Match #3:
Billy Red Cloud & Bobby Bold Eagle
defeated The Wildman & The Wolfman.
While The Wolfman was assaulting Bold Eagle in one corner, Red Cloud (the legal man) came off the top rope and caught The Wildman (the other legal man) with a big Tomahawk Chop.  Red Cloud covered The Wildman, as the referee got into position, the Wolfman tried to run over to make the save, but Bobby Bold Eagle tripped him up.  The referee made the 3-count, and Billy Red Cloud and Bobby Bold Eagle are declared the winners.

Semi Main Event
AWA United States Heavyweight Title Match:

The Sheik (Champion) w/ Eddie Creatchman
defeated Billy Red Lyons (Challenger).
Lyons gives the Sheik a tough challenge, and on several occasions, nearly put the Champion away.  Creatchman constantly interjects himself, finally, Lyons has had enough, and knocks Creatchman off the ring apron with a big right hand, much to the delight of these London fans.  However, this gives the Sheik an opportunity to produce a foreign object, and he proceeds to attack Lyons with it.  Moments later, Lyons is a bloody mess and, in his weakened state, falls prey to the Sheik's Camel Clutch.  The Noble One gets the submission and retains the U.S. Champion.

Main Event
6-man Tag Team Attraction:

Dino Bravo & Rufus R. Jones & The Masked Canadian
fought Greg Valentine & The Assassins w/ George Cannon to a DRAW at 45:00.

FALL #1: Rufus R. Jones pinned Assassin #1 after a running shoulderblock
FALL #2: Valentine forced Bravo to submit to the Figure Four Leglock
FALL #3: Time ran out before either team could get the decision.

Norm Kimber announces that Maple Leaf Wrestling will return to the London Gardens next Tuesday night, August the 28th.  U.S. Champion The Sheik defends the title against former World's Champion Edouard Carpentier, Rufus R. Jones will be in action.  The evil Japanese duo of Kenji Shibuya and Mitsu Arakawa make their London debut, and there will be 16-man Battle Royal, with a $5,000 check going to the winner!

Belltime 7:00pm

Match #1:
Edouard Carpentier
defeated "Beautiful" Bobby Harmon.
The end came when Carpentier caught Harmon with a standing dropkick.  As Harmon staggered back to his feet, Carpentier came off the ropes with a cross body block, catching Harmon by surprise.  3 seconds later, Carpentier was declared the winner.

Match #2:
Whipper Watson, Jr.
defeated The Wildman.
This match goes back and forth, but in the end, Watson takes the Wildman down with a flying shoulder tackle.  As the Wildman staggers back to his feet, Watson scoops him up into an Airplane Spin, then covers the Wildman for the 3-count.

Match #3:
The Assassins w/ George Cannon
defeated Dino Bravo & Sailor Art Thomas.
Bravo and Thomas dominated most of the match, but late in the contest, the Assassins trapped Thomas in their corner, and double-teamed him constantly, wearing him down.  In the end, all four men brawl in the ring, and while that's happening, one of the Assassins loads up his boot and plants a brutal kick right to the side of Thomas' head.  The same Assassin then covers him and picks up the 3-count while Bravo and the other masked man brawl on the other side of the ring.

Match #4:
BlackJack Mulligan w/ Percy Pringle
defeated Billy Red Lyons.
Lyons put up a valiant effort, but the big man from Eagle Pass, Texas was just too much for him.  Late in the match, Lyons turns things around, although briefly, and catches Mulligan with a sunset flip for a VERY close nearfall.  That's the last of Lyons' offence, though, as Mulligan takes control and eventually catches Lyons in the Claw for the win.

Semi Main Event
AWA United States Heavyweight Title Match:

The Sheik (Champion) w/ Eddie Creatchman
defeated Rufus R. Jones (Challenger).
It looks like The Sheik may have met his match in Rufus R. Jones.  The Carolina Freight Train tears right into the Sheik, and dominates the majority of the match.  The tide turns, though, when Eddie Creatchman gets involved.  Creatchman distracts Rufus and the referee long enough for The Sheik to recover, and pull out a foreign object!  The Sheik proceeds to carve Rufus' forehead up, always keeping the object out of view of the referee.  A shot to the throat with the foreign object drops Jones to the mat.  As Rufus rolls around in agony, clutching his throat, The Sheik drops a knee on him and covers Jones, picking up the 3-count in another successful title defence!

After the match, Creatchman grabs the house mic from Norm Kimber and says that The Sheik has been the most dominant wrestler to ever come through Toronto, and there's no one in this, or any other territory, that can stop him!

Main Event
AWA Canadian Heavyweight Title Match:

The Crusader (Champion)
defeated Greg Valentine (Challenger).
The two men go at each other the entire match, neither man backs down at all.  The Crusader wrestles a clean, scientific match, while Valentine takes every shortcut in the book to try and take the Canadian Title from the masked man.  In the end, Valentine misses an elbowdrop, giving the Crusader a chance to recover.  As Valentine gets back to his feet, the Crusader comes off the top rope with a flying bodypress.  The Crusader picks up the pinfall victory, then bails out of the ring, along with the referee, when Valentine goes into a rage after the decision is announced, and tries to attack the Crusader.

