CWA @ MSC 8/6/77 WE HAVE NEW CHAMPIONS!!!
Aug 10th, 2007, 1:18pm

AWA-CWA Wrestling
Live from the Mid-South Coliseum, Memphis, TN
Bell time 8/6/77 is 7:30 pm and the matches are recorded for possible future broadcast.

1)      “Mr. Ebony” Tom Jones defeats Ken Dillenger with a swinging full nelson. Jones looks good, but something still seems to be lacking after the beating he and his partner took just a week ago at the MSC.

2)      The Fabulous Jackie Fargo and Tommy Gilbert return to the winning path by defeating the Medics. Fargo finishes off Medic #1 with an atomic knee drop for the pin.

3)      Dutch Mantel defeats Don Ross by disqualification after the Spider comes to ringside and beats down Mantel. To add insult to injury, the Miser grabs Dutch’s bullwhip off the ring post and whipped him after the spider had laid him out with a big double axe handle. The Miser and his man retreat to the dressing room with the whip under a hail of verbal abuse and half eaten hot dogs.

4)      Kelly Kiniski defeats Black Angus Campbell with an inside cradle in a bloody, brutal brawling match. This contest seemed more like a fistfight than a scientific wrestling match from the get go and there was little that kept these two men under control. In the end, Angus made the mistake of jawing at the crowd too long before trying to cover Kiniski after a powerful gut wrench suplex and the kid from Canada is able to get the 1-2-3.

Intermission: During the intermission, the AWA World tag Team Champions come to the ring and it is announced to the fans that due to injuries sustained Saturday on television, that Dick the Bruiser has not been cleared to defend his title tonight. The fans boo loudly until the Bruiser grabs the ring mic and tells everyone that he and the Crusher ain’t afraid to fight and even if the belts aren’t on the line, they want those Limey scumbags in the ring tonight in a lights out Memphis street fight.

5)      In a body slam match, Sugar Bear Harris survives against former San Francisco 49er George Welles with quite a bit of help from Tojo Yamamoto. Wells, while looking very unpolished in the ring appeared to have the strength to match Harris, but as he was about to try and scoop up the Sugar Bear, Yamamoto got on the ring apron and distracted Welles long enough for Harris to come in and splash George and slam him in the center of the ring to get the pin.

6)      Jerry “the King” Lawler defeats “Professor” Bill Ash after Ash knocked down the official with an arrant clothesline and the King connected with a big pile driver. When the official came to, Lawler dropped the fist from the second rope for good measure and finished off Ash.

7)      In a huge tag team contest, Phil Hickerson and Dennis Condrey defeated Tommy Rich and Ricky Fields to become the NEW AWA Southern Tag Team Champions. Phil and Dennis focused in on Ricky Fields who they had beaten up Saturday, isolating him in their corner. Tommy Rich is able to get in and make a big comeback for his team, but when Fields tags back in, he misses on a dropkick and Condrey drills him with an underhook pile driver to get the 1-2-3. The new champs celebrate their way to the back as Tommy looks back with his trying to recover.

8)      Ron Garvin defeats Outlaw Ron Bass by disqualification in a match for the Southern Heavyweight title after Bass is caught using a pair of brass knuckles to knock out his challenger. Bass had drilled Garvin with the knucks and hit his gord buster for good measure, but when referee Tommy Morton raised the hand of the champion, the knuckles flew from his grasp into plain sight and Morton reversed his decision, much to the complaints by Bass and his manager.

9)      In the lights out main event, the AWA World Tag Team Champions Dick the Bruiser and the Crusher fall to Marc Rocco and Jim Breaks of the BBC. Breaks and Rocco focus in on the Bruiser as much as possible in the controlled chaos environment of the street fight, pounding away on the ribs of the Bruiser, cutting off is already cigar addled wind. The Crusher performed valiantly, but when Rocco was slipped a Cricket bat by Lord Raven and cracked it over the head of the man from Milwaukee, it was all into the hands of the BBC duo. A shot with the bat on the ribs of the Bruiser all but ended the contest, allowing Breaks to lock on his inverted hammer lock and grind a knee into the ribs of the Bruiser to get the second submission victory for the Brits over the champions in 4 days.

The Brits seem to have B&C's number. Incredible!

Lawler is the man. Bass better watch out.

I knew it was only a matter of time for Condrey and Hickerson. Congrats.

Garvin continues to get screwed.

Great push for Kiniski. This win over Campbell is big.

Midwest, you have every made promotion you've been associated with a must read. Memphis is no exception. Great job.
