AWA-CWA Jonesboro, AR 8/18/77

AWA-CWA Wrestling
Live from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, AR
Bell time 8/18/77 is 7:00 pm

1)      Don Ross defeats Bobby Jones with a big powerslam.

2)      George Welles defeats Big Bill Howard in a brawling opener with a big running football tackle.

3)      Tommy Gilbert defeats the masked Spoiler with a big vertical suplex.

4)      Bobby Jaggers and Tito Montez defeat Butch Malone and “Professor” Bill Ash in a heated tag team contest that sees Montez finish off Ash with a flying head scissors.

5)      Kelly Kiniski defeats Black Angus Campbell with a Canadian back breaker in a taped fist match. Campbell seemed to have the match in hand until Kelly was able to reverse an Irish whip into the corner and follow it up with a huge clothesline. A few staggering shots from Kiniski and the back breaker was all that was needed.

6)      Dutch Mantell defeats the Spider with a brainbuster suplex in a big brawl that twice spilled to the floor. Both men were bloodied and it appeared that the Spider was going to finish the match off with a flying elbow, however Dutch rolled out of the way just in time. The Miser still had in hand Mantell’s bullwhip and scrambled to the back with it in hand before the Dutchman could chase after him.

7)      Pat Roach crushed “Superstar” Bill Dundee with a big knee drop. The size difference between the men is the major reason Dundee can’t get past the European Champion.

8)      Jerry ”the King” Lawler defeats Outlaw Ron Bass by disqualification after referee Tommy Morton catches Bass with a pair of brass knuckles after decking Lawler with one punch. Lawler was on the top of his game, but a clean victory over the Southern Heavyweight Champion wasn’t in the cards.

Watching Kiniski apply the Canadian backbreaker to Campbell would have been a sight!
Spider vs. Mantell was a good one
Dundee was screwed, Pat Roach needs to lose a "loser gets deported" rematch  Grin
Lawler came close!
