"Mid-Pacific Wrestling", 8/18/77
Aug 13th, 2007, 6:28pm

“Mid-Pacific Wrestling”
KITV Studios
Honolulu, HI
Announcers-Lord James Blears and Ed Francis
Airs-8/18/77

Lord James Blears and Ed Francis open the show.

Blears, “Tally-ho and aloha everyone! What a show we have for you today! We have a great feature match that we will talk about in a minute, but Ed Francis has a few things to say, ‘Gentleman’ Ed Francis.”

Francis, “Thank you Lord Blears. I want to take a minute to talk about the big show at Blasidell coming up on August 26. The Hawaii Tag Team Titles will be on the line when the Champions, the Wild Samoans, defend against the German team of the Von Steiger Brothers. Sammy Steamboat takes on the Destroyer. In a match just added, my son, Bill Francis, meets Samson Kawamatsu, and in the Main Event, Ripper Collins puts the title on the line against Don Leo Jonathan. Thant leads us to today’s feature match. I’ll turn in back to Lord Blears for that one.”

Blears, “Thank you Ed. Today’s feature match will be a preview of August 26, Sam Steamboat will team with Don Leo Jonathan to take on the Destroyer and Ripper Collins. That’s right, on TV today!”

Match #1
Bill Francis def. Ati Tago (5:39) w/sleeper

Blears is with the Von Steiger Brothers.

Blears, “On August 26, you meet the Samoans. They seem to have your number.”

Kurt V.S., “That’s what you think you stupid Hawaiian. The German people are superior and we are far superior to these savages! Each time we have met them, a corrupt official has cost us the match. We have tried to wrestle them, but the official will not let us. That is fine, we will now do what those two coconut pickers do, we will fight! We will do what German have done for centuries, we will destroy our enemies! The gloves come off and the Samoans will suffer the consequences!”

Karl V.S., “Samoans, heed my brother’s words. We will destroy you!”

Match #2
The Von Steiger Brothers def. Robert Toronto and Superfly Tui (6:53) Karl V.S. w/backbreaker vs. Toronto

Francis is with Steve Rickard.

Francis, “Fans, Steve Rickard, the veteran from New Zealand, has been making a name for himself in Hawaii.”

Rickard, “Thank you Ed. I love Hawaii. I settled in the Islands a few years ago. I love the weather and the fans. The opening of this promotion is the best thing that ever happened to me. I get to compete in my adopted home. I am very happy.”

Francis, “Steve, I know you have an open contact and we are working on an opponent for you at the Blaisdell show.”

Rickard, “I want to meet the best. However is on the other side of the ring will get my best.”

Match #3
Steve Rickard def. “Handsome” John Anson (6:13) w/sleeper

Blears is with Ripper Collins and the Destroyer.

Blears, “Gentlemen, the tag team match is next.”

Destroyer, “Yes it is. Steamboat and Jonathan, you would think they would be afraid of Ripper Collins and myself. I guess not. Some people would say they are fearless, I say they are stupid. Ripper Collins is the Champion and I am the ‘Super, Intelligent Destroyer’. We will beat them today and then we will take care of them on the 26th.”

Collins, “I have so many things to do. I have a meeting with Governor Ariyoshi, then Senator Inoue. I have to fly to Hollywood to negotiate my next movie role and now they want me to wrestle in this tag team match? I don’t have time. Destroyer and I will end this quickly and then I can get back to work.”

Blears, “The feature match is next.

Match #4
Don Leo Jonathan and Sam Steamboat def. Ripper Collins and the Destroyer (7:51) Jonathan w/rollup vs. Collins

Jonathan and Steamboat join Blears and Collins.

Jonathan, “Collins, I pinned you! You know I can do it! Your title reign ends at Blaisdell!”

That was a great main event!  DLJ is right, he's got Collins' number, and I think we'll see a new Champion crowned at the Blaisdell.

The Von Steigers vs Samoans is another match I'm looking forward to, two rough, rugged teams, that should be a good match.

There's a lot of good matches signed for the big Blaisdell card, Steamboat vs Destroyer is another one I'm looking forward to.

Look big daddy, it's regular daddy.

El Mariachi: You want me to shoot the cook?
Agent Sands: No. I'll shoot the cook. My car's parked out back anyway.

Hope The Destroyer gets a big win at Blaisdell.

Collins better watch for Jonathan.

The Samoans' wildness against the Von Steigers' experience make for an intriguing match up.

Great NWA-Hawaii action.
