AWA-CWA Wrestling Live from the Civic Auditorium, Nashville, TN Bell time 8/17/77 is 7:30 pm 1) Mr. Ebony Tom Jones defeats Big Bill Howard following a series of brutal headbutts. 2) George Welles defeats Don Ross with a big running football tackle. The former 49er continues to look good in the ring. 3) Tommy Gilbert defeats Ken Dillenger with a big vertical suplex. 4) Black Angus Campbell and the Scottish Giant literally crush the Medics with the Giant getting a double pin on both Medics after the Brits maul the masked men. 5) The Spider defeats Dutch Mantel in a taped fist match after getting a little assistance from the Miser who is still carrying the bullwhip that was stolen from the Dutchman. The bigger, more physical Spider was battered hard, but Dutch simply bled buckets. 6) Kelly Kiniski and Pat Roach wrestle to a double count-out as both men brawl around the arena. Kiniski pushed the European champion, but couldn’t score the pin fall. Roach and Lord raven tried to escape, but Canada’s next great athlete went right after them and delivered a beating on Pat before the bell tolled ending the match. 7) In a rematch from last week, “Superstar” Bill Dundee defeated “Professor” Bill Ash with a bomb’s away splash. Both men were looking to lay claim to being the top junior heavyweight in the CWA. 8) “Wildfire” Tommy Rich defeats Butch Malone with a Thesz Press that he follows up with a spinning toe-hold to get the submission victory. Rich again wrestles in a singles match because Ricky Fields is still recovering from the tag title rematch from Wednesday night in Louisville. 9) In the main event, Outlaw Ron Bass and Sugar Bear Harris defeat “Rugged” Ronnie Garvin and Jerry “the King” Lawler after Jerry accidentally hits Garvin in the back of the head with a pair of brass knuckles, that had been slid into the ring by Tojo Yamamoto earlier in the match, after Ron Bass reversed and Irish whip by Ronnie. This allowed Bass to hit a gord buster and get the pin as Sugar Bear Harris rumbled into the ring to stop the King from breaking up the count. After the match, Garvin is irate with Lawler and the two almost come to blows.
