The show opens with film documenting the refereeing efforts of Nelson Royal in a six man involving The Assassin and Dusty Rhodes. The count out of Antonio Inoki to end the match is controversial. The scene shifts to the face dressing room where Dusty Rhodes is packing up his gear. Royal has been talking to several ringside officials who confirm that Royal may have missed the call. Royal asks Rhodes if he can have a chance to redeem himself. Rhodes asks what Royal has in mind. Royal says he would like to team with Rhodes against Assassin and a partner of Assassin’s choice on TV. Rhodes thinks for a minute and extends his hand to Royal. The scene fades into the interview desk where Gordon is sitting. He confirms that the promoters have allowed The Assassin to team with The Missouri Mauler on today’s program. The TV Title will be defended here next week. Gordon points out that the fishbowl is still on the desk. Today, it will not decide the challenger for the TV Title but the NWA World Heavyweight Title. Terry Funk will be at the Back-to-School Spectacular in Orlando on August 17th. His opponent will be the wrestler whose name is drawn here today. The best in the CWF will be here today and the action begins right after these messages. . . COMMERCIALS . . Film clips show a match from Lakeland where Bob Armstrong is attacked by Jimmy Garvin before a tag match. Armstrong returns the favor in St. Pete, using a belt buckle to get a win over Garvin. Gordon observes Jimmy Garvin has used the belt and the belt buckle on Armstrong many times and now he wants to call Reed and Malloy on Adam 12 because Armstrong is fighting fire with fire. Gordon says he will get the police report from Garvin after his match. GORGEOUS JIMMY GARVIN w/ THE GREAT BOLO vs. CIEN CARAS Garvin is showing off during the early portion of this match. Caras gets several close two counts. Bolo calls Garvin to the floor. He reads him the riot act. Garvin is more focused on wrestling this time. He works on Caras’ neck, eventually hitting a brainbuster for the win. GARVIN w/ BOLO (W) @ 4:06 As Garvin and Bolo are getting their hands raised, Armstrong comes out from the dressing room, swinging a belt. Bolo and Garvin beat a hasty retreat. Armstrong meets Solie at the interview desk. He says that he has been to Phil Fairchild’s Custom Clothiers in Tampa for this belt and he has hired them to craft a very special strap for this Friday’s match in Orlando. Garvin better stop at the 7-11 for lots of Solarcane because Armstrong is going to burn his butt. Gordon says the challenger for Terry Funk will be selected when CWF returns. . . COMMERCIALS . . Jack Brisco, Dusty Rhodes, Austin Idol, The Assassin, The Spoiler, and Buddy Wolff are behind the interview desk as the show returns. Gordon selects a name from the fishbowl and it is….The Spoiler. Gordon says that Missouri Mauler will also benefit from this selection as he will team with Steve Strong against Ventura and Patera in the World Tag Match, taking Spoiler’s place. The other wrestlers leave frustrated. Gordon says that Austin Idol has recovered from his attack by Humperdink and Colt last week. He is fit to be tied. AUSTIN IDOL vs. DENNIS HALL In a scientific contest, Idol and Hall share advantages, both working on the right leg. Idol falls to the floor. Hall holds the ring ropes open, but takes a cheap shot by kneeing Idol in the head. Idol goes wild, quickly locking on the Las Vegas Leglock for the win. AUSTIN IDOL (W) @ 4:29 Idol tells Gordon that Hall’s knee to the head reminded him of the chair shots from Colt and Humperdink. He would have loved to have gotten the World Title shot, but he will enjoy making some Manager Salad from Manager #@!*. The TV Audience hears a beep. The Sportatorium crowd erupts in laughter. Gordon says that Jim Brunzell and Bobby Eaton reveal their partner for Orlando’s six man match right after CWF pays some bills. . . COMMERCIALS . . A VTR shows Bob Caudle in front of the MID-ATLANTIC TV set. He announces that it is his pleasure to announce the third member of the Brunzell-Eaton six match team. Out comes…. WAHOO MCDANIEL. Wahoo tells the audience that he knows Brunzell is tough because anybody who is trained by Verne Gagne can handle himself. He will take care of Wolff and feed what is left to Brunzell and Eaton. Gordon says Wahoo McDaniel will tip the scales in favor of the young lions Eaton and Brunzell. He will talk with the popular duo after their match. BOBBY EATON/ JIM BRUNZELL vs. BUCK FORREST/ CHIN LEE Eaton and Brunzell dominate this match with Eaton landing an Alabama Jam on Forrest for the pin. EATON/ BRUNZELL (W) @ 4:23 Brunzell and Eaton tell Gordon they got a call from Wahoo last Saturday. Brunzell says they flew up to Charlotte and worked out with the Chief. Eaton states Stevenson and Ringer talk about how extreme Arizona wrestling was. Our partner invented extreme. Gordon encourages the fans to stay tuned for the challengers for Ventura and Patera on the 17th, Missouri Mauler and Steve Strong, will be in action. . . COMMERCIALS . . A montage of action featuring Jesse Ventura and Ken Patera, the NWA World Tag Team Champions, is shown. Gordon states that it is not widely known but Missouri Mauler has been working with Steve Strong on tag strategies. This match with Patera and Ventura may be their diamond in the rough. MISSOURI MAULER/ STEVE STRONG vs. JACK ARMSTRONG/ EL GUACHO The veteran Mauler starts out against El Gaucho. Mauler hits Gaucho with a spear. He works on the back. Mauler hits a power slam and tags in Strong. Strong locks on his swinging neck breaker for the submission. Armstrong does not get in the match. MAULER/ STRONG (W) @ 3:56 Buddy Colt and Sir Oliver Humperdink come to the interview desk. They have a female manikin, dressed up like Austin. They take turns hitting the manikin. They act like pledge masters, saying “Thank you, sir. Can I have another?” Gordon lets this go on for a while but he demands they leave the set. Nelson Royal tries to set things right by Dusty Rhodes in our CWF main event, next. . . COMMERCIALS . . A VTR from Steve Keirn and Mike Graham airs. They say that they want to settle things once and for all with The Manchurians. Keirn says that they want Tio and Tapu in a steel cage. Graham says the promoters have okayed it and they can’t wait. Gordon states that the Florida Tag Team Titles will be on the line in that match on the 17th. NELSON ROYAL/ DUSTY RHODES vs. THE ASSASSIN/ THE SPOILER Royal convinces Rhodes to let him start the match. Royal uses his quickness and some high risk moves to put The Assassin on the mat. Rhodes and Royal tag in and out, like an experienced team. Dusty gets tripped by Bolo and the masked duo goes to work on Stardust. Rhodes makes a couple of tags in this match but Godoy does see them and Royal is put back in the corner. Eventually, Rhodes makes a blind tag to Royal, but falls through the ropes. Spoiler runs Rhodes into two ring posts. With Dusty out, the two heels double team Royal. They don’t stop when warned by Godoy. Pedro calls for the bell. Assassin and Spoiler lift Royal into and hit a spike pile driver. Rhodes comes in with a chair, too late. RHODES/ ROYAL (W) by DQ SOLIE: So long from the Sunshine State.
