"Mid-Pacific Wrestling", 8/25/77
Aug 20th, 2007, 4:55pm

“Mid-Pacific Wrestling”
KITV Studios
Honolulu, HI
Announcers-Lord James Blears and Ed Francis
Airs-8/25/77

Blears and Francis open the show.

Blears, “Tally-ho and aloha everyone! Welcome to ‘Mid-Pacific Wrestling’. We are one day away from the big show at Blaisdell arena. We know the main event will be one for the ages. Ripper Collins defends the Hawaii Title against Don Leo Jonathan. We will hear from both men later in the program. Let’s go to the ring for our opening contest.”

Match #1
Samson Kawamatsu def. Takashi Onoume (4:28) w/karate thrust

Francis is with the Von Steiger Brothers.

Francis, “With me now, are the Von Steiger Brothers. They will meet the Wild Samoans in a tag team title match at Blaisdell. Gentlemen, the Samoans are riding a hot streak.”

Kurt V.S., “Savages! Those two have no wrestling abilities. They won the titles through sheer luck and a dishonest Hawaiian referee.”

Francis, “Maybe so, but they have held those titles for one month’s time.”

Karl V.S., “They have held them through cowardice and deception! That will not work on Sunday!”

Francis, “Time will tell. I know one thing, it will be a great match.”

Match #2
The Von Steiger Brothers def. Superfly Tui and “Handsome” John Anson (7:39) Kurt V.S. w/claw vs. Anson

Blears is with Waldo Von Erich.

Blears, “Mr. Von Erich, you will be in action tomorrow night. You will meet Steve Rickard. He is a tough veteran.”

Von Erich, “Tough veteran? He is simply an obstacle in my path. I will go through him, just like a blitzkrieg!”

Blears, “I don’t think you should look past him.”

Von Erich, “I will not overlook him! I will destroy him and I will move on to the top of Hawaii wrestling!”

Match #3
Waldo Von Erich def. Masked Avenger (3:12) w/kneedrop

Von Erich lands a second kneedrop and Steve Rickard hits the ring. They brawl until wrestlers from the back break things up. Rickard takes the mic.

Rickard, “Von Erich, you want to punish and young lad like this? What does that prove! Tomorrow night, you meet me and you know it won’t be easy!”

Blears is with Don Leo Jonathan.

Blears, “Don, it’s just a few hours away. You get a chance against the Champion and many people, here in the Islands, believe you will walk out of Blaisdell with the Hawaii Title in your possession.”

Jonathan, “I hope to do just that. You can’t take Collins lightly. He is a veteran, and even though I hate to admit it, he knows how to hold onto a title. I’ll have to be at the top of my game and it will not be a ‘walk in the park’.”

Blears, “Collins has shown that he will do anything to hold onto the belt.”

Jonathan, “He will, but I will do anything to take the belt from him and I think I’m just a little bit better.”

Match #4
Don Leo Jonathan def. Robert Toronto (5:48) w/giant swing

Francis is with the Hawaii Champion, Ripper Collins.

Francis, “Collins, Don Leo is ready for you.”

Collins, “Yea, yea, yea. That big oaf is talking a good game, but remember I beat him for the title and I’ve kept this belt for one month now.”

Francis, “Through hook or crook, mostly crook.”

Collins, “Lots of talk old man. ‘King’ Ripper Collins is the ‘Toast of the Coast’ and the most eligible bachelor in the Islands. Don Leo Jonathan can run his mouth, but until he takes this from me, it’s all just talk. This interview is over, I have parties to go to. Don Ho is expecting me. Tiny bubbles, in the wine…"

Francis, “Ripper Collins is a bit odd, but he will be tough to beat. Here’s the rundown of the card for Sunday night at the Blaisdell Arena.”

Bill Francis takes on Samson Kawamatsu

Waldo Von Erich vs. Steve Rickard

Sam Steamboat meets the Destroyer

Hawaii Tag Team Title Match
The Wild Samoans (Champions) vs. The Von Steiger Brothers
