"Welcome to Saturday Night Wrestling. My name is Bill Mercer and we have a great show for you this evening. Tonight, you will see Ernie Ladd in action, Mr. Fuji and Masa Saito take on Roberto and Manny Soto, David Von Erich meets Chicky Starr, and in our main event, Al Madril faces Pistol Pez Whatley.
It’s been another huge week for the Summer Wrestling Series. Wednesday, in Beaumont, Bruiser Brody won a 15-man battle royal to earn a shot at the world title tomorrow night in Tulsa against Terry Funk! The battle royal came down to two men, Ernie Ladd and Bruiser Brody, before Brody finally prevailed. Brody and Ladd meet August 21, in Waco inside a steel cage to settle their differences. Joining me on the program is Texas Heavyweight Champion Ernie Ladd, Gary Hart and Pak Song.
--- Texas Heavyweight Champion Ernie Ladd, Gary Hart and Pak Song arrive at the interview center --- Ernie Ladd “That big dummy Bruiser Brody stole my shot at the world title. That was my title shot, jack. I will make the big dummy pay for what he did. This week, in Waco, inside a steel cage, Brody will learn what happens when you take something that’s mine. Brody is going down, jack, you can take that to be bank.
Gary Hart: “Bruiser Brody has crossed a line, a line that should never have been crossed. We have planned, we have plotted, for a way to take the world title. Brody disrupted that plan. We now have a new agenda: the complete destruction of Bruiser Brody.
Bill Mercer: “Ladd sounds like he’s ready to settle the score with Brody this Tuesday in Waco. Let’s go the ring for our first match as Ladd is in action.
Match #1 Texas Heavyweight Champion Ernie Ladd destroys
Carlos Mata via pinfall following a boot to the face. (3:56)
---Commercial Break--- Bill Mercer: "Last weekend, in Oklahoma City, Toru Tanaka was not able to take the American Heavyweight Title from Fritz Von Erich, but he did manage to severely injure the champ following a brutal two-on-one attack. Joining us now is the mastermind behind the attack, Skandar Akbar, and his band of foreign mercenaries.
--- Skandar Akbar, Mr. Fuji, Masa Saito and Professor Toru Tanaka arrive at the interview center --- Skandar Akbar: "The idiocy of the infidels never seized to amaze me. Of course Tanaka did not take the title last Sunday. That was not part of my plan. My plan was to hurt Von Erich, to make him suffer pain. Von Erich has to defend his title every night during the Summer Wrestling Series. A weakened Von Erich will be no match for my men. My brilliant strategies will run circles around the infidels. Toru Tanaka fears no one!!!
---Bill Mercer interrupts Skandar Akbar---
Bill Mercer: “I have just been notified that the World Class Board of Directors has booked a special match for Toru Tanaka this Tuesday in Waco. Since he fears no one, Toru Tunaka will face….ANDRE THE GIANT!
---Akbar and his men storm away from the interview area----
Bill Mercer: “Akbar’s pupil Toru Tanaka gets a huge challenge this week in Waco as he faces Andre the Giant. Former Texas Tag-Team Champions Mr. Fuji and Masa Saito are in action in our next contest.
Match #2 Mr. Fuji & Masa Saito defeat
Roberto & Manuel Soto via pinfall following a Kamikaze clothesline by Fuji on Manuel. (8:19).
---Commercial Break--- Bill Mercer: “In our next contest, two young up-and-comers to World Class Championship Wrestling will meet, as Chicky Starr takes on David Von Erich. Joining us now to talk about his big match is Chicky Starr.
Chicky Starr arrives at the interview center --- Chicky Starr “ Everyone keeps talking about David Von Erich, that he’s going to be some kind of superstar. I don’t see nothing that impresses me out of David Von Erich. I’m the one they should be talking about. Von Erich may have a famous daddy, but he don’t have what it takes to beat me in the ring. I will take down Von Erich and show the wrestling world who the real up and comer is in this sport.
Bill Mercer: "We have quite a battle of the youngsters in our next contest.
Match #3 Chicky Starr and
David Von Erich battle to a double-disqualification when the battle gets out of hand and the referee loses control. (11:50)
---Commercial Break--- Bill Mercer: “Before we get to our huge main event, we are joined by the man who is set for a big week. Bruiser Brody gets a shot at the world heavyweight championship tomorrow night in Tulsa and a shot at the Texas Heavyweight Title this Tuesday night in Waco.
Bruiser Brody arrives at the interview center--- Bruiser Brody “I’ve won titles before, I’ll win them again. I held the WWWF Heavyweight Title, winning titles ain’t nothing special to me. What is special is the opportunity to beat up on Ernie Ladd inside of a steel cage in Waco. When I do beat Ladd in Waco, I’m going to win my second title of the week. Terry Funk, you’ve fought men all over the world. You ain’t ever fought someone like me. AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!
Bill Mercer: “Brody sounds primed and ready for his big week. Let’s go the ring for our television main event.
Match #4 Al Madril defeats
Pistol Pez Whatley in a tough contest when Madril administers a crucifix followed by a pinfall. (15:01)
