SUMMER WRESTLING SERIES

Dallas, TX
August 5, 1977

Match #1
Karl Von Hess defeated Manuel Soto via pinfall when Von Hess landed a inverted suplex and covered for the pin. (5:09)

Match #2
David Von Erich defeated Chicky Starr via submission when Chicy could no longer handle the iron claw. (8:49). After the match, as DVE was getting his hand raised, Chicky attacked DVE from behind, continuing his assault until being chased away by security.

Match #3
Killer Tim Brooks defeated  Benny Mendibles in a tough contest when Brooks was able to use a foreign object out of view of the referee, leaving Mendibles stunned and prey to an elbow drop and pin. (14:32)

Match #4
Texas Tag-Team Champions Mr. Fuji & Masa Saito w/ Skandar Akbar defeated Pistol Pez Whatley and Cocoa Samoa via pinfall when Fuji landed a kamikaze clothesline on Samoa and covered for the pin. (13:28)

Match #5
American Heavyweight Champion Fritz Von Erich defeated Pak Song w/ Gary Hart via submission when Fritz caught Song in the iron claw. (18:52).

---Intermission ---

Main Event
Bruiser Brody defeated Texas Heavyweight Champion Ernie Ladd via disqualification for outside interference when Gary Hart struck Brody. (29:14) In a wild match that was outside the ring as much as inside, neither man could gain a sustained advantage. Brody finally got the better of Ladd, and was primed for a flying legdrop, when Hart attacked Brody from behind. The referee reluctantly called for the bell. Hart and Ladd attempted a two-on-one of Brody until The Brute rang to ringside to make the save.

I don't know much about Benny Mendibles, but it would've been fun watching Brooks destroy him!

That main event would've been a wild one!  That match alone would've been well worth the price of admission.  I like that Brody's a babyface here, I believe that's how it was IRL, he was a heel most other places, but a babyface in Texas.

Agent Sands: No. I'll shoot the cook. My car's parked out back anyway.

Brody vs. Ladd would have had the fans on their feet for the whole match.

Von R Erich vs. Chicky Star had an ending that I hope means the prgram is just starting.

The same with Mendibles/ Brooks. I hope to see that continue.

Great show.
