WWC TV TAPING 8/23/77
Aug 25th, 2007, 8:03pm

WORLD WRESTLING COUNCIL
SUPERESTRELLAS DE LA LUCHE LIBRE
TAPED AT: WAPA-TV CHANNEL 4 STUDIOS
SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO
TAPED: AUGUST 23, 1977
BROADCAST: AUGUST 25, 1977
REFEREE: TOMAS MARIN
ANNOUNCER: RICK ST. JAMES

-Theme music is played and the WWC logo is super imposed over arena match action.

Rick St. James welcomes everyone to the program and says they are in for a great show today! St. James discusses briefly some of the happenings here in the wrestling paradise....Puerto Rico! He talks of the great things we have seen lately from the Gorilla Monsoon our very own WWC Puerto Rican Heavyweight Champion. St. James also mentions the new WWC North American Tag Team Champions "The Samoan Kings" High Chief Afi and King Curtis and reminds us all not to forget their sinister manager Mark Manson! He says that speaking of Manson we have some footage of some recent events involving members of the "Manson Mafia"!

VTR rolls.............Film is shown from Coliseo Manuel Iguina in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. “The All-American” Don Kernodle is bloodied before he leaves the curtain area. He has been attacked by Mark Manson and El Diablo Mascaras. This weakens him and he submits to Diablo Mascaras’ camel clutch later in the match.

NWA WORLD JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
EL DIABLO MASCARAS w/ MARK MANSON vs. JERRY BRISCO (C)

The match is a counter fest that has the fans on their feet. Brisco focuses on the right knee of Diablo, while the masked man goes after Brisco’s back. A series of reverses of small packages ends with Brisco being thrown out of the ring. Manson takes a plastic fork out of his jeans and stabs Brisco with it. He opens the champ up.

Diablo Mascaras drops to the floor and poles Brisco. Manson is being checked by Marin because of the taunts of the fans. This allows Diablo Mascaras to pull out a coin from his boot and deepen the cut. He rolls Brisco back into the ring and locks on the camel clutch.

Despite great pain, Brisco makes the ropes. Marin tells Diablo to break; Manson tells him to keep it locked. Marin calls for the bell @ 8:29. Manson has an evil look on his face and he tells his charge to cinch down harder. The crowd roars as Carlos Colon clears the ring with chair. He checks on Brisco, as Manson tells the crowd, “He is not of the devil, he is of my Family.”

WINNER: JERRY BRISCO by DQ

WWC NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM TOURNAMENTS FINALS
THE SAMOAN KINGS w/ MARK MANSON vs. TONY GAREA/ DEAN HO

The team from the NWA San Francisco territory takes it to the Kings early. Garea uses a series of Mexican leg whips to take down High Chief Afi. He works on the left leg and tags off to Ho. Dean drops a fist form the top rope into the left knee. He drops to the floor and slams the knee on the edge of the ring apron.

Manson gets the attention of Marin and Afi hits a low blow on Ho. He rams the Hawaiian into the turnbuckle. He then hits a belly-to-belly suplex. King Curtis tags in and begins to brutalize Ho. Marin has his hands full as Curtis bites, jabs, and manhandles the former WWWF tag champ. Ho hits a dropkick out of nowhere and Curtis is staggered. Ho makes the tag and Garea cleans house.

After several minutes of working on Curtis’ back, Garea tags Ho. He Irish whips Curtis into the rope and gets him in a bear hug. Ho is on the top turnbuckle and lands a missile dropkick. Curtis is down.

Manson gets Marin’s attention. Afi takes Garea to the floor. El Diablo Mascaras comes in and sprays some type of clear mist into Ho’s face. He pulls Curtis on top and rolls out of the ring. Marin makes the count of three @ 11:19.

WINNERS AND NEW WWC NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE SAMOAN KINGS

Colon, Ayala, and Rivera rush to the aid of Ho and Garea as the Manson Mafia gloats over their ill-gotten gains.

After the various clips from the "Manson Mafia's" different "hits" on the stars of WWC we are back with St. James. He tells us that this group.........this "Mafia" if you will.......will definitely be something that the other stars of WWC will have to watch out for. Their path of destruction reaches near and far and we will probably see them continue right here on today's program!

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Hercules Ayala vs. El Lobo

Great match from the bell seeing both men taking the advantage at some point. In the end though Ayala and his strength are just way too much as he gets the victory with a big bear hug @6:23

Back at the broadcast table St. James is standing by with Rock Riddle and Gil Hayes! He questions them about their intentions here in WWC and especially their thoughts on Puerto Rican Champion Gorilla Monsoon and the North American Tag Champions "The Samoan Kings".

Riddle and Hayes respond by saying that they are not only the best wrestlers here in Puerto Rico.....but are the best looking as well! They say that either one of them can beat Gorilla Monsoon at anytime they choose. They also comment about "The Samoan Kings" by saying that they are ceertainly not forgetting about Tag Team Gold as well! They say they are here to make a lasting impression and will do whatever it takes to get what they want!