Norm Kimber announces that Maple Leaf Wrestling will be back in Toronto next Thursday night, although this time, at Maple Leaf Gardens.  Some matches signed for that big event will be The Crusader challenging Nick Bockwinkel for the World Heavyweight Title, with no time limit.  Rufus R. Jones will face Greg Valentine in a Lumberjack match and Johnny Powers returns to Toronto, teaming up with Carlos Rocha, to challenge The Love Brothers for the International Tag Team Titles.

Mountain Arena in Hamilton, ON

Sanctioned by the American Wrestling Association

Friday night, August 24th, 1977
Belltime 7:00pm
Attendance: 2,600 (Sell-out)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Match #1:
Mike "Porky Pig" Loren
defeated Whipper Watson, Jr..
Watson put up a good fight in this match, but Loren's roughouse tactics are just too much for him to overcome.  Loren would constantly kick his opponent, stomping Whipper once he's down on the mat.  Loren would even get down on all fours and headbutt Watson repeatedly.  In the end, Loren came off the ropes and hit Watson with a big Splash, leading to the pinfall.

Match #2:
Johnny Powers
defeated "Beautiful" Bobby Harmon.
Harmon got some offence in, but for the most part, this match was all Powers.  Late in the match, Harmon gets desperate, and rakes the eyes of Powers, stopping Johnny dead in his tracks, but it's short-lived, Powers quickly regains control of the match and locks Harmon in the PowerLock, gaining the victory by submission.

Match #3:
Dino Bravo & The Masked Canadian
defeated The Assassins w/ George Cannon by DQ.
In a rematch from last week's TV show, Bravo and the Canadian are looking for some payback, not only for the Assassins stealing a victory from them two weeks ago on TV, but also what they did this past week to Bravo's friend Rufus R. Jones.  The Assassins spend most of the match on the defensive.  Early on, they try everything they can to avoid starting the match.  Late in the match, Bravo is in complete control, when George Cannon slides his helmet into the ring.  One of the Assassins picks it up and clobbers Bravo in the head with it, just as he went to lift the other Assassin up into the Airplane Spin.  The referee saw this, and immediately called for the bell, disqualifying the masked men.

Semi Main Event
AWA United States Heavyweight Title Match:

The Sheik (Champion) w/ Eddie Creatchman
defeated Carlos Rocha (Challenger).
The Portugese Champion Rocha has a golden opportunity here, to become United States Champion.  He starts out in control of the match, but things quickly fall apart and the match becomes an all-out brawl.  Rocha surprises the Sheik, he shows that not only can he wrestle, but when need be, he can brawl with the best of them too!  Rocha has the match well in hand, but Eddie Creatchman once again interjects himself, distracting the referee. This allows The Sheik to throw a FIREBALL right into Rocha's face!  Carlos goes down, and The Noble One quickly covers him for the pinfall victory.

Afterwards, several referees and medical personnel check on Rocha, but he's OK, he's eventually able to leave the ring on his own.  The Hamilton fans, happy to see that he's alright, give Rocha a loud ovation as he leaves the ring.

Main Event:
Rufus R. Jones
defeated Greg Valentine by DQ.
Rufus is eager to get his hands on the man that tried to put him out of wrestling back in June.  Valentine is not so eager to lock up with Rufus.  Valentine spends the first few minutes running from Rufus, every times Jones goes to grab him, Valentine will duck through the ropes, forcing Rufus to back off, or he'll dive out of the ring completely and walk around on the floor.  Finally, Rufus has had enough, and goes out after Valentine on the floor!  Valentine runs around the ring, then dives back in, followed by Rufus.  When Rufus slides back into the ring, Valentine immediately starts stomping away at him!  He keeps Rufus down for a moment, but Jones eventually turns things around and starts pummeling Valentine!  Rufus throws Valentine into one corner, then charges at him with a clothesline, then he whips him into the opposite corner, and another charging clothesline!  This time, Valentine staggers out of the corner...and falls flat on his face!  Rufus covers him, but Valentine kicks out at the last second!  Rufus is in control most of the rest of the match.  Valentine will get some offence in here and there, but it's pretty much all Rufus!

Late in the match, Rufus goes to charge at Valentine in the corner again, but this Valentine pulls the referee right in front of him, and the ref takes the full force of the clothesline!  The referee goes down, and as Rufus takes a moment to check on him, Valentine clips his knee!  Rufus goes down like a ton of bricks, and Valentine immediately slaps on the Figure Four Leglock!  Rufus grabs the ropes, but with no referee, there's no one to force Valentine to release the hold!  Valentine keeps the hold on for what seems like forever, Rufus is in so much pain, he's barely conscious.  The referee finally comes to, and immediately calls for the bell, disqualifying Valentine.  He tries to get Greg to release the Figure Four, but without any luck.

Finally, Dino Bravo and the Masked Canadian hit the ring!  Valentine quickly releases the hold, then rolls out of the ring.  Bravo and the Canadian check on Rufus as Valentine leaves the ringside area, an arrogant smirk on his face.

Norm Kimber announces that Maple Leaf Wrestling will return to Hamilton next Friday night, August the 31st.  On that card, there will be a rematch between Greg Valentine and Rufus R. Jones, this time there will be a special referee, who will be announced that night.  As well, Johnny Powers, Dino Bravo and Carlos Rocha will be in action, and in the main event, two Champions square off, as the Crusader puts the Canadian Title on the line against U.S. Champion The Sheik!
