the leader’s orders, that could be seen as treason. The final straw was when Lefebvre began to fight with troops within the army. That is simply not acceptable. Duke said he had a long talk with the Hangman and straightened things out, but Lefebvre’s thick head wouldn’t listen, so he paid the price here last week. The Major says Lefebvre will never put his hands on Duke George again!

Lefebvre may be the Television champion, but not for long. Eric the Red & The Hangman are banging on the TV Title door! Also The Major still has the Heavyweight Champion Paul LeDuc in the army, and that’s what’s most important!

Speaking of important, later on today’s show, Major Duke will also be out here managing AWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion, Roddy Piper. Duke takes care of all of Piper’s managerial needs when he’s in town, and Piper’s gonna be here this week and next in preparation for his title defense on the 6th against Jacques Rougeau Jr.!

Curran still seems lost but at least some things were answered, even if they were one sided.

An announcement was made that Mad Dog Lefebvre will be out of action until next week so there will be no TV Title defense on this weeks edition of International Wrestling.

Bout 1: International Tag Team Champions Kurt & Karl Von Brauner defeated the masked team of UFO #1 & #2 when Karl pinned #2 after a double clothesline in 4:00.

After the match, the Von Brauner’s announce they have accepted the challenge of former champions the Mercenaries for August 6th. Karl says he doesn’t care what type of match the Mercenaries pick, because the former champions are soft and will lose regardless.

As we fade back “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe & “Dynamite” Jack Evans are with Curran. Larry continues to gloat about putting Serge Dumont out of wrestling for good. Jack Evans speaks about his win last week and says he anticipates the “competition” he’s heard so much about.

Bout 2: “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe (w/Jack Evans) defeated Billy Two Rivers in 4:00 after a piledriver and distraction interference from Evans. After the match Sharpe & Evans go to put the boots to Two Rivers, but Chief War Cloud is out in a hurry to make the save and run off the blonde duo.

It’s interview time ladies and gents. Out first are the Mercenaries, Frenchie Martin & Mad Dog Martel. Frenchie talks about the Von Brauner’s accepting the rematch, and says the Mercenaries are prepared for the challenge. Martin feels they may have overlooked the German’s a bit last time but it won’t happen again. Mad Dog Martel then announced the type of match they former champions have chosen for the return bout. It will be the Mercenaries vs. International Tag team Champions the Von Brauner's in the First Ever…”Double Chain Main”. Both Martel & Martin will individually have a 8-foot steel chain tied to their wrist, and at the other end of the chain will be either Kurt or Karl Von Brauner. A Challenger will each be chained to one of the champions. There will be no disqualifications, and the only way to win is by pin fall or submission. Curran asks why the chains, Frenchie replies because they can keep an eye on the sneaky Von Brauner’s and so they know where the champions are, at all times. There will be no escape for the German’s, no tricks, and if they’re going to hit them with something, it will be face to face, and not behind the challengers backs. The Mercenaries seem very upset as they storm off the set. But what a major announcement that was for the 6th at the Forum!

Out next is AWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Roddy Piper, along with his manager while in the area, Major Duke George. Piper does most of the talking with George there to hold his bagpipes and nod and smile at Roddy’s comments. Piper mentions he will be in town this week and next to prepare for Jacques Rougeau Jr. on August the 6th.

Piper mocks the Rougeau family, he claims they’re on top because their uncle helps “run the show here”. Jacques Rougeau Senior is out and doesn’t like what Piper is saying about his sons. Roddy calls Senior GRANDPA repeatedly and tells Jacques Sr. not to worry, he knows that Sr. is getting pretty old and may be hard of hearing, perhaps a little senile, so when Roddy is done with his baby boy at the Forum, Piper will gladly feed, burp and diaper “JUNIOR” for the “old man”. Piper than spits at the shoes of Jacques Senior and walks off with the Major.

Curran asks Jacques Rougeau Sr. what he makes of the World Champion. Rougeau says Piper won’t be the champion much longer and for Curran to ask him that same question again in 2 weeks when his son is the new AWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion!

Up next fans we will see the current AWA World Jr. Champion in action!

Bout 3: AWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Roddy Piper (w/Major Duke George) defeated Greg Peterson with a vertical suplex and an elbow drop in this non-title bout in 3:45. The Major loved holding the World Title belt and made it nice & shiny for the champion.