We are back with St. James and he is discussing the recent events that have occurred between Tosh Togo and Antonio Inoki. He then rolls some special footage of the two......

VTR rolls..........Miguel Perez vs. Tosh Togo
Fantastic match here between these two! Perez has the advantage for the biggest portion of this one until he misses a flying forearm and flies through the middle rope to the arena floor! This gives Togo time to recuperate as he goes out and lifts up the injured Perez rolling him back into the ring. Togo locks on his Asiatic Spike and really puts on the pressure! Perez cannot escape and finally must give in to the pain! After the bell Togo refuses to release the hold and pushes referee Benitez down as the crowd is really incensed! Finally, Antonio Inoki comes running down the aisle and hits the ring! Togo breaks the hold and makes a quick exit out the other side before Inoki can get to him!

El Diablo Mascaras w/Mark Manson vs. Antonio Inoki
Diablo and Manson enter the ring first and as Inoki comes from behind the curtain Tosh Togo comes from behind and nails him with a chair to the back of the head! Inoki goes down and Togo hits him again with the chair! He then slaps on the Asiatic Spike until security gets him off finally and escorts him to the back! Manson meanwhile argues with Referee Benitez to start the match and he finally gives in and calls for the bell! Manson exits the ring and the referee begins the count! Diablo stops the count at 5 and jumps out of the ring and down the aisle to the downed Inoki! He grabs Inoki up and drags him to the ring and rolls him in. Diablo straddles Inoki and begins pounding on him as it seems he is bleeding from the back of his head from the chair shots! Diablo gets up and taunts the crowd as Manson slips him something. He goes back to Inoki and gets headlock on with both men on the mat. Before the referee can make it around to see him jabs the object into Inoki's forehead opening a cut on it as well! Diablo gets up and drags Inoki to the middle of the ring and slaps on the camel clutch! The badly beaten Inoki cannot escape as blood is pouring from all over his head it seems and must submit! After the bell El Diablo Mascaras refuses to break the hold until Manson finally pulls him off and the two sinister men make their way to the back under heavy security!

Winner: El Diablo Mascaras w/Mark Manson @21:33

St. James says this thing between the two men from the Orient is coming to a head and that he looks for Inoki to seek some revenge on Togo!

Tosh Togo vs. Super Gladiator

Super match with some back and forth action throughout until Gladiator misses a flying forearm and hits the turnbuckle hard! Togo takes full advantage by immediately applying the Asiatic Spike! Gladiator tries to escape but to no avail and must submit @7:02   *After the bell Togo refuses to break the hold and finally out comes Inoki with a steel chair of his own and swats Togo across the back with it! Togo goes down and Inoki hits him over the head not once but twice opening him up!! Finally security gets Inoki out of the ring and back to the dressing room!

-COMMERCIAL-

We are back with Rick St. James at ringside with Huracan Castillo. He asks Castillo about his recent run ins with The Professional. Castillo says that The Professional is certainly no professional as he should not be using the sleeper hold to win if he refuses to wake his opponent! He says that their paths will cross soon and The Professionall better be prepared to reap what he has sewn!

Huracan Castillo vs. La Pantera Negra

Castillo takes the advantage early and never lets up, really taking it to Negra! He gets the pinfall after a beautiful dropkick from the top rope @6:09

-COMMERCIAL-

Television Main Event

El Diablo Mascaras, High Chief Afi and King Curtis w/Mark Manson vs. Miguel Perez, Victor Jovica and El Tigre Perez

The studio audience is really hot for this one as Manson taunts the crowd and even Rick St. James as he and his "Mafia" enter the ring! They immediately attack Perez, Jovica and Perez before the bell can ring! It is an all out melee in the ring with "Manson's Mafia" beating up their opponents and finally they throw Jovica and Miguel out and Referee Marin calls for the bell. El Diablo Mascaras stays in against El Tigre Perez and continues the assault. Meanwhile "The Samoan Kings" make their way over to Jovica and Miguel and continue their onslaught, thus distracting Marin. Manson slips Diablo an object which he uses to open up Perez with. He then hits a body slam and slaps on the Camel Clutch as MArin turns around Perez has no choice but to give up @7:33  *After the bell the beatings continue both inside and outside the ring as Manson looks on with a devious smile!

St. James tells us that he doesn't know if anyone can stop the weekly masacres from occuring! He says that is all for this week and invites everyone back next time right here for the very best in professional wrestling.....WWC!

Manson is absolutely evil.

Inoki/ Togo and Professional/ Castillo are shaping up to be hot rivalries.

Riddle and Hayes are going to be tough. I would pay to see them fighting the Samoans Kings for the belts.

Great show.

I'm not familiar with many of the Latin stars here, but you do a great job making their characters come to life. Mark Manson sure seems like an evil fellow. Great work!
