AWA-CWA 8/15/77 Louisville: Tag title rematch
Aug 16th, 2007, 3:53pm

AWA-CWA Wrestling
Live from the Louisville Gardens, Louisville, KY
Bell time 8/15/77 is 7:00 pm

1)      “Mr. Ebony” Tom Jones and George Welles defeat Ken Dillenger and Big Bill Howard after Welles hits a big running shoulder tackle on Dillenger and Mr. Ebony locks on a swinging full nelson to secure the win.

2)      Mighty Ursa defeats Bobby Jones with a massive bear hug.

3)      Bobby Jaggers and Tito Montez defeat the Medics after Montez takes down Medic #2 with a flying head scissor take over and Bobby Jaggers finishes him off with a hangman’s neck breaker.

4)      Don Ross defeats the Spider by count out when Dutch Mantel attacks the Miser, who is carrying the bullwhip stolen from Mantel, drawing the Spider out of the ring. The Spider and the Dutchman brawled around the ring, but the referee counts to ten and awards the match to Ross.

5)      Kelly Kiniski defeats Black Angus Campbell with a schoolboy roll up after a hard fought match. Kiniski had already hit his Canadian back breaker, but Lord Raven was able to pull his man’s foot on to the bottom rope to break up the pin. Campbell later on was able to connect with a gut wrench suplex and seemed assured of victory but somehow Kelly kicked out. Angus and Lord Raven both were screaming about the fall, opening up the door for Kelly to recover and roll up the Scotsman for the 1-2-3.

6)      “Superstar” Bill Dundee defeats Butch Malone with the Bomb’s away. Dundee continues to look impressive as he looks for a shot at Roddy Piper and the AWA World Junior Heavyweight title.

7)      AWA Southern Tag Team champions Phil Hickerson and Dennis Condrey defeat Tommy Rich and Ricky Fields in a best of three falls match. The first fall went to the former champions as Fields is able to hit a big drop kick that knocked Hickerson to the mat and allowed Tommy Rich to lock on a spinning toe-hold. The second fall goes to Hickerson and Condrey after these two start using every dirty trick on the side short of being disqualified, focusing in on Fields who is by now showing some fatigue. Phil was able to lock Ricky into a single leg crab and focus all his weight onto the knee, causing him to submit and even the match a one fall apiece. Before the third fall, Condrey and Hickerson keep pounding on Fields, not giving him a breather and Dennis then delivers an underhook pile driver, looking to knock him out before there can be too much of a fight. Ricky kicks out in desperation and then makes a much-needed tag to Tommy. Rich fights like a man possessed and has both Hickerson and Condrey on the ropes. Tommy is certainly fired up as he goes up top to go for a big fist drop. Tommy flies, but Hickerson moves out of the way. A tag to Dennis and he connects on another underhook pile driver for the 1-2-3.

8)      Ronnie Garvin defeats Outlaw Ron Bass in a non-title match with a sun set flip. Garvin looks great in the match with the champion seeming to be slipping down the ladder as he can’t keep up with rugged Ronnie.

Another very good show.

Hickerson and Condrey look to hold those titles for a long, long time!

Good to see Garvin with another victory over Bass!

Welles and Jones get a big win.

Kiniski is really paying a price for his wins.

Great win by Condrey and Hickerson. The injury to Fields could be significant.

Garvin continues to win in non-title matches. He may be snake-bit, though.

I begrudgingly give props to Dundee here.

Great stuff, Dream.

The whole show was good, but the top two matches would have been great.

Rich and Fields would have made a really good tag team and could have matched up well against Hickerson and Condrey.

Garvin's looking better than ever as well, he's going to take the belt any week now.

I think that Kelly over Angus has to be a big upset, looks like there's trouble between Angus and Raven.