Piper gets back on the stick after the match, snatching it from Curran. Piper gives an “I told you so” kind of promo, pointing out that Peterson wasn’t worth the time of day, and neither is “Baby Rougeau”.

Back from break and Quebec Heavyweight Champion Paul LeDuc is in the ring for his warm-up match along with his manager The Major. Duke George then drops from the ring and announces to Curran Paul LeDuc’s opponent…..Daniel Martel.

Bout 4: Quebec Heavyweight Champion Paul LeDuc (w/The Major) vs. Daniel Martel in a Warm-Up Match.
Daniel has recently returned to the area and has had some pretty successful wins over the likes of Mr. Hito & Fred Peloquin to name a couple. But Daniel stands no match for the champion in this non-title bout as LeDuc smashes young Martel with his patented and sometimes career ending finisher, the Bearhug Avalanche for the pin in only 1:45.

The Major gets on the microphone, upset at the lack of competition and demands another challenger come out. Out comes Len Shelley! The Major laughs and accepts the challenge of Shelley to face LeDuc in this impromptu encounter…

Bout 5: Quebec Heavyweight Champion Paul LeDuc (w/The Major) vs. Len Shelley
The Major goes over to the corner and to talk with LeDuc for a moment when out of nowhere, RAYMOND ROUGEAU hits the ring and politely asks Shelley to step out! Len obliges and leaves the ring. Raymond Rougeau has replaced Shelley and the Major & LeDuc don’t know it yet!!

The Major & LeDuc turn around and Raymond Rougeau jumps on the champion as the bell sounds! It’s Rougeau vs. LeDuc on TV! The Major gets popped in the mouth for good measure and rolls out of the ring! Rougeau gets in a pair of dropkicks and SLAMS the champion. Raymond gets in a backdrop and another dropkick! The TV studio crowd is going bonkers!

The Major is quickly back up and distracts Raymond allowing LeDuc to clobber Rougeau from behind. Paul LeDuc quickly applies his BEARHUG! Rougeau fights to keep from allowing LeDuc to deliver the Avalanche in the corner. Raymond fires back with right hands, and a knee to the gut of LeDuc breaks the bearhug!  Raymond tries an Irish whip into the corner but Paul reverses. LeDuc charges in for his big avalanche in the corner, but Raymond dodges it! LeDuc runs into the turnbuckles and Raymond gets a school boy 1……..2…………3! RAYMOND ROUGEAU HAS DONE IT! RAYMOND PINNED PAUL LEDUC!

Roddy Piper, The Hangman & Eric the Red storm the ring but Raymond is already out, with his hands raised in this non-title match. Raymond Rougeau has defeated the Quebec Heavyweight Champion, but can he do it again at the Forum when the title is on the line?

The crowd has the studio shaking from the excitement!

We gotta go to break, we will be right back!

Curran & Britton are back and can not believe what we just witnessed! What an exciting week here on International Wrestling! Raymond Rougeau has pinned the Quebec Heavyweight Champion, but will he be able to do it again at the Forum when LeDuc has time to prepare for the match.

Major Duke is out declaring the previous bout to be a travesty of justice. It was to be a warm-up match FOR the match with Raymond Rougeau, NOT a match WITH Raymond Rougeau. George storms off demanding to see the match makers.

Fans we are running short on time, but next week on TV we will see…

The return of Mad Dog Lefebvre, I’m sure he will have a LOT to say about Major Duke George and his army.

Roddy Piper will again be here in the studio to join us.

“Dynamite” Jack Evans will be here in action.

The Mercenaries will be here to prepare for their Chain match on the 6th as well.

And our feature match has already been signed! Champion, Paul LeDuc, returns and has requested a match with Jacques Rougeau Jr., next week on TV!

All of that plus much more next week on AWA International Wrestling!

Great win by Rougeau over LeDuc. The championship is in danger of changing hands.

Great match coming up between The Mernenaries and The Von Brauners. A chain match? Brutal.

Sharpe and Evans need to be taken down a peg or two.

Can't wait to see Mad Dog's response ot the Major.

Great AWA TV.

Yeah, truth be told 5 weeks ago when the turn started I originally wanted to do it with the Hangman, but it was Sniper Niles who suggest Lefebvre. He gave me the idea and I basically ran with the ball by making the storyline. So it's Serge who planted the seed, I simply fed & watered it until it blossomed. Without the seed, there would have been plant to grow.

So thanks again Serge!
