AWA International Wrestling TV 9/1/77
Sep 5th, 2007, 1:12pm

AWA International Wrestling TV 9/1/77 (Taped 8/29/77)

~ In a match taped prior to TV, "Dynamite" Jack Evans defeated Greg Peterson with a gordbuster.

TV…

Curran & Britton open the show. They mention the upcoming Forum show on the third (just two days away). It is announced Larry Sharpe’s opponent for the TV Title this week has been drawn, and it will be….Rick McGraw! Also our feature match will pit the International Tag Team Champions The Mercenaries against Two Rivers & War Eagle. Whoever walks out of that match with the titles will meet the Alaskan Beard at the Forum on Monday.

Later on the program we will run down the card for the Forum and hope Mad Dog Lefebvre has signed the contract to face Paul LeDuc this Monday night!

As Curran mentions this out comes Mad Dog Lefebvre with Jacques Rougeau Sr. of all people. The Mad Dog admits to not being the most intelligent man on Earth and had Jacques Sr. look over the contract. Jacques notes that he revised the contract just a little but did not remove anything from it that the Major had put in it.

The Major is out now and argue with Jacques for revising the contract. Duke looks over the contract and notices all of his writing was still in the papers, nothing had been omitted, so he agrees to the revised contract….

After signing the contract…Jacques Sr. tells the Major to read the FINE PRINT. If Duke George’s man, Paul LeDuc was to lose the bout against Lefebvre….Then the Major has to climb in the ring for action!

The crowd cheers for a moment, but Duke remains calm, stating that any additions like that are null because earlier in the contract it states that at no time during the event can Mad Dog Lefebvre lay his hands on Duke, no matter what!…The Major is now smiling.

Jacques Sr. again tells him to READ THE FINE PRIN! The contract says….If Mad Dog Lefebvre defeated Paul LeDuc…The Major, Duke George must climb in the ring and do battle….not against Levebvre….but against JACQUES ROUGEAU SR.!

The crowd is hysteric, the Major is irate! He can not believe he was duped! Id Lefebvre beats LeDuc the Major is in deep trouble! He will have to face Jacques Rougeau Sr. in a one on one contest, this Monday at the Forum!

Duke George walks off worried while Jacques & Lefebvre smile all the way into break.

Bout 1: UFO defeated Len Shelley after using a loading his mask and hitting a headbutt in 4:00. Shelley was noted as being UFO’s old partner “UFO #2”. The Masked Mr. Pro was out for commentary during this match and talked about his upcoming “mask vs. mask” match vs. UFO at the Forum. Pro notes he unmasked UFO #2 and now plans to unmask his partner. UFO asked for the match calling Mr. Pro a pretender to the masked throne, and Mr. Pro will oblige in just 2 days time.

Bout 2: Television Champion “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe (w/Jack Evans) defeated Rick McGraw in 5:00 after Jack Evans tripped up McGraw and Sharpe his a piledriver.

After the contest Sharpe & Evans talk about their quest to win all of the gold in International. Sharpe has the TV title, and now The Mercenaries and Raymond Rougeau better be on the look out!

Curran & Britton are back and run down the Montreal Forum card for Monday, September the third.

~ Mad Dog Lefebvre vs. "Canadian Lumberjack" Paul LeDuc
If Lefebvre wins, Jacques Rougeau Sr. gets a match against Major Duke George!

~ Raymond Rougeau & Jacques Rougeau Jr. vs. Eric the Red & The Hangman
One Fall, Australian Tag team Rules apply.

~ International Tag Team Champions The Mercenaries vs. The Alaskan Bears
The titles WILL be on the line, regardless of the champions, the Alaskans will get a title shot!

~ Chief War Eagle & Billy Two Rivers vs. Sid Cooper & Alan Dennison
If the Indian team wins the titles on today's program, it will be the Mercenaries in their place in this bout.

~ "Pretty Boy" Larry Sharpe vs. Rick McGraw
A rematch has been signed after today's events, but the TV Title will not be on the line.

~ The masked Mr. Pro vs. UFO
It's mask vs. mask, as the loser of the fall must unmask!

Plus "Dynamite" Jack Evans will also be in action!

It’s interview time and out first are the Alaskan Bears Mike & Jay York. The York’s make note that they were able to defeated the Mercenaries in a non-title match up this past week while on the road, which makes them the number one contenders. Jay York says there will be no more running or hiding, the Alaskan’s will get their title match this Monday at the Forum! Whether it be the Indians or the Mercenaries who have the belts, it won’t matter, they will beat either team, or both if they have to!

Out next are the Rougeau Brothers! Raymond & Jacques Jr. talk about Major Duke and his Army. Jacques Jr. says he looks forward to seeing his father get in there with the Major is it comes to that at the Forum. Raymond talks about Eric the Red & The Hangman basically manhandling the Rougeau’s for the last couple weeks. It’s always 2 on 1, or 3 on 2, the odds are never fair. But at the Forum it will be 2 on 2 when the Rougeau’s meet Eric the Red & Hangman in tag team action! Raymond shows the giant cut and the stitches he got from Eric the Red’s bone. Raymond promises Eric if he gets his hands on that bone, he’s gonna stick it where the sun don’t shine!

Bout 3: The Hangman (w/Major Duke & Eric the Red) defeated Daniel Martel with a swinging neckbreaker in 2:15. After the match, Eric the Red entered the ring and splashed Martel twice…The Hangman then hanged Martel over the top rope with a strap until the Rougeau’s made the save. Eric went after his bone, but Raymond got to it first and the Major blew the dog whistle to get his men to retreat. The Major did tons of rambling on commentary during the bout, about the upcoming Lefebvre/LeDuc match, his potential bout with Jacques Sr., and also the Rougeau’s vs. Eric & Hangman.

It’s feature match time…

Bout 4: International Tag Team Champions The Mercenaries defeated Chief War Eagle & Billy Two Rivers in 7:15 when Frenchie Martin pinned Two Rivers after he missed a body press. After the match War Eagle belittled his partner and left him in the ring alone, walking away in disgust. Two Rivers seems confused and still a bit loopy from the contest.

It appears the Mercenaries WILL be going to the Forum to meet the Alaskans for the titles this Monday night.

A quick recap of the show and rundown of the big matches at the Forum by Curran & Britton. They note we may see the Major meet Jacques Sr. if Lefebvre can defeat the Canadian Lumberjack, Paul LeDuc this Monday night! The Rougeau’s look to extract some revenge against The Major’s Army as well. You don’t wanna miss the action so make sure you attend this major event!

On next week’s show, we will recap all the happenings at this weeks Forum event as well as talk about some new comer's to the area, and maybe we will even see one, or more than one of them in action next week! Also on don't forget Television Champion "Pretty Boy" Larry Sharpe will join us for action!

The Chief and Two Rivers don't seem to be on the same page.

The Major will read all contracts more carefully from now on, I'm sure.

The Alaskan Bears and The Mercenaries should be brutally entertaining.

Great card coming up on the third.
